Hitting Reset Season 6: The Pandemic Begins

Chapter 381

Jay's POV: After having supper with Hank, I smiled as I got Rex ready to go take a walk tonight. Rex then went to sit up and smiled at me. He wanted a treat but he wasn't getting one until later. Going to get up after putting my boots on, I went to rub his head and just smiled as I looked at Erin when he got up too. "Those on tight?" Erin agreed with me when I asked her that and smiled. "Don't worry Jay, they're on tight." I nodded and smiled when she told me that. Going to get close to her, I smiled as I brought her close to me and then went to wrap my arm around her.

Giving her a quick kiss, I smiled as I looked at her and then went to lean my forehead against hers. "Ready to get going?" Erin nodded and smiled when I said that. Going to kiss me, she just smiled and then went to grab my neck. "You're amazing." I smiled and agreed with her when she told me that. "Listen, let's get out of here." That's when Hank spoke to us. "I can put the kids to bed if you want me to." Looking at him, I smiled and agreed with him. "I like that idea. Then, we can just come in and go to bed." Erin nodded and smiled when I told her that. "Hank, bottles..."

Hank then smiled at Erin. "Guys, I know where you keep everything. I have watched your kids before. Guys, just go for your walk and take a breath." I smiled and agreed with Hank when he told me that, really appreciating the fact that he was going to be watching the kids for us. "Thanks again Hank. Leave the door unlocked. We'll be back soon." Hank agreed with me, nodding when I told him that. Walking out with Erin, I smiled as I went to go grab the door so that I could close it. Going to grab Erin's hand, I smiled as I went to go intertwine our fingers.

That's when I proceeded to lead Erin down the path towards the sidewalk so that we could make our way on our walk. Smiling at her, I went to rub her hand and smiled. "You tell me when you are tired okay? We will go home right away." Erin agreed with me when I told her that and just smiled at me. "I like that idea. Now, let's just start walking." I agreed with her and smiled as I went to lead her down the sidewalk. "So, the babies' are doing good right now?" Erin agreed with me when I asked her that and just smiled at me. "Yeah, they feel great." I smiled and agreed.

I then took a breath and just sighed. "Listen, I just want to say something." Erin agreed with me when I said that. "I'm sorry that things have been so tense recently." Erin looked at me when I said that. "I'm just worried about the pandemic." Erin agreed with me when I said that. "I know Jay." I then sighed. "Between you being pregnant, us having 2 young kids...and then my brother being a doctor, I hate to say that's on my mind more than you." Erin understood and then smiled at me. "Jay, I understand that you're worried and I promise that things will be better."

I nodded and agreed with Erin when she told me that. Going to wrap my arm around her shoulders, I smiled as I went to kiss her forehead softly. "I'm sure that things are going to get better. I guess I just have to believe that." Erin agreed with me when I told her that. "Jay, things are going to be fine because we are going to be safe. There is nothing more I want than to just be safe with you at home." I smiled and agreed with Erin when she told me that and then went to rub her hand. "Listen, can we maybe not talk about the pandemic right now?" I agreed.

"I know, a stressful time right now." Erin smiled when I told her that and just agreed with me when I said that. I then proceeded to kiss her forehead again, I just smiled because I was very happy to be outside with Erin right now. "Where are we off to right now?" I smiled at her. "Honestly, I just think we are going to go around the block." Going to walk around the corner, I smiled as I looked at her. "I think that's a good idea. Remember, the doctor told me that she doesn't want me to go too hard. She wants me to rest a lot more this pregnancy." I agreed.

"Are you worried that something similar is going to happen..." Erin shook her head. "Of course not Jay. We are not going anywhere while we are pregnant." I then bit my lip. "Well, I was thinking we could go something." Erin turned her head when I said that. "Jay..." I then sighed. "I was thinking that maybe we could go to the cabin. We can just go isolate up there. Then, we have more room to play. And Rex has a great place to run." Erin smiled when I said that and just went to rub my back. "I actually really like that idea. That sounds like a lot of fun."

I agreed with her and smiled. "But then again, we also need to stay close for the pregnancy." Erin agreed with me when I said that and just sighed. "I know what you're talking about." I nodded and agreed with Erin when she said that. "Maybe if we convince Natalie to come I would be comfortable going." Erin shook her head. "Natalie would never do it because she won't leave Will." That's when I heard Natalie behind us (we live in the same neighborhood). "Of course I'm not going to divorce my husband." Erin then turned to look at her and laughed.

"Sorry, wrong way to take it." That's when I realized something. "Hey, come here. How are you doing?" Natalie took a breath and sighed as she came to hug me. "I'm scared. Will's going to be isolating at the hospital...and I'm stuck with 3 kids." I agreed with her when she told me that. "I'm praying for my brother. I am so sorry that this is the case." Natalie agreed with me and just sighed. "Maybe I can convince you to come over if you want to. I can help you while my brother's in the hospital?" I turned to look at Erin when I said that, a little nervous.

"Jay, I would love to do that but...we are full." I agreed with her and just smiled. "Right, sorry." I then proceeded to wrap my arm around her and just smiled. "Well, I'm glad that you are out just getting a late night walk. I bet you're scared. Just know that we're here for you." Natalie agreed with me when I said that and took a breath. "I'll keep you updated how Will is doing, I Promise." I agreed with her and smiled when she told me that. "Thanks. Oh by the way...you still doing OB at home?" Natalie agreed. "Yeah, I'm offering the services...why?" I smiled. "Eva Dawson."

"What? Wait, how do you know?" I laughed. "Antonio took a week off to help Eva." Natalie agreed and smiled. "Well, I will see if I can do anything. But now, that's crazy. Uhm, I will tell Will that you are thinking of him. But, I am sure that he'll be okay. Jay, don't stress Erin our with this. He'll be fine." I nodded and agreed with Natalie when she told met hat. "Yeah, that makes sense." I smiled and just looked at Natalie. "How about you walk with us and we can talk about Will? We aren't going for long. We are just going around the block." Natalie agreed and smiled.

We then all went to walk away to continue our walk as an extended Halstead family.

After spending a bit more time with Natalie, I smiled when we went to go our separate ways so that we could make our way home. I know that Erin is already getting tired and she wants to rest. Going to wrap my arm around her, I just smiled as I went to kiss the side of her head. "How are you feeling after talking to Natalie?" I sighed. "I'm feeling better. I mean, I'm still worried but...I just feel bad for Erin. I mean, this is her husband while he's just my brother." Erin agreed with me when I told her that. "Jay, you can still be worried for your brother." I nodded and agreed.

Going to stop walking, I went to get close to Erin and went to put my hand on her but. Tugging her close to me, I smiled when I felt Erin wrap her arms around me. Leaning in, I went to kiss her and smiled as I took it slow with her. "I love you." Erin smiled and agreed with me when I told her that. "I love you too. Now listen, we need to keep walking so we can make our way home. Then, we can go kiss the kids goodnight before getting in bed together." Erin smiled and agreed with me when I told her that. "You already feeling better though?" I agreed with Erin and smiled.

"Well, let's get home. I want to cuddle up to you in bed." Erin smiled when I said that and just smiled at me. "Can you wear your sweats tonight? I don't want to go far. Tonight, I just want to rest with you." I nodded and agreed with Erin when she told me, understanding. "To tell you the truth, I don't really want to go far either. I mean, my brother's in the hospital." Erin nodded and agreed with me when I said that and smiled as she went to rub my back. "Well listen, let's head home so that we can relax in our sweats." Erin smiled and agreed with me, walking home with me.
