46. Preparation

Lyon was now back in his base. He dazedly stared at the air while caressing Minccino's fur. People might have thought he was ascending if they saw him in this state. The cutie pie knew her trainer was in trance from his entangled thoughts so she stayed put to not interrupt him.

Lyon had been in this state ever since he came back from the valley. He wanted to think of a good plan but he still couldn't guarantee their own safety. His opponents were two organizations who somehow cooperated with each other. Such a high risk made his resolve waver.

Looking at Celebi who now was restless, Lyon knew he needed to make a decision soon. But he still didn't have a clue. He should help as this was the first time Celebi had ever asked him anything. Even though they were living in the forest as a group, they could be considered at the bottom of the food chain. There were many more powerful Pokémons in this area. But usually, aside from aggressive ones, none of them would bother or initiate anything and they often gave him friendly responses. Lyon knew that they were giving Celebi face since he was taking care of the Guardian of the Forest.

Like when he tried to rescue Togekiss's group, would the Pokémon in the area gather and simply listen to a nobody's command. He already knew the answer. It's different from when they faced Ariados as they were in the same situation of taking one step to the grave. They only agreed to listen to his command for a while in fear of death. And Lyon noticed that ever since Celebi came, his life became relatively easier as he didn't have to be constantly straining his mind and wary of other Pokémon's attacks.

Still, he hesitated. "This doesn't relate to me. Why does it matter if something happens to an unknown Pokémon, whether they die or not?" This kind of thought kept circling in his brain. And as the fear crept into his mind that something might happen while they were proceeding with the plan, he almost dropped the courage he just gathered. He wasn't like this before. Too cautious of everything. But experiencing death changed him. At first, his mentality wasn't stable especially when he was traumatized by his own death and couldn't handle all these overwhelming fear. Lyon had thought that it subsided when he started living with his Pokémon but it was still there, somewhere in the corner of his consciousness.

If there were anybody who told him something like "I'm not afraid of death. It's not like I didn't die before.", he would f#cking run away at the sight of their silhouettes. What a crazy line of thought! Just who would want to die twice? No matter who they were, he definitely didn't want to catch their insanity. But ironically, as he wanted peace, somehow he found himself caught in various dangerous situations. And now he even considered initiating another event himself.

-Pii pii.

Celebi was floating in front of him. Lyon snapped out of the trance and stared back at the green onion. Considering the time they were acquainted with each other, Lyon didn't believe Celebi would do any harm to him. So he asked:

-Hey, Celebi.

-Pii.

-Why me? I mean... Why are you asking me to help? You can ask other Pokémon and I believe they are much more powerful than us.

-Pii pii pii.

Now Lyon didn't have to remind Riolu of translating Celebi's response as Riolu did his job the moment Celebi stopped talking. But when Lyon heard the reason, it still surprised him a bit. The green onion stated that things might take a turn for the worse if others interfered. And also Celebi felt that Lyon would succeed. That's it.

But what surprised him was that Celebi 'felt' it. This wasn't a concrete reason yet he somehow was relieved after hearing the word. Celebi was a dual-type Psychic/Grass Mythical Pokémon. Lyon remembered that aside from healing wounds, plant-related ability, etc., what made Celebi distinct from others was the ability to Time Travel. With the exception of Dialga, Lyon believed Celebi had the highest affinity with time abilities. So he trusted the green onion's feeling as it must be similar to Future Sight.

Though to be sure, Lyon asked again and got confirmation from Celebi that there wouldn't be any death-threatening situations as he would always find a solution. Yes, there would be dangers. But he believed they were okay with some small risks. Now he could be at ease to do whatever he wanted.

Lyon started making preparations to execute his plan. As two organizations were cooperating for some reason, there was a pretty good chance that the cave was full of criminals. So he needed information like the layout of the cave, how many people, their positions, etc. As both Kirlia and Espurr weren't proficient at Hypnosis and Mind Reader, he intended to hire another Pokémon for gathering more information.

While contemplating which Pokémon would be suitable, Lyon suddenly recalled a Pokémon he had met before. Back when he picked up the Pokéballs from the criminals at the place where Togekiss's group lived, he decided to kill those who felt hostile towards him as he was the reason for their trainer's death and release the rest somewhere in the forest. Only a couple of them were finished off. The others didn't care if their trainer died or even felt grateful towards Lyon for setting them free. And among them, he had a deep impression of a Hypno because it was pretty powerful. Lyon guessed Hypno was in the possession of the female leader of the criminal group. Things might have turned out differently if she had chosen to send out Hypno instead of Mandibuzz. Well, probably because Hypno didn't listen to her order.

Lyon concluded that Hypno was the most suitable as it was a powerful Psychic Pokémon who was known for its hypnotic abilities and there was a high chance Hypno accepted his deal. Now he waited for Celebi to invite Hypno here. As long as the preparation was done, he could conduct a more thoroughly scouting.
