AFTER THAT NIGHT, I haven't slept the same. My depression got worst, let's just say. I'm out of focus and out of energy. Dumagdag din sa depression ko si Demi dahil wala pa rin kaming naririnig sa kaniya. I tried to call dad but it was out of reach. Nag stay ako sa bahay namin para may kasama si mama, it was a good choice to stop myself from dying.
Napapansin na rin ng mga staff ko na wala akong gana, pero ngayon, I need to make today an exception dahil ngayon ang una kong pasok sa bago kong trabaho.
I dressed to impress, which means stepping out of my usual clothes. I need to look decent. I need to look functional and well, pretty.
"Ma, I'm going. Make sure to eat, text, or call me kung may kailangan ka." She nodded before kissing my forehead.
This feels so nostalgic.
"Okay, ingat ka sa pagd-drive. I love you." Ngumiti ako.
"I love you, ma." I walked out of the front door and entered my car before driving to Benendez Corporation. Habang traffic at hinihintay na umusad ang mga sasakyan, prinactice ko ang pag ngiti ko. But instantly gave up because I can't force a good smile today.
Kinakabahan ako, because I don't know what to expect. This will be a new environment, and hopefully, this won't be a bad environment for my mental health.
Pagkababa doon ay inayos ko agad ang damit ko bago naglakad papasok. Ngumiti ako sa nasa reception at sinabing first day ko, and they were already expecting me. May kasama din pala ako, babae.
"Wait na lang po kayo doon, may magto-tour po kasi sainyo." Nagpasalamat ako sa kaniya bago umupo sa isang lounge habang hinihintay ang kasama ko.
"Am I late?"
Napatingin ako sa babae na nasa reception. I thought that her voice sounded so familiar, and when our eyes met...
"Hey," She approached me, kahit na gulat din siya.
"Ryanne, you're back." Sambit ko. I stood up and gave her a hug.
"Well, yeah. Gia has been begging me to come back here, so here I am." Napangiti ako doon.
Ryanne was my ex, and she's Gia's childhood best friend. They were inseparable, until her mom and her stepdad, who's Japanese, decided to move to Japan with her brother. I heard na may kapatid na siyang babae who's entering high school while his brother's about to finish college.
"Good morning, miss Mansuori, miss Ikari, I am Del Ignacio, I am the company's HR and I will be your tour for you to familiarize the company." Ngumiti kami sa kaniya bago nakipagkamay. Maayos mag tour si ma'am Del, hindi masyadong seryoso, minsan pa ay nagjo-joke siya.
"Parang magkakilala na kayo, mga miss. Magkaibigan ba kayo?" Nagkatinginan kami ni Ryanne, not knowing how to answer.
"We're ex," Diretsong sagot ni Ryanne.
"Wow, really?! Sorry, this is my first encounter kasi na may mag ex sa company na dalawang babae. May mag ex dito, lalaki nga lang silang dalawa. Nako, sobrang magkagalit silang dalawa kasi nag uunahan sila sa isang posisyon dito." Nagkatinginna ulit kami ni Ryanne, pinipigilang tumawa.
Well, I hope that won't happen to use. She's also an architect, and we dated noong college, after the thing between Jed and me. We lasted until she moved away to Japan, which is after graduation. She wanted to end our relationship because she can't handle a long-distance relationship and I can't either, we ended on good terms.
"And here's the office. Magkaharap lang ang desks niyo so when you call each other, hindi na kayo mahihirapan. Your PC's are already set, and I hope you have a great first day." Ngumiti kami at nagpasalamat kay ma'am Del bago umupo sa mga desks namin.
