To say I was hurt, pissed, and upset, would be putting it mildly. I have had one of the lousiest days of my life. When I went to the gym for my daily work out, I was cat called, whistled and leered at, and to top that situation off I tripped on the treadmill because I was so preoccupied trying to keep a subtle eye on where the creeps were so that they weren't near me and ended up with burning tread burn. Then I went to my shift at the island club, which I have to work even through I don't financially need a job, my parents just wanted me to get one, at least part time to pad my resume. The shift was down right atrocious, rude customers, calling me all sorts of names, I had food spilled on me not once, not twice, but 5 separate times, two of which I'm 98% certain were on purpose, more creepy sleeze balls, which my manager gives zero shits about. One of my best friends is pissed off at me and I didn't do anything and have no idea why she's mad, my father hired my douchebag ex, not caring that he cheated on me, oh and also invited him to the smallish 4th of July party my parents were throwing. Which I was not looking forward to dealing with. Thanking god that I worked somewhere with fully functional locker rooms, I finished showering off the scent of grease and remains of spilled food, got changed into a pair of athletic shorts, sports bra, and an old tank top of My Boyfriend Rafe's that is now mine. I made my way to a trash can by the door thinking about how I was going to blow off some steam, you see Rafe's Dad went on a business trip and Rose took it as an opportunity to take the girls to a new spa on the mainland for a girls weekend, leaving Rafe home by himself for the weekend, which means he has invited me to stay the weekend with him, which I jumped at, thankful to be away from my parents and their party planning and such. But I didn't want to bring a sour attitude and make the weekend dour. I threw my soiled and unsalvagable uniform, which was currently wrapped in a paper bag, into the trash and grabbed my things from my locker, where I happen to notice my soccer ball in it. I decided that's how I wanted to blow off some steam, I walked over to the park, seeing as a it was close and b my car is in the shop so I made my way to the gigantic soccer area and decided to kick the ball around. After shooting some goals, practicing my approach and playing a bit of keepy uppy, I decided on bouncing it off the goal post so it kept coming back to me. I let my anger out on the ball, "Stupid. (kick) Dumbass. (Kick) idiotic. (kick) sleazy. (kick) dick headed. (kick) MOTHERFUCKER!" I yelled kicking the ball as hard as I could letting my anger completely out. The issue? I miss calculated just how hard I kicked the ball and before I could react, it slammed against the goal post immediately ricocheting with the full force of the kick nailing me smack in the face. I could feel searing pain blooming through my nose, and I'm pretty sure I FELT my brain bounce off the back of my skull. I dropped to the ground clutching my head with one hand and nose with the other feeling a warm liquid seeping through my fingers which I suspected to be blood from my nose. "SHesh Y/n you alright? That looked like a nasty hit." I heard the voice of my other best friend Topper ask. "I'll t-tell you once m-my head stops r-ringing." I muttered. "Can you let me take a look? I'll be gentle." He requested concerned. "Sure." I agreed knowing he knew somewhat what he was doing. I slowly lowered my hand from my nose as he began to carefully inspect it. "Here let's put some ice on that." He said dumping some from his water bottle onto a towel he had over his shoulder, twisting the ice into the towel and lifting it towards my face. I suddenly felt a vicious wave of nausea rip through me and held up my hand to stop him momentarily leaning my head away from him and vomiting into the grass. "I think I'm slightly concussed." I murmured once my body was finished ejecting my stomach contents. "Ya think?" Top rolled his eyes and placed the impromptu ice pack on my nose. "But considering you didn't pass out and can hold a conversation, in my opinion it's not severe enough to warrant taking you to the hospital, unless the symptoms last longer than 3 days, you should however still take those three days easy. Now please tell me you drove here? you should get out of this heat." Topper asked. "Nope. Car's in the shop I walked." I answered. "Dang it I walked here too, and I was hoping to be able to just drop you off then walk the two blocks to my house. You shouldn't be walking in this heat with your injury." Topper groaned. "Actually you'd be dropping me at the house next door to yours. I'm staying with my boyfriend this weekend." I informed. "Oh well, how much do you think he'd freak out if I called him for a ride and told him what happened?" Topper wondered. "I'm slightly concussed, my nose is still bleeding slightly, with blood all down the front of my shirt, and I just threw up, he's