The ride home was not silent like I thought it would be. I thought that we would keep silent and not talk, but I was wrong.
"So Autumn, thanksgiving is in two days and we plan on still having a thanksgiving dinner. The only people there will be us and Tyler's family. As long as you are doing ok then we plan on having it at our house. Is that okay?" Aunt Mia asks. She is sitting in the passenger seat while uncle Adam is driving. The twins and Eli are in the back row of the minivan. Luke and Tyler are on opposite sides of me in the middle row. I have laid my crutches across us three.
"Yes. That should be fine." I finally answer aunt Mia. I start to get excited. Tyler gets to spend thanksgiving with us. The last day of school is tomorrow so I get two weeks of thanksgiving, Christmas, and a bunch of makeup work. While lost in my thoughts I realize we have pulled up to the house. I let Luke get out first then he raises the seat to let Eli, McKenna, and Emma out. Tyler, aunt Mia, and uncle Adam get out on their sides. Tyler takes my crutches and Eli picks me up from the car and takes me into the house with ease. Since it is almost nine o'clock he takes me strait up to my room. After being put on my bed Tyler brings my crutches in and lays them on the floor.
"Tyler?" I ask
"Yes babe." My heart flutters once he says that.
"Thank you. For everything. How are you getting home?"
"Your welcome. Oh my dad is almost here to take me home."
"Should of we tell them?"
"About us?" He questions unsure of my first question.
"Yeah."
"We should wait and surprise them at thanksgiving."
"Sounds good to me." I reply. He walks over and kisses me on the forehead.
"Goodnight Autumn. I will see you tomorrow with work."
"Goodnight Tyler." I say as he walks out of the door shutting it. I know I shouldn't be tired because all I have done at the hospital was sleep, but once my head hits the pillow I am out like a light.
🍁
Waking up in the morning wasn't the easiest thing to do. First of all I didn't want to. Second I almost forgot to grab my crutches to go to the bathroom. Lastly, I didn't want to.
I crutched my way to the bath and soaked trying to wake my body up. After that I slowly got dressed. My doctor told me to wait to put the back thing on until this morning so I could get used to not being in the hospital. So I called my aunt on my phone not wanting to yell. She comes up the steps slowly but still gets to my room pretty quick considering she is pregnant. After she puts it on me I tell her thanks.
"Oh no problem sweetie." She says,"listen. I know it might seem strange but you can call me mom. Or if you don't want to you can call me Mia. I know I am not your mother but I still am helping raise you. You also can call Adam dad if you want to. It is totally up to you. I will leave you to your thoughts. Breakfast is down stairs." She says as she walks down the steps.
Mom? Call her mom? Although there is a difference between mom and mother. She isn't my mother, but she is like a mom figure in my life, especially now. But call her mom? Maybe soon but not now.
I think about this while I crutch to the stairs. Once I get there I realize that I have to go down two flights of stairs really slow or I will fall. So I take it one step at a time. I make it down the first flight fine but when I go to grab the railing for the second flight I lose a crutch as it falls down the remaining steps. I don't hear anyone in the kitchen so I try my best to throw my other crutch down the stairs to try and get someone else's attention. No one comes so I scream.
"HEY. I NEED HELP."
After a few seconds I hear noise coming from the living room. Then out of no where Tyler comes up the stairs and rushes to me. He doesn't ask any questions just gently picks me up into his arms and takes me to the couch but then leaves again. He walks back in with a plate full of food and a glass of orange juice. Man he really knows the way to a girls heart. Food.
We sit on the couch, talk, and watch random t.v. shows all day. Just the way I like it.
