Night confessions (Winter X Reader)

( Quick A/n: I apologize that I put both requests together. There wasn't any prompt and both requests were technically the same thing (only difference was the NightWing and SandWing labels were switched around). Only again, sorry. )

☆ 3rd person POV ☆

(H/n) blinked her (e/c) eyes as she stared at her new school. Her father had his wing over her, in a comforting way. She looked up at him.

" I'm a bit nervous. ", The hybrid admitted.
" Don't worry. I'm sure many dragons are as well. You'll do great, starlight. ", Her father reassured her.
" I thought you wouldn't call me that! ", (H/n) burst out, her scales blushed red in embarrassment.
Her father chuckled at her reaction.

(H/n) carefully slipped out of the comfort of his wing. She walked towards the school's entrance, but then looked back at her father.
" Bye dad. I love you. ", She told him.
" I love you too. Goodbye (H/n)! ", He replied energetically, waving to her.
(H/n) waved back and gave him a bright smile. Then, she turned back and entered Jade Mountain.

It's been a while since (H/n) has gotten used to Jade Mountain. She was sorted into the Ruby winglet, the 6th winglet. She was the SandWing of the winglet. Which (H/n) thought was inaccurate due to her being a hybrid, but if Sunny could be the DoD's SandWing, (H/n) could be the Ruby winglet's.

(H/n) had gotten close to the dragonets in the Jade winglet, especially to the cold prince, Winter. She had admired him, even if he seemed like a huge jerk sometimes. (H/n) believed he had a beautiful and kind soft side to him. She just wanted to see that side of him, she just had to.

(H/n) was hanging out with the Jade winglet again. It was a late night. All the winglets had a big free period during this time. It was at least a hour before the dragonets had to go back to their sleeping caves.

They were all in Moon's and Kinkajou's sleeping cave. They were all going to go to the Prey center, however it's quite noisy as usual. The group wasn't in for a lot of commotion and decided it would be better to stay by themselves. Umber wasn't there and Carnelian obviously wasn't either. Umber was with Clay and Sora. MudWings being MudWings, as usual.

As the 6 dragonets were chatting, (H/n) glanced over at Winter. To (H/n)'s surprise, Winter instantly broke eye contact as he spotted her (e/c) eyes on him.
' Was he looking at me? ', Her mind asked.
(H/n)'s (s/c) scales burst a pale red shade upon her cheeks. She also kept observing the IceWing. She noticed there was a small blue tint resting on his own pale cheeks. (H/n) quietly giggled to herself and her thoughts.

For the rest of the free period, a big majority of the time, (H/n)'s (e/c) eyes were on Winter. She really liked to look at him. She liked to notice the small, yet strong emotions shown on the IceWing's face. She thought those little things about him were the most adorable things ever. She couldn't even compare a cute and tiny animal in the Rainforest to him. He was just too cute for her.

But one problem rose in (H/n)'s mind. She knew that he liked Moonwatcher, the NightWing. It saddened her to see that he might not be interested in her. (H/n) glared sometimes when Winter would look at Moon with his sparkling dark blue eyes. (H/n) wished that Winter looked at her like that. However, little did the hybrid really know.

It was the middle of the night. (H/n) has gone to bed at least a hour ago. The halls of Jade Mountain were still and quiet. The only sounds were coming from small critters or the noises that came from outside the school, filling the walls. But then an IceWing's claws carefully crept upon the floor of the corridor. He stepped very carefully, as to not wake anyone up.

(H/n) slept soundly in her hammock. Suddenly, a cold talon lightly shook her awake. She woke up with a jolt. A small squeak escaped her mouth, but she quickly shut up. She looked over to the dragon who's talon had grabbed her. It was none other than the nephew of Queen Glacier, Winter. (H/n) gave the prince a confused look. Why would he wake her up so late into the night?

" I know this sounds improper, but could you come with me? ", Winter asked her in a whisper.
" Sure. ", (H/n) replied in a soft voice.
(H/n) carefully slipped out of her hammock and followed Winter. He guided her out her sleeping cave and into the corridor.
" Please be light on your talons. We don't need others to wake up. ", Winter whispered in a rude tone.
(H/n) rolled her (e/c) eyes at him, but she immediately went light on her (s/c) talons.

Soon, Winter had guided her to the entrance of Jade Mountain. The night sky greeted the two dragonets. The sky was brightened by the three moons, which lit up the ground below in their pale light.

(H/n) looked up at all the twinkling little stars above. She always liked to look at the stars. Winter watched as the hybrid's face lit up upon seeing the stars. Winter could describe her face as a tiny dragonet seeing a sunset for the first time. He thought that was adorable.

" (H/n). I actually brought you here to tell you something. ", Winter started, breaking the silence.
(H/n) instantly looked back down and met Winter's dark blue eyes with her (e/c) ones. She had a patient expression on her face, waiting for him to continue.
Winter sighed deeply as he arranged the words in his mind.
" I think.... I think I really like you. In a way that I never liked anyone else before. No one has ever been kind to me as you have. You always been so bright like the sun shining across the ice on a cold morning. And I really appreciate it. I'm glad you have entered my life. You've helped me enjoy the small pleasures that are layed down before me. You allowed me to side the tiny sparkles of enjoyment in the things that feel absolutely and utterly pointless. So, anyways, what I'm trying to say is.... Will you be mine? ", Winter confessed.

Small tears escaped from (H/n)'s (e/c) eyes. A smile that was on her face went from ear to ear. She couldn't believe he felt that way about her.
" Yes! Of course I will! ", She shouted.
Winter jumped at how loud she was, looking back at the dark entrance on the mountain. (H/n) suddenly realized and put a (s/c) talon over her mouth. Then, she removed it after a couple of moments.

" Sorry. I'm just really happy. ", She apologized in a softer voice.
" It's alright, just be quieter next time. I don't want the whole world to know. ", He said in a tone, which was a mix of sarcasm and jokingness.
He opened up his pale talons to her. (H/n) understood and quickly nuzzled inside his talons, curling into his pale chest. It was cold against (H/n)'s warm (s/c) scales, but she didn't mind. It balanced out her heat that radiated off of her own (s/c) scales. She felt as if this was were she had belonged. In her new boyfriend's talons, she believed she found a new place that felt like home.

" I love you ~ ", (H/n) cooed.
" No, you ~ ", Winter teased back.