gonna freak a bit no matter what, I just want to get in the cool ac, take some pain meds and lay down." I sighed. "Touche, I'll call." Topper agreed pulling out his phone and dialing Rafe. I just nodded and leaned my head against my knees. I listen to Topper's side of the phone call. "Yo Dude, Sup... uh huh... so do you think you could pick y/n and I up from the park, neither of us drove here and she needs to get out of the heat ASAP.... yes y/n as in your girlfriend... no we didn't come here together... I came for a run and she was here kicking a soccer ball around and absolutely launched it at the goal post and it slammed back and into her face... no she didn't lose consciousness... yeah kinda, a bloody nose and slight concussion, she puked so... yeah... mmhm. see ya." He hung up and turned to me. "He's on his way, how's the head?" he asked. "Throbbing, and I'm still nauseous but I don't think I'm gonna puke again." I said. "Here lean on me until Rafe gets here and have some water." Topper said patting his shoulder and offering his water bottle. "Thanks." I huffed laying my head on his shoulder and waterfalling some of the water before handing it back to him. "We sat like this in silence for roughly five minutes, while I silently willed my head to stop throbbing, Topper spoke up noticing the sweat dripping down my brow and knowing that the direct sun wasn't helping, "Think with my help you could make it to that tree over there, the shade's better than the sun." Topper asked nodding towards a tree on the opposite side of the field closer to the parking lot. "I can try." I shrugged. Top stood up then bent over to help me stand. I wobbled a bit at first the change in position sending my head slightly spinning again momentarily. With his arm securely around my shoulder we slowly crossed the field and sank down under the tree, this time I opted to lean against the trunk. Again a comfortable silence settled until it was interrupted by the rumble of a truck. "There he is." Top points seeing Rafe pull up in his truck. In no time he's scrambled out and over to me. "Y/n? Baby are you okay?" He inquired gently holding my cheeks in his hands while he looked me over. "Eh been better, glad you're here though." I replied. "Alright if I carry you to the car sweetheart?" Rafe asked. Though I'm sure he wasn't actually going to give me the option of walking, more so asking out of politeness than actually presenting me with a choice. "If I say no are you actually going to let me walk?" I asked. "No, not a chance." He laughed gently scooping me into his arms. We got into the car, Top in the back, Rafe placing me into the passenger seat and then climbing into the driver's seat. "Alright let's head home, get you fixed up." He chided softly stroking my leg. "Hey Top, thanks for the first aid and the rescue call." I thanked Topper. "Don't mention it, you're one of my best friends, I would never let anything happen to you and ignore it." He scoffed pretending to be offended. "And thank you babe for coming to get us." I also thanked Rafe. "Of course baby any time, any where." Rafe smiled. He stopped at the end of Top's driveway letting him out, and sending him off with a mock salute as I offered a meek wave. Then Rafe pulled into his driveway parking the truck and turning it off. "Stay right there, I'mma carry you in." He instructed. "That's not necessary I can walk." I retorted starting to climb out of the truck, in a flash Rafe had scrambled out of his side and was standing in front of me hands on my hips as I stood on the running board. "Uh uh, you've got to take it easy for the next few days sweet girl, I'm not letting you lift a finger until your head stops hurting." He pouted scooping me into his arms then carrying me to the house. "It's just a headache, I'm not dying." I chuckled softly then regretting it with a groan when it sends a fresh wave of pain through my skull. "See? besides Top told me you puked, so you're definitely taking it easy, missy." He chided softly setting me on the kitchen counter and rummaging around grabbing a bottle of water, painkillers, and an actual ice pack, handing them all to me then scooping me up back into his arms and carrying me upstairs and gently placing me in his bed. "Now you are going to take those painkillers, and ice your head, then we're going to cuddle, have a pizza delivered for dinner and watch that show we like." Rafe stated throwing me a clean shirt of his to change into and taking the bloody one away from me. "Thank you baby, and only if that's what you want to do." I stated. "Well duh I love cuddling my girl." He chuckled with a bright grin. "Thanks for taking such good care of me baby." I smiled curling into his chest. "Of course I'll always take care of you. Just like you always take good care of me." He soothed gently massaging the back of my head. And that's just what we ended up doing the whole weekend, cuddled, watched shows and movies, while I healed with help from the best caretaker.
