I hummed to myself lightly drumming my fingers on my chin, as I finished reading the text from my boyfriend Klaus. He was going to be preoccupied for the afternoon and into the early evening. I decided I was in the mood to finish an art piece I had started a while back, as of now it was just a large canvas with a curved window shaped cutout of a picture Klaus' brother Elijah took of us, when we weren't paying attention. Klaus was holding an umbrella over us as it was raining, and we were kissing under said umbrella. I've cut it around the umbrella and lined it up with the bottom of the canvas. But I was going to have fun with this and also it was a surprise for Klaus. I started by throwing on my paint overalls and tying my hair back. I also grabbed my bluetooth speaker, deciding some music sounded good. Then I grabbed my painter's tape and covered the picture, keeping the shape. Then I decided it would be fun to document this. So I laid out empty balloons and the painter's tape snapping a photo, I then uploaded it to my instagram story captioning it, feeling artistic. Next I chose out the paint colors I wanted lining the jars up next to each other in a small basket. I grabbed the paint tarp I keep on hand and took it to my backyard spreading it out. Then I brought out my standing easel and set the tape protected canvas on it. I then smiled to myself and take a cheeky little video, "Some might say I'm... up...to... something!" I chuckled to myself as I posted that too. Next I went back inside grabbing the basket of paints, the empty balloons, the roll of tape, a funnel, some paper towels, and some dart board darts. I was excited as this was something I've always wanted to do. I took the funnel and filled the balloons with the paint, in varying amounts. I stood up and taped the paint filled balloons to the canvas in seemingly random, but slightly thought out spots. I grabbed my phone as I had another photo idea. I took a selfie of myself holding one of the darts in front of my face, as I looked determined yet playfully at the dart. I added the picture with the caption, That's an interesting paint brush... here goes nothing! Finally I lined myself up with the canvas then took some steps back putting a fair distance between the canvas and I. Bobbing and slightly dancing to the music, dart in hand, I raised my arm and aimed. Then with a flick of my wrist I sent the dart flying, popping the first of the balloons working from the bottom up. "This is so fun!" I squealed to myself. I line up another dart, singing along to the current song, bobbing my head. "Nailed it!" I cheered after I popped another one. So it went jamming to the music, popping the balloons. I don't know how long I was at it, but I was suddenly interrupted by a pair of arms snaking around my waist and a voice in my ear. "Having fun, making art? and without me? Why I'm hurt love?" Klaus playfully pretended to be hurt. "Klaus! you scared me!" I jumped whirling around, lightly smacking his arm. "Sorry, Love, Just wanted in on the fun, though I'm not exactly sure what's going on here." He laughed and kissed me. I chuckled and kissed him back then held out the cup of darts. "Here grab one. The balloons taped to the canvas are filled with paint. I need to pop them all, working from the bottom up." I explained waving my hand towards the canvas. "Thus creating a splatter, drip pattern?" He quizzed taking aim. "Exactly!" I giggled and watched as he popped a balloon. "Ooh this is fun!" he smirked at me. Then a thought crossed my mind, I hadn't gotten a call or text from him, and I didn't call or text him. "Hey, uh, how'd you know I was here sweet boy? weren't you busy?" I ask curious. "From, your online picture book thingy. Also my problem resolved itself." He shrugged and popped another balloon. "On instagram?" I asked incredulously. "That's the one." He smiled at me. "Since when did you get on social media?" I chuckled. "Kol taught me, I might be old, but I can still learn new tricks." He laughed. "Ha-Ha." I teased sticking my tongue out at him.  "Well did you at least follow me?" I asked sassily. "Why of course love you're the first person I followed, though you've yet to follow me back." He pouted at me. "Well I can fix that." I said grabbing my phone. I flicked through my notifications until I found it. "And follow back. Done." I smiled at him and then kissed him. "Thank you love." He kissed me back. "Now let's finish these balloons!" I cheered tossing a dart. After another fun filled hour tossing darts, we finally popped all the balloons, we were also covered in paint. "There, now we let the paint dry and I make the final modification." I nodded. "Final modification?" Klaus asked curiously. "You'll see, now, first one to the shower gets the first one!" I shouted sprinting inside. But I was hastily stopped as Klaus easily caught up scooping me into his arms. "Orrr, we can save water, be kind to Mother Earth and shower together?" He offered with a quirked brow. "Well.... it is good for the environment... sure!" I laughed pretending to have to think about it. After a good scrub, getting all the paint off , and enjoying a delicious dinner we cooked together. We were cuddling on the couch, when I looked at my watch. "It should be dry now." I informed grabbing the canvas and carrying it back inside. I shook and uncapped a silver paint pen, scribbling my signature, Klaus, love wanna sign it too? You helped." I smiled lovingly at him. "I'd be honored." He took the pen from me gently and stole a kiss. "And now for the moment you've been waiting for... the pièce de résistance if you will..." I gingerly and cautiously peeled off the tape. "Aaannnddd... Ta-da!" I showcased with a flourish. We took in the finished piece, the splatter drip, worked exactly as I'd intended it too. It looked like colored rain was pouring down on us as we were in our own little bubble. A long silence passed and I began to get a tad worried. "D-do you like it?" I whispered. "I- I love it, it's beautiful." Klaus finally breathed and a smile grew across his face. "Really, oh I'm so glad." I chuckled in relief. "However did you come up with such an idea?" He asked genuinely curious. "I was inspired, by a very handsome, intelligent, kind, sweet, artist I know, and his brother who sneakily took the photo when we weren't looking." I joke with a smile. "I love you, y/n." Klaus breathed before kissing me. "I love you too, Klaus." I breathed back kissing him back.
