Glancing over at Quincy, she saw he was staring at her and hastily looked away. He had been kicked out, however he hadn't come back to the house for anything. Not even his clothes.
Though he didn't let his problems stop him from attending school. It had been difficult for both of them as they shared many classes together. But Quincy could handle it better.
He knew she needed space and he was giving it to her despite his consequences of not being near her. However, Sossi wished he didn't give her space and instead said something to her.
She couldn't focus as usual. He had been staring at her like the first time they met each other, and she still felt butterflies when he did it. She bumped into him twice and he stood there and did nothing.
He stared down at her and she only wished he said something. When she waited seconds and nothing came out, she took the initiative to go to her seat. Which had been next to Quincy's. In European Literature class, he always helped her with work and she was confident in participating in class.
When she needed notes because she hadn't been paying attention, he noticed it and he gave her his journal to copy and she felt awed by it. However, he still said nothing to her. Only looked at her.
Now she wasn't participating in anything. It wasn't tension between them and it bothered her that it wasn't. He's supposed to feel weird or awkward as she was feeling. Maybe guilty or sad like she was feeling.
But she knew Quincy wasn't one to be bothered by anything. Yet he always seemed to be bothered by everything when she was around. Now he seems emotionless. Though she knew he wasn't and was being himself.
The nonchalant person he is. She just didn't like it. Feeling the vibration in her pants, she seemed to have the same reaction to reach for phones and knew it was time to move to the next period.
"Thank you all for paying attention. Don't forget the test is next week. We'll be studying and going over our notes until then so make sure you have all your notes and your journal is prepared.
I'll be taking those up during the test. Have a nice day" Ms. Harris greeted them goodbye. Sossi looked up to see people getting up and she hadn't been done writing notes or close to writing.
Even having the notes, it was difficult for her to write. She just couldn't stop thinking about Quincy. Replaying memories over since the day they met.
Realizing how much of a mate he actually was. He showed her how important she was to him. More important than a girlfriend, even more important than a wife. Yet the argument they had couldn't get out of her head.
She had been punishing herself by staying in his room. He didn't come back and she thought he never would. She wanted to be alone and took over his room as her own. Though she had been sleeping in his clothes and not her own.
Even wore his clothes to school. A plain grey tee shirt and long black joggers that were big on her but she didn't care. She looked like a bum of the streets with her hair up in a messy bun to complete the look.
Yet she still didn't care.
"Sossi" Ms. Harris called her name. Looking up, she saw students walking out the classroom and chattering was building up in the halls. Looking beside her, she turned around back towards the door to see Quincy walking out the door.
She realized she still had his notebook and wanted to give it back to him despite finishing her notes. "Sorry" She apologized.
Quickly getting up out of her seat, she began packing up and closing the journals and stacking them together. Preparing to hold them instead. "Sossi are you doing okay? You've been doing excellent in my class and you're quiet now.
