44. Two birds with One Stone

"Hey little baby" Chloe rocked Zaire in her arms. He was an adorable precious little boy with black irises like his grandfather. She had taken on the motherly role of Lumi's son.

It was quite sad she was forced into dismantling the mate bond. In doing so she went into labor which wasn't a bad thing since he was a few days overdue. Lumi stayed in her room. Mostly sulking about losing her mark.

Chloe on the other hand was able to be around Lumi now that she didn't carry Trevon's mark and he didn't carry hers. The bond was no longer interrupted, and Chloe was herself.

She took care of Lumi the times Lumi allowed her. She didn't want to speak to Chloe, let alone look at her. It wasn't her fault, but she couldn't help but to think it was. It sort of was.

She had three people that hated her and she was able to protect two but couldn't get in contact with the other. She intended to hunt for Travion since he was her last hope.

But she had to wait for Trevon to get home. No vampires that didn't belong had been on pack grounds, but Trevon wasn't taking any chances now that Zaire was born.

In war, everyone knows a person's weak spot is their children. More so a newborn who couldn't protect himself.

Humming to Zaire as she rocked him in her arms, she could remember when she was pregnant with Sossi. The first time glaring into her eyes, she never wanted to let her go. Even after remembering it was she who tried to kill Sossi.

It was a horrible memory and she's been paying for it for the last few years. In a way, it was her fault. Thinking telling Sossi all the bad things her father did would force her to let him go. He was a vampire with no humanity and holding on was the worst thing for a child.

Instead, it pushed Sossi away forever. Pushed her from her mother, and her other siblings who share different fathers.

The family was weird and it was complicated. It was partially Chloe's fault though she didn't intend on having sex with Travion, she slept with Trevon and gotten pregnant also.

It felt weird to have been marked by both brothers on the exact same spot and also have children by both of them. Sometimes she believed Travion's mark influenced her. He protected her as she protected him.

When females came up to him on some funny shit and she was there, she would check the female and handle it herself despite knowing he didn't mind beating down a female. She just knew they would protect each other for life.

At least until they died but now for life. So she thinks. Glancing down at Zaire, his eyes had been shut and she thought he looked really handsome and adorable.

He definitely got his looks from both of his parents. Lumi didn't like her, but she would always compliment her looks because she was far from ugly.

Slowly standing up, not wanting to wake him, she laid him down in his crib and stood over him and watched him sleep. Something about vampires watching people sleep.

"Hey" Trevon entered the room with a whisper. Walking behind her, he wrapped his around her and landed a kiss on her neck. She felt like Zaire was her child. Feeling like a parent again even if she would always be a parent.

It made her want to have another child. She missed the baby bump and seeing how caring and catering Trevon was to her. Sometimes she envied it when he did it to Lumi.

"I think we have enough children" He read her mind. However she believed there was no such thing as enough. She would never die and it didn't matter how old she was to get, she would look the same.
