I hum a little bit as I wake up. I was still a bit groggy, but the light coming in from my window sort of woke me up.
I moved a little bit, not being able to contain the smile from my face after doing so. I could feel Brody's arm wrapped around my waist, the other underneath my head under my pillow. I couldn't help but smile knowing that he was here with me. It was just nice to fall asleep next to Brody again.
All of a sudden the past events from last night hit my brain, making my eyes widen. I could instantly feel my cheeks burning and knew that they blushed bright red after those thoughts hit my brain. God I'm so awkward.
My hand then quickly goes up to my neck, making me flinch at the slight pain I felt there. God, I am also so stupid. What is wrong with me?
I ignore the slight pain that I caused in the base of my neck and carefully exit Brody's arms. I got out carefully so I didn't end up waking him, or at least, I tried to. I then reached down towards the floor when I realized that I still didn't have a shirt on.
Great, because that won't make me less awkward.
I quickly throw the shirt on over my head and take in a deep breath, a delightful scent hitting my nose.
Mahogany and a river stream.
Why the hell do I smell that? Brody's cologne didn't smell like-
Brody.
Wait a second.
I quickly turn around to look at my mate, seeing that his arm was draped over where I was just previously laying. And he was still sound asleep.
As I moved back closer to him, the smell only got stronger, as well as this pull from my wolf towards him. Holy crap. It's Brody's scent. My wolf can smell his wolf now. We can sense each other. I can feel his wolf.
Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god.
I can feel his wolf. I can sense him. I'm going to be sick.
"Brody," I whisper and quickly move over towards my mate.
I ignore the fact that he looked like a literal Greek god while sleeping to wake him up. Just the way he was lying so comfortably, along with his relaxed face, his bed head and god his stubble, he looks literally drop dead gorgeous.
Plus I hated waking him up in general, but I needed to know if he was feeling the same thing that I was. I just had to know.
"Brody," I quickly shake his arm. I hear him groan a little bit and I shake him again, "Baby, I need you to wake up, I need to ask you something."
"Hm," he groans and cracks an eye open at me. I'm sure he doesn't notice yet just like I didn't. But I'm sure he'll freak out if he notices the same thing.
"Brody, honey, please I need to talk to you, please wake up."
Brody groans again and rolls onto his back, just blinking up at the ceiling. I can tell he was annoyed that I woke him from his slumber, but at this point, I didn't care.
"Darling, you know I love you very much, but I like my beauty sleep. You know that."
"Brody," I grumble and move over to sit right next to him. "I need you to smell me."
Okay, now that I said that out loud, it sounds totally weird and totally creepy. Which makes me understand the look that he just had given me.
His brow furrowed and he turned his head to look at me. An obvious look of confusion on his face.
"Dani?" Brody mutters. He rolls on his side so that he could lean on his elbow, his other hand going and gently rubbing my leg since he was right next to me. "I don't know what kinda freaky stuff you think about in the morning but-"
I cut him off with a soft hit to his arm. I didn't notice that he suddenly stilled as I was talking, I was more concerned with his smartass sarcasm.
"I don't need your sarcasm this early in the morning. I know that my request was kind of weird. But I woke up this morning and I swear I could smell-"
Brody makes me stop talking by suddenly grabbing my arm and adjusting himself so that he was sitting upright now. At first I had to blink at him, seeing as he wasn't wearing a shirt or anything. Just the sweatpants I had given him before.
God why does my boyfriend have to be so stinkin hot?
I blink a little bit at him as he pulls me closer to him. I gasp a little at the sudden movement and go to ask him why he did that but one look on his face stops me. His eyes were darker than their normal caramel look. They're more of a medium brown honestly. His face was a little tense and I noticed he closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath as he did it.
"Brody?" I whisper.
He lets out the breath and then opens his eyes to catch my eyes. At first I didn't know what just happened, but it didn't take me long to realize.
He has my scent too.
"Holy crap," Brody whispers and suddenly smiles at me, his eyes lighting back up. I guess that's something with being mated to a wolf, their eyes change colors just like that. "Dani, I can feel your wolf. I can feel her!"
"I can feel yours too," I smile happily.
"Holy crap," Brody smiles brightly and grabs my arms again. I was sitting right in front of him now and he was staring at me in disbelief. "I can feel your wolf, you can feel mine. I have your scent."
"I have yours," I reply back.
"Vanilla and strawberries," he murmurs, eyes turning all soft and making me feel like mush.
"Mahogany and a river stream," I whisper back.
Brody can't help the smile on his face and neither can I. We're so happy it takes us a second to really take in the fact that we have more questions than we did before.
He suddenly brings me forward, clutching both of my cheeks in his hands and presses his lips to mine. I smile through the kiss, actually laughing a bit as we separate.
He strokes my cheeks with his thumbs as his mind starts rambling. "Marking you must have sparked our connection. I know that's how mates usually are able to mind link and feel emotions and stuff, but maybe it's different with being a white wolf. Maybe that's how our wolves can start to sense each other since we marked each other."
"Maybe," I murmur. "This is all new to me. I know most white wolves never even meet their mates."
"Because we didn't even know for sure if we were each other's mate," Brody says. "Our wolves didn't have an outward connection. They couldn't really communicate or sense each other all that well."
"How were we even able to in the first place?" I huff. "Our wolves could tell that we were each other's mates, but not by our wolves? Because we didn't even know that we were wolves, remember?"
Brody hums a little bit and I give him a soft smile, "Hey, it's alright. We'll talk about this with the elders when we go see them later. I know they'll know more about it. They have to."
"I say right now we just celebrate being one step further in our relationship," Brody smiles. "We know who we are, we can communicate now, and I'm happy. Are you happy?"
