"Come at me demon!" The angel's voice quivers in fear.
I smile, my fangs on full display as blood still drips from my mouth and down my chin.
"You sure?"
I see Keyon walk towards me with one of the shadow swords in his hand. He has the tip facing in, challenging me.
"Princess, you must calm down." Keyon orders.
I snarl and feel a force being taken from me forcibly.
"Where did the blood come from? There is none on Alex other than the dagger wound."
I switch my power and focus on auras. Everyone still has theirs. I pull my wings in and turn to face Alex, seeing his aura disapper slowly.
"Issac!" I cry out, going to hold Alex. "Fix him!"
Hands pull me away from my mate.
"No!" I cry out, over and over again. "No! Let me hold him! No!"
"Did you...mark him!?" Issac asks, looking directly into my eyes.
He must see my demon stir at those words because the next thing I know is I'm handcuffed and laying on the floor with four angels sitting on top of me.
"Please." I beg. "Please let me hold him."
"Down, demon." A high ranking angel warns me, pressing the tip of a sword into the back of my neck. I press myself farther into the ground to avoid the pain.
"Issac, please!"
"Ash! I know he is your mate but you yelling at me and begging me to see him won't heal him faster."
I guess please isn't a magic word then, damn.
"He's dying!" I growl out. "I can feel it!"
"How can you feel it?" The high ranked demon asks.
"She is a royal demon. She also is his mate-" Keyon begins.
"I marked him. He is mine." I shift my arms and yank at the iron cuffs. "I also know when a human is about to die. I collect the souls if they have been bad. I'm trained to feel when a human is dying. Just as I am trained in killing from one of the world's best assassins."
"A human assassin?"
"Not just human, angel, but wolf too. A royal wolf and human to be exact."
Someone who understood our problems with being a half breed.
He humms in response. I watch Issac hold something to Alex and fear spikes in me.
He's going to die! Feed him our blood!
"Where did theses ashes come from?" An angel asks, notcing the prince's ex.
I smirk. A cocky, victorious smirk.
"Ash-" Claire warns me.
I look up to my mother. "Yes, mother? I was just trying to protect him but that little bitch threw the dagger into his chest before I could get to her."
"Who was she?"
"Jessamine's sister. A royal vampire."
"You just love causing drama don't you, Ash?" Issac grunts out.
My gaze snaps to him and there is more blood on Alex's shirt.
I break from the cuffs, cutting my arm in the process and bolting to Alex's side. My wings emerge and block them from us and Issac looks at me in shock.
"How?"
"I'm half demon so it only hurts half as much." I rush out before grabbing Alex. "I need him to drink some of my blood. It will heal him."
"I thought demon blood kills humans?"
"No, it kills angels." I correct him.
Issac holds Alex up enough for me to get blood into his mouth.
I press my arm against his lips and gently massage his neck to make him drink it.
I close my eyes and focus on my power. My angel begins to take control and my marks begin to burn along with my wings.
"Come on, wake up. Wake up." I plead, feeling the burning through out my entire body.
"Ash!" Voices yell out.
I blink and look up only to have a white light blind me momentarily. I shake my head and look to see my wings are now an ivory color and my marks are bright blue.
"What the-"
I'm cut off by coughing. I look down in my arms and see Alex coughing, blood dripping down his chin. I know its mine because it has a darker color than humans. Demon blood is almost black.
"You healed him." Issac states in shock.
I pull my arm away and feel myself stagger on my feet. My balance is gone and my wings curl back up to show marks on my back again.
I...am...drained. I used almost all the energy I had to heal him.
Thank you, angel. I mean it.
"A demon healed a human?" An angel asks in complete disbelief. "That can't be true."
Alex's eyes open as I fall to my knees, all my power gone and sleep trying to take over.
"Ash?" A voice whispers out before darkness takes over.
°•°•
"She healed me?" Alex's smooth voice is quiet.
"Yes, your highness." A masculine voice responds.
Someone shifts me in their arms and I feel sparks. Alex is holding me.
"When she wakes up, do you think you could ask her something for me?" Alex must nod because the man speaks again. "How did her wings change? And what is she?"
"I will." Alex responds and I hear the guy leave. "He left, Ash."
I open my eyes and look up to see I'm laying on top of Alex. I rest my chin on his chest and meet his eyes.
"How'd you know?"
"I felt it. I have a stronger bond with you now." He frowns. "Is this how you always felt?"
"What do you mean?" I ask softly, laying my ear above his heart.
"The emotions. The love, protection, need to..." He trails off.
"Need to what?"
He shifts uncomfortably beneath me. "Need to...mate?"
"Is that a suggestion or a feeling?"
He sighs. "Both."
I chuckle. "Alright then, your highness. Show me your skills."
"Are you sure?"
I lift my head and sit up, effectively straddling him. I see him gulp and he trails his eyes up slowly before meeting my eyes.
I can just see the lust swirling in his gray eyes making them a dark stormy color.
"Alright then, your highness, you asked for it." He states before flipping on my back and showing me how much I mean to him, officially sealing our bond.
