Camila’s POV
“It’s raining, Mommy!”
I nodded while smiling to Camile when she turned her gaze outside, and it was raining in the afternoon. I looked at the news, there was no typhoon, yet it was raining heavily at noon.
“Can I play outside, Mommy? It looks fun to play outside while it’s raining!” She excitedly asked for my permission.
I was hesitant to allow her because she might get some other sick while bathing in the rain. But, she will only be a child once so I have to allow it.
“Yeah, you can play outside. But, please be careful, Cami.” I reminded her and she immediately smiled while nodding at me.
She kissed my cheeks. “Thank you!” She instantly ran outside and a heavy raindrops greeted my daughter as she came outside. She was very happy while playing outside.
I had no idea how long it could go. Camile became more curious about her daddy. Whenever she asked about them, I couldn’t think any reasons so she would stopped asking about him.
“What my father’s profession, Mom?” Camile started to ask about him that day. “Or, is he even alive?”
My lips parted as I looked at her. I was trying to focus on cleaning our room when she started being curious.
“He is alive, Camile,” I answered her while continuing my cleaning. “And, he is now a doctor...”
Her eyes widened a little bit. “Woah! That’s amazing! So, he saves plenty of lives, Mommy!” Camile exclaimed, being more excited knowing about him.
Like a good mother, I would always get her what she wanted. I was spoiling her too much, I guess. I was always attentive to her needs because I wanted to give her a life with no worries, perhaps, a life that I never had.
I wanted to spent the most of my time with her because she couldn’t be left alone. She was always so clumsy, and curious in every things. It was a great idea when I have Yaya on my back. I have her so she could assist me by taking care of Camile.
“Mommy...” Camile knocked on the office’s door that night. I was a little bit shocked when I saw her awake. I gestured her to come over me. She was scratching her eyes while walking towards me.
I paused the video presentation in my laptop. I will be submitting a video presentation tomorrow. It was for my work. And, it was rush because I had no time to make it.
I faced her when she reached my place. I caressed her hair as I looked at the time. It was already 12 AM in the morning, and she was awake. I was slightly surprised to feel how warm her forehead was. I also touched her neck and nape just to make sure I wasn't mistaken that my daughter had a fever.
“Rest for a moment, anak,” I commanded as I let her lie down on the bed inside of my office. I covered her with my blanket because my office has an aircon. I was worried that her fever might get worse with the high temperature of the aircon. I lowered the temperature before I quietly approached my daughter.
I massaged the bridge of my nose when I remembered that there was no mercury drug nearby in our subdivision. I sighed and was stuck with the choices to just take Camile to the hospital.
The mercury drug was still beyond the hospital, so it is better to just take Camile to the hospital to check on her condition, and in case she has a mental illness.
I hurriedly went on my daughter, waking her up. Nanginginig pa ang anak ko nang hawakan ko siya, dahil na rin siguro sa katamtamang lamig na nararamdaman niya ngayon sa loob ng opisina ko.