"I'm very happy," I whisper after feeling warmth spread through my heart.
"And you're not hiding anything else from me are you?" Brody chuckles. I knew he meant it as a joke but I can't help but admit I felt a small bit of guilt course through me. "You're a princess and a werewolf, a white wolf, but you're not like a witch or-"
I groan and slap his chest, which in turn makes Brody laugh from the small inside joke that he mentioned yesterday.
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding. We're okay, right? You and me?"
"We're okay," I conclude and gently lower myself into his chest. He wraps his arms around me and I smile knowing that I could finally breathe in his calming scent. "We're more than okay. I love you."
"I love you," he mimics back with a small kiss to the top of my head. "Can we just stay here for a little bit before we go see your brother and Athena?"
"Of course," I whisper back as I lay back into his chest even more.
I know that we talked everything out and everything is good right now. But I just can't help but still be nervous and worried about everything still going on. I'm still who I am and that's not going to change.
Which means there is still danger for me down the road. Meaning probably for Brody too since he said he's not going to leave me. And there's still a lot of unanswered questions.
Why can Brody and I sense each other now? How come I couldn't even sense him in the first place? What happened yesterday with Daniel? How are we going to counter with all the different packs after me?
I have so many questions and not enough answers.

Brody and I finally left my room an hour after we woke up. We just wanted to stay and relax a little bit without worrying about everything else that we have to deal with. And I know that there's still a lot.
We went to visit Athena and their baby, and to my surprise, Roman and Theo were there. It's no question that Cilan wouldn't be there, and lord only knows where father and Alexander are.
"Dee Dee!"
I giggle when I see Silas practically jump out of Roman's arms and sprint over to me. I noticed that Roman was pouting as Silas ran over, making me laugh even more.
"Hey squirt," I smile as I hoist him up into my arms. "How are you doing? Where's your papa?"
"His papa is right here."
I turn around to see Konan walking into the room, holding a tray of food for Athena. "Hey baby sister," Konan leans down and plants a soft kiss to my head before bringing the tray over to his wife.
"Thank you dear," Athena smiles brightly up at him.
"Only the best for you," Konan says as he leans down to give her a kiss.
I smile at their bit of affection and turn back down to Silas. "So how's my nephew doing? Letting your mom rest?"
"Of course," he retorts softly, cute little nose scrunching up at me.
"I'm still offended that you left me!" Roman calls out, more or less to be annoying. But it worked. Silas gave me a small frown and I chuckled a little.
"You better go back to him before he throws a fit," I whisper to Silas.
He gives me a nod and I set him down, him giving my legs a quick hug before he turned and ran back to Roman. Roman smiles down at him and hoists him into his lap, quickly tickling his stomach. Silas screams softly and starts giggling. Hearing children laugh is like music to my ears, he's so freaking adorable.
Brody had moved over and sat down by Roman after I put Silas down, so now he was joining in on tickling him. Silas had quickly warmed up to Brody and I can't help but smile, feeling love shoot through me. God he's going to be the best dad when we have kids.
Oh god. I said when. No, no. I can't think about that right now. We haven't even mated yet and we're not exactly focused on that. I'm more focused on staying alive and being on the run from people that want to kill me. That's for way in the future.
I snap my head out of what I was thinking about and turn over to Athena, who was holding her baby in her arms still. I went over and sat on the bed next to her. "How are you guys doing? Get any sleep last night?"
"Surprisingly yes," Athena smiles at me, her deep left dimple being very prominent. "He slept pretty well through the night, woke us up twice and I had to wake him up once actually to change him."
"That's nice," I whisper. I lean in closer to get a look at his sleeping face, not being able to help myself. "God he's so adorable," I admire. "You really make cute babies, Thena. Must be all you considering who their father is."
"Dani," Konan grumbles in a warning tone.
I send him a warm smile before turning my attention back to Athena. "I'm glad that you and Daniel are doing better."
"Thank you," she grins happily at me. She smiles down at her son, using one of her hands to gently caress his cheek. "He's a cute one, isn't he?"
"The cutest," I compliment.
Athena smiles warmly at her baby. And I won't deny how happy it makes me. I love that my brother has his mate, and that the two of them are happy. And I love that little baby Daniel was healthy, and alive for that matter.
It makes me wonder what it'll be like for me and Brody if it ever happens for us. I can't wait until the day comes. Well, maybe wait isn't a good term considering I'll wait as long as it takes until I'm not a risk for people being hurt anymore.
"Okay, this momma needs to eat," Athena huffs and adjusts herself sitting a little bit. "Danielle, would you like the honor?"
I smile happily and practically bounce in my seat. I hear Roman and Theo grumble in annoyance as I hold my arms out towards her. "I would be delighted."
Athena giggles a little and gently holds her arms out so that I could take Daniel from him. I put my arms under where hers was and made sure his head was in the crook of my elbow as she lets go. My other hand was under him so that I didn't drop him.
He was wrapped up in a small blue blanket, and I noticed he was in a small white onesie with little animals all over it. My eyes focused on the beautiful dark brown hair he already had on the top of his head. As well as his beautiful brown eyes and squishy little cheeks.
"Danielle," Theo groans from his spot next to Roman on the couch. "I have literally been sitting here waiting so that I could hold him."
"Sorry, auntie gets dibs," I sing happily as I turn towards him. "But," I grumble and get up from my spot. "I will gladly sit next to you so you can bask in all of his glory."
Theo grumbles a little under his breath, but I know that he's happy once I move over to be between him and Roman.
Theo leans down and coos at Daniel, me smiling at the interaction before I glance back over at Konan who seemed to be stressed while he was sitting next to Athena.
