"Hey, Grammie!" I exclaim as I run towards her in the airport.

I'd know my grandma anywhere. Even though we don't see her as much as I'd like to.

My grandma is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. She doesn't even look old, and you can thank the wolf genes for that. She looks like she could maybe be in her late forties, you wouldn't know that she was in her sixties. Her hair has barely started greying, it's mostly kept up its black appearance.

And she's very fit, obviously for being a wolf. Same with my grandfather, who also doesn't look a day over fifty.

"Oh Danielle, you've grown up so much!" She exclaims back as she hugs me.

I chuckle, "Grammie, you saw me just two years ago."

She lets go and growls, her eyes scowling behind her glasses, "Yeah but that seemed like forever ago," she rolls her eyes in annoyance, making her look just likely mother as she does it.

"Sorry," I smile, "Father doesn't get out much, you know that." Nor does he ever let me leave the castle unless he's sending me away like he does or when he has to keep up appearances. Because sadly, something like this has happened before. Though I'm sure this time is going to be a little bit more permanent.

"Yes I know, he's as stubborn as ever that son-in-law of mine," she growls.

"Where's grandpa?" I ask and look around in confusion to change the subject. I really didn't want to talk bout my father anymore at that point. It would honestly just make me upset. Well, more than I already was.

"Your grandfather stayed home, he was working on something important. He's very excited to see you, though."

I smile back as we walk outside to her car, "I'm excited to see him too."

We get in and drive to their house. Which I'll admit gets a little bit weirder and weirder each time I come here. It's just weird to go into another pack territory to stay there. Hell, it feels weird staying in my own at times since I'm mostly kept to the house or certain parts of the main pack house.

"So," I mutter as we roll into the driveway. "Does your alpha know that I'm here?"

"Yes," grandma nods. "Well, I don't know if the new alpha knows. I told the old one and he said it wouldn't be an issue since it's just a visit."

"Are you sure it's okay?" I ask a bit nervously. I twiddle my thumbs a little bit, "I know how their pack can be and I know how others can be too with new people and-"

"Relax, nieta," grandma whispers as she parks the car. "I talked to him myself. It's fine, just like all the other times that you've been here."

"And all the other times I've been with father and my brothers," I point out. "They've always been here with me. But now I'm by myself. What if something happens? Or what if I need to leave? Or what if-"

Grandma gives me a pointed look and opens her door, resulting in me practically jumping out to catch up with her while I grab my things. She always did get sick of my rambling.

"Dear, you really don't need to worry. You'll only see pack members that go to school, otherwise, you won't see any of them. We won't go to the packhouse while you're here. Your grandfather and I never do, unless for an attack or important meeting or something. Okay?"

I huff a little bit as I get over to her and she grabs my face in between her hands, a bright smile on her face. "I promise it'll be fine, Cardino mia," she whispers.

I stare at her for a few seconds before I nod softly. "Okay," I whisper. Even though it's far from what I feel, I don't want to stress my grandmother out. I'm just worried that something will happen, as I do every other time that I come and visit.

Though like I said, I'm usually with my family so I never really have to worry about stuff like this. But now I feel so vulnerable, so lost since I'm by myself.

Sure I'm with my grandparents, but they're older and it would be a lot harder for them to handle something happening. So I'm really praying here that this ends up being okay, or normal, even though my gut is telling me the opposite.

"Great!" Grandma smiles. "Now let's go see grandpa!"

We smile at each other and make our way inside their house. It's a nice little house on the outskirts of the pack territory. I like that they're far from the rest of the pack, it gives me a bit of space from everyone.

I barely see these guys when we come to visit as a family. I've seen some warriors since father is the king, but I haven't met anyone else. I haven't even met the alpha considering this is my mother's old pack. I haven't met anyone in their pack. And I am just fine with that. That's fewer people to find out about my special situation.

"Grandpa!" I yell as I open the front door.
