"Ash, what was it?" Jessie asks carefully, as if I might just disappear any second.
"The prince." I say quietly then dive at my desk, digging through all the papers.
"What about him?" Damien says.
"He is way more important to me than I thought." I mutter. I find the folder for my mission and pick it up.
I sit on the floor and slide the papers apart. I look around for the information page. "Did you talk to Bloody Mary?" I ask.
Jessie sits infront of me. "Yes, she said she had no way of knowing if he was a supernatural or not."
I grab the background page and read over it. He is human. A human prince. Oh joy! How has he survived four murder attempts? Why don't the Angels want him? They love humans more than anything.
"What is it, Ash?" Jessie speaks up.
"Nothing." I say and motion for him to leave.
"Did you see a vision?" Damien sits across from me when Jessie leaves.
"Yes." The word barely comes out before Damien pulls me on his lap like he did when I first got here, a move to calm young kids.
"Is that a demon gift or an angel gift?" He whispers.
"I don't know. I've never gotten one before."
We hear a knock on the door and our eyes snap to the person. Dad is raising his brow at us.
"What's going on?"
"A party. Whoop whoop!" I say in a monotone voice.
His brows furrow making his dark eyes even darker. "Why are you acting like children?"
"Because we are?" Damien offers.
"Keyon asked me to bring you something. I have absolutely no idea why he couldn't do it himself but here." Dad offers me an envelope.
I grab it and open it. I pull out a letter.
Ash,
I have important information for you. The assassin's name is Derek, and his mission is to kill the newest generstion of royals. The royals hunt and kill demons and save angels.
His skills are crossbow and knives. He will be wearing a black tuxedo and a red mask. The ball will be masquerade and it is your best shot at stopping the assassin. Your dress is being made and your mask will be silver. Your weapon will be your staff which will can be shortened to something that can be strapped on your back. It will look like part of the dress.
His orders are to kill until killed. He has marks of the best and is only 20. Closer to the prince's and your age. I recommend try to persuade him to not kill the prince.
Keyon
I frown. Well, aren't you just useful? I re-read the note. 20? I've never met an assassin that young before. Hell, I've never met an assassin younger than 30. And marks of the best? I want to see those.
"Ash?" Someone says in my ear. I jump and look to see Damien still right behind me.
"Sorry." I mutter. I stand and gather my papers up into a pile.
"Ash, what is it? You were fine one second then the next you are all gone."
"Gone?" I ask, confused.
"You zoned out. I could've punched you and you wouldn't have known." Damien stands. "What is going on with you?"
"The prince I have to save is my mate. An assassin is trying to kill my mate. And everyone says don't kill the assassin because they will only send more. My mate kills what we are."
