"Thank you so much for dinner, grandma," I say with a smile.
"Of course sweetheart," grandma says as I put the last dried dish away.It was New Years Eve right now, and as much as I would love to be spending it with Brody, he's working right now. There were a few smaller things that happened in the pack and he has some emergency meeting with another Alpha right now.
So I decided to take some time and spend it with my grandparents. Better that than being alone, plus I hadn't seen them since I got back a week ago. And I didn't get to see them at Christmas, I was busy being kicked out by my father then. I know he didn't give a damn about it being a holiday when he said it.
"Are we playing uno?" I ask as I head over to where my grandfather was sitting at the dining room table.
We decided on playing a game, but knowing my grandparents they wouldn't decide which one they wanted to play. Hence my suggestion.
"Sure, we can play uno," my grandmother says. "But first," I see her short figure walk over towards the couch. She leans down to pick something up, which I then realized was a lot of somethings.
Presents it seems like.
"No," I shake my head as she walks over to the table with me and grandpa. "No grandma, I don't need any gifts!"
"And we ignore you when you tell us that every year," grandma reminds me.
I huff a little bit and roll my eyes as she sets the gifts on the table. I know that I wasn't with them for Christmas, but they didn't have to go all out and get me gifts.
"Grandma," I grumble. "You didn't need to get me any, nevermind a lot."
Grandma sends me a smile and sits down on the chair to my left, grandpa being in the chair to my right. She doesn't really say anything, instead she just pushes the presents more towards me, then leaning back in her chair with her hot chocolate.
I grumble a bit under my breath, a few things about annoyance. I love my grandparents dearly, but I didn't want special treatment from anyone. Especially because of who I was.I give her one more annoyed look as I take a present from the top, glancing on top to see a small note on top of it. I furrow my eyes and send a look grandma's way, but my eyes widen when I read the note on top. "This is from Theo?"
"Yes," grandma replies. "Most of these are from your brothers."
"Really?"
Okay, now I'm practically beaming! Finding out they were from my brothers makes me want to smile. We never got to exactly celebrate Christmas back at the house with everything going on. I came back home the day after Christmas.I can't help but smile as I carefully tear off the white and blue snowman wrapping paper. I get the wrapping off of it, revealing a small red box. With slight nerves, I carefully lift the box open.
My mouth forms into an o shape as I see what's inside. It's a small silver bracelet, which even though it was plain, it was so cute. I gently ran my finger over it and couldn't help but notice small little bumps over it. At first I was confused as to why they were there, but then I noticed that between the bumps, the bracelet got thinner. In fact, the chain wasn't very long at all, maybe a few inches at most. At first I furrow my eyes, but then I realize what it was.
It was morse code on a freaking bracelet.
Theo and I used to practically run around the house together doing morse code, or even some slight sign language to avoid talking out loud and being heard by father. And this smart ass, managed to put it onto a bracelet? God, I love him.
As I further inspect the bracelet, I can't help but want to cry when I realize what the message is. It says, sisty. Now I know that sounds a little weird, but that's what my brother used to call me when we were younger.
Sisty.
I smile as I twirl the bracelet around, feeling my heart swell up happily. I'm about to close the box, but I see another bracelet in there. This one has a band of pink with an infinity symbol on it, it saying big and sister on opposite swoops.
"Your brother has one just like it that's blue," grandma responds. "He wanted me to tell you that. Made sure to text me as soon as you left."
"Aww," I smile softly.
"Here," grandma mutters as she hands a big one to me.
I grumble a little bit under my breath, but open it nonetheless, seeing her brown eyes dance with amusement. I notice all the wrapping paper is the same, aside from two of them that are red with reindeer on them.
I tear off the wrapping paper and open up the box, seeing a card on top. I smile and pick up the card, seeing that it just says Love Ko, Ro, and Cilan on the bottom. But then I flip it around, to which Konan answers my confusion.
Hey, Cilan didn't have a gift for you so he wanted to tag along with ours. Don't hate on him. He had a lot going on with father so he didn't have time. He still loves you all the same <3
