Lyon woke up after having a good rest. All of his fatigue had been washed away. He went to the kitchen and took out the ingredients from the simple refrigerator made from wood and Ice Beam that he requested Zangoose to cast. Lyon planned to set up a big party for the newcomers. Before, when Lyon was still new to the area and had limited resources, he and his Pokémon ate some simple but rarely seen food as a welcome to the new members. He remembered he and Eevee only had some berries which were traded from Linoone's pack. It wasn't something much but it's a memory he treasured. Now he got used to this new life and also had built a base, he finally could make something extravagant and delicious for his Pokémon.

Seeing Lyon in the kitchen, his Pokémon also came to assist. Kirlia, Beautifly, and Espurr used their psychic powers to help Lyon with whatever his body wasn't allowed to do. Having a child's body was really inconvenient. Zangoose was chopping meat and bones. With a knife, of course. Honedge was put behind its back. Riolu was kneading the flour while Eevee was whisking the eggs. Minccino was grating the cheese, which they got from the belongings of... Well, never mind. Deerling used Grass Knot to create a vine and wrap it around a ladle to stir the pot. Celebi, who had come back when he was still sleeping, was flying around and not breaking anything. Celebi and Minccino had now learnt which they could and couldn't do so he wouldn't get mad at them anymore. Thankfully, his blood pressure stopped rising and also their cheerful playing made the mood of the party livelier. Lyon told Dratini and Trapinch to stand aside, as they were the ones he set up this party for, and watch over Togepi and Happiny who sat on the kitchen island cheering.

-Grrr.

Zangoose groaned something so Lyon turned his head to see what happened. He was surprised and couldn't help laughing at how cute Zangoose could be. It had a pitiful look on its face and its eyes became red and teary from chopping onions.

-Okay, I take it from here. Ask Deerling for Aromatherapy.

Lyon was still giggling for a while as he didn't expect to see Zangoose making that face. Somehow he felt warm feelings he had never felt before. It might be tired back when he was alone but now he enjoyed cooking with others around.

It took an hour to finish everything. Lyon was humming as they set up the table. The island was small for all of them so they moved to the dining room. It's good that he had decided to build a huge table with different chairs (because they're from different species). Maybe someday in the future, he might have to remodel the table when his team increased members. Lyon then took his glass and stood up.

-Okay, I won't say much as you guys must have been starving already. Welcome our new members. Cheers!

His Pokémon were also howling in response. And that was the signal when the table turned into a battlefield. Thankfully, they restrained themselves from using any big moves but he still found it hard to snatch the food. He was very glad now that he didn't slack off on his training or else he wouldn't have any chance to attend this battle at all. After bravely attacking the food, he withdrew first from the battlefield. He was full and satisfied, then rested on the chair for a minute before taking a walk with Espurr in his arms. Lyon remembered that he had cooked a lot in case they ran out of food at the party. Still, the dishes were cleaned out with nothing left on the table.

"Some of them must have eaten more than their usual portions. Well, today is for relaxing. It's okay once a while, I guess." He had tensed up since the beginning of his new life. Now his life became more stable. He had some power to protect himself. Although it's not much in front of the mighty, it was still enough to establish a small place at the bottom of the chains. Not dying immediately was already a success.

So now he had to take a breather or else he would break down. Lyon noticed his Pokémon also needed some rest. His mentality somehow affected them as well. It's a good thing he noticed before it went awry.

Lyon had been contemplating his future plan for a very long time. Before, when he was thrown into this world and spawned right in the middle of the forest, he didn't have any information about which direction would lead to the nearest human settlement so he hadn't been able to get out of the Enchanted Forest full of magical beasts which were very dangerous for even an adult to live in. Yes, they were the familiar Pokémon he knew. But he wasn't naive to think they had no potential threats at all. Some species were friendly. Others were not. The proof was that he had to constantly avoid the predators when he was outside, accidentally stepping into some territories for example. He was so used to danger that sometimes he could even catch a glimpse of death. "In the eyes of the Grim Reaper, I must be an annoying insect." As someone who had escaped from him once, Lyon still had the audacity to keep wriggling in front of him.

He knew. Of course, he knew that was dangerous. But then again, after some mulling over this, he still decided to stay. Leaving was easy as he could draw a map of the groups' territories from all around here. The stronger ones would be deeper in the forest because of more resources. He just had to walk towards the weaker group and eventually out of the forest. But what about after that. He left the forest and went to the city for example. So what? He was an orphan with no identity live. Let's assume he attained a stable life. How many years would it take? And how long until he could afford to have a Pokémon? Or the second? The third?

No matter how hard he thought, he had to take a long way around for chasing his dream. "This is a Pokémon world, d@mn it. I ain't going to waste my time. I rather burst into flames than quietly dim down. It's just dancing on the rope of death. No big deal. It's not like I haven't died before." Lyon paused a minute then resumed walking. "Okay, the last part was stupid. I stay in the forest because of the resources. Still, I should always be careful."

He concluded his train of thoughts and sat down under a tree nearby a pond. As a breeze brushed through his hair, he felt refreshed. The palm of his hand was wet from something touching. Lyon looked down to search for what it was and found out Deerling was licking his hand. "Is it because Deerling feels my line of thoughts in turmoil? Is this its way to console me?"

Lyon let out a small laugh and started petting its head. Deerling was now much bigger than its species average. This was the result of training every day. Especially its head and legs were developed as they would be its main weapons. But he still wanted to max out or even reach past its limit before evolving.

Lyon still felt it was a shame that Eevee and Kirlia had to evolve in emergency back then. There's no option but... Now he racked his brain from finding a way to restore and enrich their potential, which he would spend less effort on if they didn't have to evolve early. Fortunately, this forest wasn't lacking in resources and the belongings he looted had a lot of useful things. Especially in Joltérax's belongings, a lot of those things, which scared him out of his wit at first, were made of legendary materials. Even though they were losing their energy over the years to the point that some of them had absolutely no energy left, they could still be used to create items for his Pokémon.

Lyon glanced at Espurr in his arms. It still kept that dumb look on its face and stared at the pond intensely. He was patting Deerling's back with his right hand and caressing Espurr's warm fur with his left. "This is bliss." – he thought. The smell of grass lingered in the air. The cool wind blew and carried water vapor away. The sound of the forest was chiming in his ears. Never before had he felt so serene. "If only things always stay the same, then every day is so wonderful."

Lyon chuckled to himself, knowing such a thing was impossible as he had decided to travel the world after a few years passed. He remembered in the series the kids headed out for the adventure early. He still thought ten years old was too young but... Well, he couldn't be lagging behind, right? Not to mention something so far for the future, at the present he had already been surrounded by all kinds of trouble. But for now, a moment like this remained for a little longer wouldn't be so bad. As his thoughts wandered, he admired the starry sky at night.
