Robert Chase x Reader He's worried about youChase and I met when I was volunteering at the hospital painting a mural for the children's ward. I'm a graphic designer, and part time artist. Whenever I can I like to volunteer my time painting, my current project was a 10ft by 35ft wall for the local library, specifically on the outside back wall. I of course was happy to do it, and it was made all the better by the librarians checking in on me and the project, luckily for me anyways because if they didn't who knows how long I'd have been lying there. I was working on the upper half, up on a ladder, trying to reach a far corner before I had to move the ladder over again (in hindsight I should've just moved the ladder first.) when I realized I was leaning too far over and lost my balance falling off the ladder and knocking it over with me. I landed awkwardly on my arm both feeling and hearing a snap. Fortunately Tammy one of the librarians had just come walking around the corner to check up on me. "Oh Goodness! Y/n are you okay?" She asked coming over to me. "I'm pretty sure I broke my arm but other than that I think I'm okay." I winced. "I'll call an ambulance, just stay down." Tammy said pulling out her phone and dialing 911. I just nodded and stayed quiet. I thanked her for her help as I was loaded into the ambulance. I turned to one of the paramedics and asked which hospital were they were taking me too. "Princeton-Plansboro, it's the closest." The guy driving answered me. Upon rolling me in on a stretcher, I was passed off to Cameron, a good friend of Chase and I's. "Hey Dr. Cameron." I greeted her warmly. "Hey y/n what happened?" She asked beginning to gently examine my arm. "I fell off a ladder while painting." I explained. "Ow that had to hurt." She said. "Indeed, also could you not tell Chase I'm here? at least not yet If I'm just getting casted then sent home, I don't want to interrupt or cause him unneeded worry. However if it turns out I need surgery to set it first then I want him." I asked. "Of course y/n you're the patient it's up to you, for now I'm going to give you some painkiller through the IV the paramedics put in, and get you into x-ray. That sound good?" She chipperly replies. "You do whatever you need to do." I responded. "Well I've given you the medication here's a cup of water with a straw if you need some, I'm going to get in touch with radiology, then send someone to take you there, oh and if your vision goes double, that's normal it's the meds." Cameron patted my shoulder and smiled showing me a cup of water with a bendy straw in it. I gave her a smile and a thumbs up with my good arm as she walked away. Not five minutes after she mentions it my vision does indeed go double. I chuckle to myself also feeling a bit loopy as the medicine kicked in. After a few more minutes a nice looking nurse comes and puts up the sides of my stretcher bed and says she's here to take me to get my x rays and says not to worry they'll get me fixed up in no time. After the X-rays have been taken and I've been put in a new room I let my thoughts wander as I wait for an update. Unbeknownst to me the radiologist has just finished reading my x rays and goes to inform an orthopedist that I need a minor surgery to correctly set the bone, and sends a nurse to put me on the OR schedule, before telling me.
Meanwhile (Chase POV): "Well since it's not aspergillosis, as I told you before, now can one of you go put the patient on the OR schedule for an exploratory lung biposy?" House directs us, upon reviewing the negative result of the previous test. I raised my hand above my head, "I'll do it." I said standing up and heading down to the Surgery floor. I needed to stretch my legs anyways. "Hey Dr. Chase, whatcha need?" One of the regular surgery nurses greeted me. "Dr.House's patient needs to be scheduled for an exploratory lung biopsy please." I smiled at her. "Okay let's pull up the schedule here, hmm OR 1 is an tonsillectomy, OR 2 is a bone resetting- some nice young woman fell off a ladder while painting and broke her arm- that had to hurt, okay! OR 3 is just finishing up another injury fix give the nurses an hour or so to clean and sterilize and that OR's all yours." the nurse informed typing away on her computer. Though I was glad to have scheduled that, I couldn't help but have my interest piqued upon hearing a young woman painter having fallen off a ladder while painting. "Thanks so much nurse." I smiled at her and headed towards the elevator given that my girl was painting a mural for the library today I decided to call Forman tell him the surgery was scheduled and when it was so he can tell House and I was going to swing by the ER to see if I can get Cameron to tell me if she's seen y/n come through and hopefully quell my worry. After the elevator opened I swiftly made my way to the ER. "Oh Dr. Cameron, can I please have a word real quick?" I asked getting her attention and pulling her aside. "Oh Chase if you're here for Y/n she's been moved to the orthopedic ward." Cameron explained. "Oh Shit, so it was her? I just came from the surgery floor and one of the nurses who was doing the scheduling said something about a young woman painter having fallen off a ladder, I was hoping it wasn't y/n, could you tell me what room she's in? Please?" I said feeling slight panic and concern but knowing she was here I knew she was getting the best care. "Sure... floor 3 room 307." Cameron said looking up from the computer. "Thanks!" I said rushing off, I decided to just take the stairs as it was quicker. I sped down the hallway and too her room.
Back to normal POV: So the Orthopedist just left having explained to me I'd have to have a small surgery to correctly set the bone before he casts it, and I had asked the nurse before she left if she could page Chase, explaining he was my boyfriend and now I wanted him. As I waited for Chase I was now focused on trying to get a hold of the straw so I could have some water but because of the medicine, I was having trouble figuring out which of the three straws was the real one. I whipped my head up when I heard my door opening and a big goofy smile spread across my lips as I saw it was my boyfriend. "Chase! Baby! I'm so glad you're here, that was fast the nurse like just left to call you, did you like speed drive to get here?" I ask loopy and happy. "No babe they paged me, I work here remember?" He chuckled softly stroking my hair, knowing the meds have obviously made my mind foggy. "Do you need some help with that." He asked nodding to the straw in the water, having seen me struggling when he walked in. "Oh ya please, the straw's being mean and won't let me catch it." I pouted. Chase bit his lip to stop himself from laughing and picked up the cup and held the straw to my lips so I could finally get a drink. "Can't have that now can we." He said. Once I was done drinking I looked up at him and blinked expectantly. "Yes?" He asked chuckling again at my child like behavior. "I have a question." I stated. "Go on." Chase prompted me nodding. "So like once I'm done with surgery and they send me home, will you- will you be taking care of me? or do you have to work and leave me all lonely?" I asked getting slightly sad at that notion as it passed through my mind. Chase's heart melted at this and he held my good hand in one of his hands and while lightly stroking my cheek with the other he answered "Awe babe of course I'm going to take care of you, I won't leave you alone and hurting, I'm going to take a few days okay?" I perked up at this and enthusiastically nodded. "And we can watch movies? and cuddle?." I asked. "We can definitely do that, I'd love nothing more." He assured me. "YEAH!" I cheered like a kid and Chase couldn't help but laugh. Finally the nurse came and prepped me, I came though surgery with flying colors, and Chase took me home and took care of me just like he promised with cuddles and movies, and keeping me pain free.
