"Do you want to come run with me today?" Conrad asked finishing pulling on his workout gear and looking at me. I place down the book I was reading ready to pull out my normal response of you know I prefer other workouts, when the playful argument from last night popped back into my head, how he teased that I probably could only make it about 3/4 of his run. How I cajoled back that he probably could barely survive my hot pilates class. A Light bulb went off above my head, being the playfully competitive couple that we were he'd probably love to give it a go. "I've got a proposition for you, how's that sound?" I hinted slightly eager. "I'd say you've got my attention, do elaborate?" He asked grinning and laying on top of me, chin on my chest. I reached up and threaded my fingers through his hair earning an appreciative hum from Conrad. "Well, remember how we were teasing each other last night, that we each think ours is the harder work out?" I asked. "I do." Conrad chuckled nodding his chin rubbing my chest as he did so. "What if we tested that theory? I'll go on your run with you today, IF, you come with me to my hot pilates class on Friday?" I proposed eyebrow cocked confidently. "Game on!" He cheered standing up and pulling me with him. "Now get your cute butt ready." he encouraged giving my bum a playful swat. "Sir, Yes Sir!" I teased saluting jokingly as I walked backwards. "Remind me why I put up with you again?" Conrad chuckled shaking his head. "Cause I love you." I replied back from the closet getting dressed. "No, I think it's cause I love YOU." He retorted warmly. "I think both reasons are valid." I chuckled shutting the closet and tossing Conrad his sneakers. "Touchè." He nodded as I sat beside him and we both pulled on our shoes. "Just gotta fill the water bottles and we can go." I smiled pressing a kiss to his forehead, and went to walk away, but he gently grabbed my wrist and spun me back around and held me in his embrace. "Seriously through, I love you." He breathed gaze filled with adoration and he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. "I love you too Conrad." I breathed in reply. Conrad lent in capturing my lips in an impassioned kiss, which I wholeheartedly returned. We broke the kiss leaning our foreheads together, lightly rubbing our noses against one another's. "Okay, now we can get the water." He smiled intertwining our fingers and leading the way. One quick pit stop in the kitchen, filling our reusable water bottles, we made our way outside. "Okay first warm up stretching." Conrad instructs. "Just tell me what to do." I nodded. So Conrad led me through his usual warm up stretches, his protectiveness coming out by having me do a few extra to have the smallest chance of getting hurt. "Okay so, where to you usually run too?" I ask lightly jogging in place feeling pumped. "I run to Chastain Memorial Park and back, 4 miles there four miles back, eight in total. But remember this isn't a real race or anything, so if something hurts, or you start feeling weird or anything, we can stop. We do not have to do the whole run" He prefaced lightly holding onto my upper arms to make sure I understood he was being serious about it. "Capisce, now let's get a move on." I giggle and playfully swat his arm taking off ahead. "Hey! Get back here! you little!!" Conrad gasped running after me. After running ahead of him for a minute or so, I let him catch up so we fell into pace. "You think you're so cute don't you?" Conrad snickered. "Me? Cute? Stop, you flatter me." I threw my head back in laughter. We went back and forth playfully like this the whole way to the park, drinking our waters here and there as we needed it. I was thankful for the banter as it distracted Conrad from the main reason I don't like to run. Conrad led us to a small grassy knoll. "Okay we made it, let's-catch-our -breath." Conrad slightly panted from the exertion. "Yes- Please-" I panted back. I flopped onto the soft grass looking up at the sky as my chest heaved as I worked to catch my breath. Conrad flopped down next to me our shoulders touching and looked up at the sky as well. We lied there for a minute the silence being punctuated by our breathing and the birds chirping. "For someone- who claims to- not like to run-you're sure good at it." Conrad huffed out. "I'm-still in-shape-because I workout- but I have- my reasons." I panted back. "I realize I was trying - to get you to- tell me why?" Conrad wondered. "Well, reason No 1..." I trailed off finally turning to him letting him see my very red face. "Holy Shit Babe! you're so red! Are you okay? have you been drinking your water? Here drink some