☆ 3rd Person POV ☆

(S/n) sighed, sitting down on the sturdy stone ground. Sweat gripped down his forehead, the moisture messing up his (h/c) hair. He frowned as he shook his canteen, noticing that he had little water. He let out a heavy exhale, slowly closing his (e/c) eyes.

His cave exploration wasn't going as well as he thought it would. He was searching for jewels, and gems in the mountains, as he heard rumors about the riches. He would definitely be the wealthiest in the village.

He was planning on purchasing some new clothes for this girl he found, hiding somewhat close to his village. She traveled around with a mountain dragon. He never knew why she traveled with a dragon, as they were dangerous and all over the continent.

Suddenly, he was brought out of his thoughts by voices that almost seemed like growls...? Dragons! He immediately got up, with his heart pounding in his chest.

Before he had time to run, two talons wrapped around him. He was terrified, to say the least. He curled up on himself, bracing himself for the bitter end.

" Why are you hiding? I'm not going to hurt you, little fella. ", A soft voice reassured; was that... the dragon talking to him? No, that was absurd.

" How are you talking? ", He accidentally stated outloud, looking up, facing an oddly golden sand dragon.

" You can talk!? ", The sand dragon exclaimed, almost echoing him. The sand dragon's voice was more high-pitched and softer, so he assumed that this was a girl sand dragon.

" Sunny, who are you talking to? ", A voice chimed in from behind a corner, being gruffer than the sand dragon's.

" Starflight! Starflight! I found some animal that can talk! ", The sand dragon exclaimed, running towards the voice, who he assumed was named Sunny.

" What in the three moons? That's not possible! ", The other answered.

" No, no, I'm being serious! He talks! Well... at least I think it's a he. ", Sunny exclaimed.

Coming into a warm orange light, stood a night dragon. A rare species. This one had midnight-black scales, having glints of purple and deep blue in them. As well as having very dark green eyes.

" Animals can't ta- wait, wait, I think I know what that is! I've seen depictions of these in some of the scrolls. Just like in the Prophecy, I believe that this is an actual scavenger. The theory is that they are social creatures, and can be dangerous if, in large enough groups. ", The night dragon rambled, who he assumed was Starflight.

" But, did it say anything about them talking to us? Because this one can! ", Sunny interrupted, prodding (S/n) gently with one of her claws.

" Are you supposed to eat me? ", (S/n) mumbled, still completely rattled by this situation, adrenaline making his (s/c) skin crawl, and his (e/c) eyes were as wide as saucers.

" SEE!? SEE!? ", Sunny exclaimed, exclaimed, flaring her golden wings.

" This is extraordinary! ", Starflight's face seemed to beam with curiosity and excitement when (S/n) actually spoke.

" We got to show Clay, Tsunami, and Glory! ", Sunny suggested, having a wide grin on her snout.

- Timeskip -

It's been a day or two since (S/n) accidentally stumbled into the cave where a group of dragons were hiding from the rest. Apparently, these young dragons were part of a prophecy. They were supposed to end this dragon war and save the continent. With the only real mention of humans being that one of them killed the pervious sand dragon queen, and only communicated through squeaks.

(S/n) was surprised that they weren't going to eat him. Sunny told him that, "scavengers wasn't something they ate". Speaking of Sunny, (S/n) got to meet all her friends and guardians, who raised them in this mountain.

There was Clay, the swamp dragon; Tsunami, the sea dragon; Glory, the rainforest dragon; Starflight, the night dragon; and finally, Sunny, the sand dragon. The guardians were Kestrel, the mountain dragon; Dune, the sand dragon; and Webs, the sea dragon.

Sunny and Starflight were around (S/n) the most; Sunny was more excited about talking with him, and Starflight loved to study him, asking many questions. Tsunami and Glory didn't seem to care for the scavenger, usually doing their own thing. Clay was in the middle, and the dragon often had training with Kestrel, so he wasn't around, but sometimes, he would cook some cow and give it to (S/n).

However, one thing they all had in common was that they all kept the (s/c) human away from the guardians. Keeping him a secret, hiding him in covered crevices when the guardians would come in. Starflight had a terrible feeling that they would eat or throw (S/n) out of the cave, especially Kestrel.

The (h/c)-haired human didn't mind staying with the dragons, as he actually enjoyed their company, despite the often conflict between the dragonets. Plus, he didn't want to disappoint Starflight by disturbing the research. When it was time for the dragonets to save the world, he couldn't wait to tell Wren about this.

Hey, my first Scavenger oneshot, that focuses more on the dragons! I hope I had this well. I attempted to combine both The Dragonet Prophecy, and Dragonslayer elements to do this. I struggled as there wasn't much to go off of, prompt-wise, and content-wise.

So, overall, hopefully, someone enjoys this, and that this doesn't seem rushed. I just need more practice with human and dragon interactions (besides Sky and Wren, obviously. I mean, I'm still on The Flames of Hope. Being in the early chapters, the protagonists haven't gotten to Pantala yet. I want to start reading it again, but college loves to give me a lot of homework and lack of motivation).

I can't help but continue thanking everyone for their support. I apologize if it seems repetitive, but I feel this intensely. Without the positive demand of more of my writing, I probably wouldn't have written this, or some of the previous oneshots. This book would most likely be "on hold" like all of my other books, if it wasn't for everyone. Please keep commenting on this stew of writing, it helps a lot, both physically and emotionally/mentally.
