Hitting Reset Season 6: The Pandemic Begins

Chapter 349

Back with Chief Casey as he stands at his Jeep:
Matt's POV: As I looked at Boden shortly after sending Gabby off to the hospital, I took a breath as I looked at the scene. The hoses were open so that meant that all of my guys were out. And that meant that my worst fears were avoided for now. Yes, I was scared of loosing somebody on my first day. After all, it did happen pretty early on in my career as a chief. Just looking at the scene, I took a breath before deciding to walk over to Jay and Erin. "Going to knock on Erin's window, I just took a breath. Turning her head, she looked at me. "Hey Matt, everything ok?"

I nodded. "I just know that you guys are going to have questions for me. While they are putting them out, you want to ask me the questions now?" Jay nodded and agreed with me when I asked him that. "Sure, that sounds great." Going to get out of the truck, he smiled and then walked over to me. "Uhm, I guess the first part is that we need to know is what you think is the reason for the fire." I sighed when he asked me that. "Well, we still need to investigate...but the biggest fire started over there in between the houses. That's how it jumped houses so easily."

Jay agreed with me when I told him that and went to grab his notepad to write it down. "Uhm, can you tell me whether the origin was in the mansion?" I nodded and agreed with him when he asked me that. "Yes, it did start in the mansion. And it expanded into the house next door through the shared deck. We spoke to the owner and the house next door is actually their rental property. We already sent the owner to the hospital to get checked for smoke inhalation. I already told Gabby to put him under a hold since I knew that you needed to talk to him."

Jay agreed with me when I said that and just smiled. "And that's why you're a good chief...you know how to help the police." I laughed and agreed with him when he said that. "You sure that it's not just because you want to set up your kids with one of my kids?" Jay smiled when I asked him that. "That does sound appealing." I nodded and agreed with him when he said that. "Congratulations by the way." Jay laughed and agreed. "Twins." I was shocked when Jay told me that. "Holy shit." Jay nodded and smiled when I told him that. "Oh definitely. But we're really happy." I smiled and agreed with him when he said that. "You're going to love it."

Jay smiled and agreed with me when I said that and just agreed with me. "Okay, back to the case." I agreed with him and smiled. "So, this is arson of course." I nodded and agreed with him when he told me that. "Oh, there's no question in my mind that this is arson." I nodded and agreed him when he told me that. "Of course, that makes sense." Matt then took a breath. "Right now, I am just trying to relax though. This is hard." Jay agreed with me and just took a breath when I told him that. "Make sure that you try and remember as much as you can Matt."

I nodded and agreed with him when he said that. "Honestly, that's pretty much all I know. I didn't really pay attention. I mostly concentrated on the fire and Gabby. It's her first day back so...I'm a little worried." Jay laughed and agreed with me when I said that. "That makes sense. But thanks Matt. Can you get us reports?" I agreed with him when he asked me that. "Of course. I promise to get you those reports." Jay smiled and agreed with me when I said that. "Of course. Now listen, am I clear to go back to the firehouse? I need to rest. I'll send them via e-mail?"

Jay agreed with me when I said that and smiled. "Sounds good. You have my e-mail right?" I nodded and agreed with Jay when he told me that and just smiled. "Okay. Well thanks for investigating this." Jay nodded and smiled at me. "Okay, time to get going." Jay agreed with me and smiled when I said that. "Okay, you have a good day. Talk later man." I smiled and agreed with him when he said that. I then went to go walk over to my Jeep where I was ready to make my way home. That's when I got a call. Going to grab it, I saw that it was Gabby and answered.

"Hey, what's up Gabby?" That's when I heard the panic in her voice right away. "Sofia's here." I got scared when Gabby told me that. "What!" Gabby agreed with me. "Can you..." I then went to speak to her. "I'm on my way babe. I promise." Going to run over to the truck while hanging up, I saw that Boden was about to leave. "Boden!" Boden then turned to look at me. "What's up Matt?" I then got scared. "Boden, I need you to take over the Battalion for a bit." Boden just looked at me when I said that. "Why Matt?" I then took a breath and looked at him.

"Sofia's in the hospital." Boden just looked at me when I said that. "Oh god, go!" I nodded and agreed with him when he said that. Going to take off my gear, I ran over to my Jeep so that I could get out of here and to my baby girl. God, what the hell happened at home? I am so scared right now. God, let's just get there. Time to go be with Gabby and our family. I just hope that all the kids aren't there. This is horrible and I'm so scared. Who helped...whatever, not yet. All that matters is that I'm going to be there in a few minutes.