more." The doctor in him coming out as he reached for my water bottle opening it with the intention of holding it up for me but realizing it was empty. "Yes I drank all my water. This is just something that happens I'm just an over reactive blusher." I explained. "Here have some of mine." He tried to insist. "No baby you need it." I shook my head. "C'mon just-aha! There's a park vendor, hold on I'll buy us some more." He insisted upon seeing a park vendor walk around a corner. "Just wait here." He instructed. "I'll pay you back." I nodded. Conrad just rolled his eyes at me over his shoulder as he flagged down the vendor, he returned quickly with two large cups of water no ice. "Just a second." He hummed expertly pouring the first cup into my water bottle it, almost reaching the top. "Let me top it off." He held up his pointer finger. He topped it off using about a 1/4 from the second cup, then poured the rest of the second cup into his bottle. "Here sips, not gulps please." Conrad gently held my bottle up to my lips, tipping in little sips of water. "I can do it, you drink some of yours." I tried to insist. "Just let me take care of you please, my sweet stubborn beautiful girl." He chided softly stroking the top of my head. "Okay, Doctor." I teased. We sat like that for a few more minutes before I'd had enough. Conrad set my bottle down and recapped it, before picking up his and drank some for himself. "Okay, lemme check your pulse." He motioned for my wrist. "Dude, my smart watch does just fine. Besides I told you this is just something that happens." I tried again. "Humor me, let me assuage my worries... please?" Conrad begged giving me his puppy eyes that I just can't resist. "You and those eyes, fine." I relented holding my wrist out. He placed two fingers below my wrist and glanced at his watch. We sat in silence so he could concentrate. "Okay, thank you, you're within normal range." He sighed relieved pulling me into his embrace. "My hero." I playfully sighed. "Hey better safe than sorry." He chortled. "Okay now that you've assured I'm not dying. Ready to head back?" I asked standing up and stretching. "Let's get a move on." He smiled and extended his hand in an 'after you' motion. Soon we fell into step keeping speed with each other. I noticed he kept looking at me, checking me over. I snorted in amusement. "What? What's so funny?" He asked curious. "You remind me of Robot, from lost in space. Danger Will Robinson! Danger Will Robinson! with your monitoring." I chuckled. "Sorry I care." Conrad snickered joking. "It's one of the many things I love about you." I smiled. "Love you too baby." He smiled. We finally made it back to our apartment, Conrad led the way to the apartment gym and took me through the rest of his work out, rowing, leg extensions, leg presses, lat pull downs, push ups, pull ups, and all the curls and dips at the weight rack. Finally we made our way back home, We sat at the bar stool and gulped down the rest of our waters and caught our breath. Conrad grabbed both bottles and walked over to the sink. "There's a few dishes in the sink, I'm gonna load the dishwasher." Conrad informed me. "Okay." I nodded and hopped off the stool. I made my way to our ensuite bathroom and started the shower so the water could warm up. I rid myself of my sweaty clothes and tossed them in the hamper. I stepped under the spray and started wetting my hair. I was enjoying the warm water when I was startled by arms around my waist. "I didn't hear you get in, you scared the crap out of me." I lightly swatted him. "Sorry, just thought we could save time and water." He smiled cheekily. "Mmm hmm." I Cajoled. After sometime I couldn't hide it anymore. "My shoulders hurt." I whined. "My poor baby." Conrad lightly teased giving me a shoulder massage. We carried on cleaning ourselves before stepping out and drying off. We functioned like a well oiled machine, getting ready together with ease, enjoying the domesticity of it. "Am I driving or are you?" I asked as I finished blow drying my hair. "Doesn't matter to me." Conrad kissed my cheek, while taking the hair dry from me to dry his hair. "I will then." I nodded unzipping my makeup bag. I did my usual, just a light layer of mascara and some lip balm. I opened our closet and chose out my scrubs for the day. "Can you pick my scrubs for me?" Conrad called out. "Sure." I hollered back. Once we both dressed we went to the kitchen ate and made a healthy breakfast then left for the hospital. "See ya later babe." Conrad kissed my cheek after we parted ways and locked our belongs in our lockers. "Let's go save some lives." I grinned and kissed his back.
