"Father, you can't be serious!" I exclaim.
"Oh, I'm as serious as can be," father crosses his arms and frowns, I'm sure because of the tone of voice that I used.
"But father-"
Father coughs and stares at me intently. That's all it took for me to feel chills go down my spine. Just a simple cough and a glare.
I look up and see that his eyes have changed from their normal brown color, to a bright, fluorescent golden one, "Sorry Alpha Thomas," I whimper, "but you can't kick me out. I did nothing wrong."
"I'm sorry Danielle but you were talking to that Alpha from the Benton pack. We're not only enemies, but you know you're not supposed to be talking to anyone outside the pack. If the rest of our pack found out that you were talking to him, I would be ruined as an alpha."
I gasp, almost appalled at what he was saying. "You care more about having a reputation as an alpha than your own pup?"
"I'm sorry sweetheart, this is how it has to be. I'm sending you to your grandparents' place down in Virginia."
This seems really weird, he would never send me away for something so preposterous. There's something up. There has to be. I just know that there's something else that's wrong.
"Virginia!" I exclaim. "Alpha, that's not fair. You know that I don't like grandma and grandpa's pack!"
Of course, I love seeing my grandparents more than anything in the world, but I don't like their pack, my mother's old pack. It's always weird when we go out and visit, we hardly ever leave their house and if we do we're off pack territory. So I don't know the place well at all.
The Black Stars is a pack very highly known a few states from ours. Ours is Dawn Snow, weird name I know but it's very highly known to other packs. As is the black stars. They were known in the past for being a bit reckless in decision making and being quite dangerous when it came down to it.
Hence why we haven't visited that much. But apparently, they got a new alpha a few years ago. We haven't gone down to our grandparents pack in years, they've come to us, so we haven't met the new alpha yet. But if it's nice enough for my dad to feel comfortable sending me there, then I guess he's turned some things around.
That doesn't mean I have to like it though.
"Danielle, this is the only option we have right now. Plus, I have info from my delta that says the Black Stars have gotten a lot better recently. They're trying to do better, something about the new alpha stepping up his game.
"Besides," he continues, "you're not going to be there long. Just long enough for this whole thing with the Benton pack to level over. I have information that shows them moving north to Canada. Everyone knows that we own Vermont. They'll leave soon enough. Then you can come back. I'll tell you when you can, don't worry."
I sigh, "I've never been without my pack Alpha. I don't know how I'm supposed to act, or what to do."
Which definitely isn't far from the truth. I rarely went to actual school, and if I didn't, I was homeschooled. I was too smart for my own good and eventually they ran out of things to teach me.
I was also incredibly, incredibly secluded by my father from the world almost. I hardly ever got to do things within my own pack. So I don't really understand how it's smart to just send me out, especially to a place that I don't really know that well, and all by myself.
The hell is he thinking?
"Just act like you normally would with your pack at school or around town. Just be more cautious with new people and make friends at school. And when I say cautions, I mean very cautious. You never know who's out there."
