Chapter 13: A new friend or betrayal

As soon as I walked in, I got glares all around me. It's like a bunch of daggers pointing directly at me, waiting to be thrown or stabbed. I get a uneasy feeling about that. As I was walking to my first class since I come here early, I see Devin immediately trying to punch me and I got hit pretty hard with his punch. When I open my eyes, I can see tears flowing from his eyes.

"You...YOU KILL HIM...DIDN'T YOU?!" -Devin shouts

What? I don't get it. -I said in confusion.

"My only good friend since childhood is DEAD! I think you had something to do with it." -Devin said.

I-I don't know what you talking about? How would you know if I killed him?! -I asked

"It's obvious Jayla, we came into school to learn, and the next thing we know is Thomas went missing. We have been bullying you since middle school and he just went missing. Clearly it had to be you." -Aaron said.

You have been bullying me since elementary Aaron! What about your friends? -I said

"These guys have been my friends since middle school idiot." -Aaron said

"C-Come on Aaron. She isn't gonna tell us. Maybe it's because she is a murderer!" -Devin said as he started to cry.

The both of them left and I felt upset. I never knew this actually impacted Devin since he have been childhood friends with Thomas. After the first class, as I was looking down and was walking to my second class, a girl bumped into me.

"Ah! I'm so sorry. Are you ok?" -The girl asked

I'm fine, thanks for asking. -I said

"You seem nice. Do you want to be friends with me?" -The girl said.

I don't know, I don't seem trustworthy. -I said

"Too bad, we are gonna be friends. The name's Scarlet." -She said.

'It's Jayla.' -I said to her. We both shook hands and I ask what is her next class. For some reason, she has the next class as me, which the last time I checked, Aaron and Devin has the same class as me in second period.

As soon as we went to our class, the teacher introduced her to us and she sat next to me. Aaron was a bit suspicious. He also was sitting next to me too. We then continue to do our work until lunch time comes around.

The other 3 classes is decent but now it's lunch time. I look at my bag and I grab the bottle yet again and drink it down, this time, inside the school. I had to use a straw this time due to being around people. My mask was partly down. Scarlet walked up to me and said hi to me. I had to finish drinking and put my mask back on.

"Why do you wear that mask Jayla?" -Scarlet asked.

I wear it to protect myself. That's all. -I said.

"Can I see what do-" Scarlet said. NO! -I interrupted in shock. I paused for a moment. 'Sorry, I hate showing my face to people I don't trust.' -I said.

"That's okay, you can do that when you feel like it." -Scarlet said.

I smiled but no one can see it. The closest they got is my mask moving a bit. 'Thanks.' -I said

I finish drinking the animal blood and put the bottle in my bag and went to my next class.

I waited after school to see if Scarlet would be there. Normally, I would just walk home but this time since I had a friend, I had to wait.

At last, she finally arrived.
