After finishing the salad, Brody went over and started bothering his mother a little bit to help with the next one. Though he might have been doing that for my sake so I could get away from her for a little bit.
And I knew I was right, when my boyfriend gave me a wink as he pushed me away from him. I giggle a little bit as a thanks and quickly take a few steps back to go over to talk to Madeline.
I practically skip over to the girl, considering it had been a while since I had actually seen her. She smiles brightly when I get to her and she quickly envelopes me in a hug. "Hey girl!"
"Hi!" Madeline says happily as she gives me a tight squeeze.
"I didn't know you were going to be here," I hum and give her another little squeeze. We then pull away and she smiles a little bit as she says, "Yeah, mom invited us for like, a big family dinner I guess."
I nod a little bit and then turn to Titus, who was watching the two of us exchange greetings. I in turn smile at him and open my arms to give him a hug as well. "It's good to see you too, Titus!"
Titus smiles and stands up from his seated spot and opens his arms to give me a hug. He wraps his arms around me and hugs me tightly as he says, "It's good to see you too, Luna."
I huff a little bit in annoyance as I hug him back. I'm never going to get them to stop saying Luna.
After I pull away from the hug, I give him a small glare while my brain was thinking of something else. I was happy that I didn't feel any angry emotions from Brody. I know that he can get jealous when I'm around certain people or hug them or something. He says it's different when it comes to the pups I'm training or if I'm around them but I don't see a difference in when he gets jealous.
But besides the point, I figured there weren't going to be any issues with it. Because one. He knows I'll get mad at him if he gets angry. Because I've told him time and time again that a small hug or something doesn't mean anything. And two. We're already mated, so it's less big of a deal for unmated wolves now.
Besides, if he actually got mad I would literally kill him.
"Titus," I say in a warning like tone. "What have I told you about calling me Luna?"
Titus gives me a sheepish smile and lightly lowers his head a little bit. "I'm sorry, ma'am. But you'll always be Luna to me and everyone else. No matter if you're fully inducted or not. You've stepped into the role beautifully and we can't help but admire that.""Flattery will get you nowhere, Titus," Madeline gently elbows him.
"No," I wave my hands in front of me. "It's alright! Thank you for the kind words! It just feels weird to hear it when I'm not technically Luna yet."Titus opens his mouth to speak, but Madeline steps in and quickly interrupts what he was about to say. "As much as the big oaf here annoys me, he's right. Just because you aren't inducted yet doesn't mean you already aren't Luna. Think of it as like a mother and stepmother role. That's still your kid right? Especially if it's been awhile."
I huff a little bit at her analogy and realize I could have responded with something snappy back. But decided against it. There was no point in arguing with them about this. I just don't feel like a Luna yet. And I honestly don't know if I ever will.
"Yeah, yeah," I grumble.
"So girlie, how're you liking the new job?" Madeline smiles brightly at me. "Haven't really had a chance to talk since you started doing that!"
"Oh," I shift a little bit where I was standing. "I dunno, it's going fine. I don't really see it as a job though. I just see it as I'm helping out the members of the pack. It doesn't feel like a job, it's actually kind of fun."
