It's been about a week since I've talked to Dr. Hawkins, I met up with him one time afterward. And we discussed a little bit about how he did what he did with his wolf being known and all that stuff. It was still pretty confusing, but that's why we're going to keep meeting up to talk about it.
Brody has noticed that something's been off. When I went to see him after I met up with Dr. Hawkins the first time, he said that I felt tense, or even guilty. I couldn't really think of anything to say so I lied to him and told him I was just nervous about helping with training. Which wasn't necessarily a lie.
I was a little nervous about that, I'll be honest. I'm not going to lie about that. But I was a whole new kind of nervous hearing about all that white wolf stuff. It was just a new and different kind of fear."Hey, darling?"
I glance over at him from my spot by the bookshelf in his office. He had to look up some old territory and customs stuff for a meeting the other day and I was helping by putting them back where they should be. Or well, I'm trying to at least since I don't exactly know where they're supposed to go.
"What is it? Am I doing it wrong?" I question.
"No, no," Brody quickly waves his hands. "I gotta bring up something, and I'm a little scared to, I guess."
"What?" I groan and quickly put the books I was holding down.I turn a little bit towards him, I'm sure giving a sort of fearful look. That definitely didn't sound good. I've had enough crap in my life that I've had to listen to and I really didn't want to listen to anymore.
Please don't tell me he's going to say some crap about me, or about what someone did that he didn't like. He can be a little overprotective and jealous in that front. And it severely pisses me off sometimes.
"It's nothing bad!" Brody quickly tries to defend himself. "I swear, I just, it's my parents." Once he sees the look pass over my face he adds on a little bit. "They uh, they want to have us over for dinner."
I raise an eyebrow and actually let out a soft laugh. But once I see how serious he is about being freaked out, I started to feel bad. "I'm sorry, that's what you are so worried about? It's just dinner with your parents, Brody. It can't be that bad, right?"
Brody chuckles a little as he takes a few steps towards me. "Danielle, you don't know my parents as well as I do. And for what you do know, you should be worried."
"I know that," I rush on a little bit. I go over to him and gently grab ahold of his hand. "And I know that it was a little rough the first few times that I talked to them-"
"Rough?" Brody retorts.
I resist the urge to flinch as he lets go of my hand and starts pacing the length of his desk. One of his hands goes into his jean pocket, the other waving in gesture.
"You can't tell me that how they've treated you hasn't been completely preposterous!"
My eyes widen slightly in confusion at the word he just used. I definitely wasn't expecting it. I open my mouth to speak up, but Brody cuts me off.
"Well, maybe not mom, but dad for sure. He gave you so much crap, just for being my mate right when we first met. Questioning you and interrogating you for being a human." Then Brody huffs a little and shakes his head. "Even if you aren't technically human-but that's not the point!" Brody says sporadically.
"Brody-"
"And then after what happened when they came to your hospital room after you were recovering. My dad was such a freaking ass! Insinuating that you weren't as important as everyone else."
"Brody-"
"No, Danielle I hate the way that he treats you! It's freaking ridiculous! I've barely spoken a word to him since I even got back, I just hate the way that he talks to me. I hate that of course, but no the way that he speaks to you I just-"
