Hitting Reset Season 6: The Pandemic Begins

Chapter 366

Matt's POV: After having breakfast with Gabby and the kids (and bringing the plates downstairs), I smiled as I walked out of the washroom shortly after taking a shower and getting changed. Looking at me as I walked over to our bed in my boxers and a t-shirt, Gabby just smirked because she couldn't deny the fact that she loved what I was wearing. She always loved it when I was wearing stuff that was easy to sleep with because it meant that I didn't have to move again. However, I already knew I was going to have to put at least a towel on to go get us food in the kitchen later. Walking over to my side table, I smiled at the boys who were on their play mat.

"You boys having fun over there?" The boys then looked up at me and just smiled. Meanwhile, I decided to walk over to them and crouch down (balancing on my toes). Ruffling their (short) hair, I smiled at the both of them. "I swear, you boys are just so dang adorable." That's when I heard Gabby speak to me. "And you are looking quite handsome in that outfit you are wearing Mr. Casey." Turning to look at Gabby, I smiled and agreed with her when she told me that. "And you are looking quite sexy in that outfit you are wearing." That's when Gabby sat up to show off that we was now wearing a little nightie for me. Staring, I was completely shocked. "Damn."

Gabby laughed and just smiled when I said that. "Is that convincing you to hurry up and get in bed with me?" I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she asked me that. "Just make sure that the girls are on the other side of the bed, I am coming to cuddle up to you." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I told her that. She then proceeded to go put the girls on my side of the bed. Meanwhile, I walked over to her and just smiled as I went to set my phone down on my side table. "Sorry I took so long in the shower." Gabby shook her head when I said that. "No rush, we are just cuddling up to each other." I smiled and agreed with her. "I was talking to Boden."

Gabby agreed with me. "About what?" I smiled. "I had to tell him the situation. I told him that Christie has cancer...and I told him that I want to see if there was anything I could do for her financially. I know it's a long shot but...if I can get health insurance to cover it, then I will." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I told her that. Opening the covers, I went to sit down with Gabby before closing them on top of us. Laying down against me, Gabby smiled as she wrapped her arms around me. Wrapping my arm around her back, I smiled as I went to kiss her forehead softly. "And that is why you are such a great husband and father." I smiled and agreed with her.

Putting her hand on my chest, Gabby stroke it with her thumb before I went to grab her hand. I then went to intertwine our fingers and just smiled as I went to wrap my arm around her head. Going to grab a few strands of her hair, I went to twirl it and just smiled at Gabby. Meanwhile, Gabby looked up at me and then went to kiss me softly. Taking it slow with her, I smiled because this is exactly what I wanted to be doing right now. "How did it feel to breastfeed the girls again?" Gabby smiled when I asked her that. "Honestly, it was a great experience. I missed it. I just hope that I don't get too attached to it." Moving to wrap my arm around her, I was confused.

"Why's that babe?" Gabby sighed as she laid her head down on my shoulder. "Because if I get too attached to it, it'll get hard to stop. And then...they'll just have to grow out of it and then we won't have any more kids to breastfeed." I nodded and agreed with her. Going to rub her hand, I smiled as I went to kiss her forehead softly. "Don't even start thinking about it." Gabby looked up at me when I told her that and agreed. "Trust me, I am not sure I can do more kids anyways." I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she said that. "Well, give birth to them at least." I looked down at Gabby when she told me that. "What?" Gabby nodded and agreed with me.

"I know I was against it before we had the kids....but we could always foster." I then sighed and went to kiss her forehead softly. "Sorry baby, but that is too much. We already have 4 kids. I can't do more than this with my job. Babe, you think it's easy leaving 4 kids alone for 24 hours at a time. Heck sometimes it feels like longer than 24 hours when I have meetings the night before. Babe, there are some days where I don't see the kids for up to 38 hours." Gabby was shocked when I said that. "No. When?" I then took a breath. "When I have my Chief meetings. They start at 7....and I don't see the kids before I go to bed. And then we have shift the next day."

Gabby just took a breath when I said that and I could just tell that she felt bad for me. "Gabby, don't feel bad for me okay? I'm the one that signed up for this life remember?" Gabby agreed with me when I said that and just looked up at me. She then went to kiss me and just smiled as we took it slow with each other. "Not too much Gabby. Remember, we have the girls here on the bed with us." Gabby laughed and agreed with me when I told her that. "Also known as our dream life." I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she told me that. That's when I felt Gabby cuddle up to my side more (with her not wearing a bra underneath her shirt). "You are such a tease."

Gabby laughed when I said that. Meanwhile, I decided to reach over to grab the TV remote. "Shit, do we need to watch family friendly stuff?" Gabby agreed when I asked her that. "Yes. Just put it on Disney...I'm sure that the boys will appreciate that." I nodded and agreed when she told me that. That's when I went to turn on the TV to see what we can watch. But first, I saw that I had it on CNN. "Gabby, do you mind if I get an update on COVID first? I know that this is family time but..." Gabby just agreed with me. "You still have a duty to the Battalion." I sighed and agreed with her. "I need to know the right moves so that I can make good calls. The science and stuff."

CNN: "There are currently 102,702 active cases of the novel coronavirus. A total of 1,590 people have died in the US from the coronavirus. Cases are active in all 50 states, DC and other US territories. Meanwhile, in Spain the death toll has risen to 5,690 with 54,273 active cases."

Just setting the remote down, I took a breath because those were hard stats. Looking up at me, Gabby went to rub my chest. "You okay baby?" I sighed as I went to look down at Gabby. "I have a feeling that this isn't going to stop anytime soon." Gabby agreed with me when I said that before going to kiss me softly. "Babe, just breathe and remember that I'm here for you." I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she said that. Wrapping my arm around her back, I went to kiss her forehead and just took a breath. This was scary and I hate this. "Gabby, I need to ask you something..." Gabby agreed with me. "Anything." I then took a breath.

"I need you to promise me that we keep to our family and work right now." Gabby was shocked when I said that. "Baby...Molly's." I shook my head. "Gabby, my sister has cancer. I can't let her catch this...it'll kill her!" Gabby then went to rub my chest and just realized why I was scared. "Hey, take a breath." I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she told me that. I then proceeded to kiss her forehead softly. Gabby just sighed. "I understand Matt. Listen, how about I grab my phone and we can call Herrmann? I'm sure he's...." That's when I heard my phone ring. "If that's Herrmann, I'm going to be really scared." Gabby agreed with me when I told her that.

Going to reach over, I saw that it was Herrmann and took a breath. Going to show it to Gabby, I took a breath. "Let's take it together." I nodded and agreed with her when she told me that, getting a bit more comfortable as we both went to sit up in bed so that we could talk to Herrmann.
