Reincarnated in a Pokémon world

33. Drop

Lyon remembered when he first opened his eyes in this world, the green sapphire on his pendant turned to ashes. He hypothesized that the green sapphire was the cause of his reincarnation, and it turned to ashes as the result of exhausting all of its energy. Lyon simply thought he was fortunate to be granted a second chance to live. But now, seeing how Celebi just whipped out a green sapphire and put it on his pendant easily with no hesitation before Lyon was even able to react made him really wondered if there's any chance his reincarnation related to Celebi.

"It may have answers to my questions about reincarnation." This thought almost drove him crazy when no matter how Lyon tried to communicate with Celebi, it still acted like a little baby who didn't know how to speak yet!!! All it could do was flying around and chirp chirp chirp! After trying for a while, he gave up. Judging from the fact it had acted cute to get food, Celebi definitely had high intelligence. Then it likely refused to speak with him.

After washing the dishes, Lyon picked up the Togepi egg. He intended to put it in the newly-made egg incubator. Although Lyon learnt from Blissey that Pokémon egg would eventually hatch under a normal environment, he still wanted to make Togepi feel as comfortable as possible. The incubator would keep the egg warm and in suitable humidity. It surely would help the egg hatch earlier than normally. And making a simple incubator for Togepi wasn't hard when he got all the needed materials.

But as Lyon merrily walking towards the incubator, he received a hit from behind. And because of that sudden impact, Lyon dropped the Togepi egg.

Everyone in the room, no matter what they did at the moment, stopped what they were doing, turned to look at the cracked egg on the ground and froze.

...

Time. Stood. Still.

After struggling with his mind for a while, Lyon still couldn't comprehend what just happened. He wanted to believe that the egg was okay. Unfortunately, with such a loud sound and such a large crack appeared on the shell, there's no way the egg was alright. He also wanted to pick it up to examine but he was too afraid that the inside of the egg might pour out if he did so.

Lyon turned around to look at the culprit that made him drop Togepi egg. Stood there a trembling gray Pokémon with its mouth opened wide. Minccino still hadn't recovered from the shock. And when being stared at by Lyon, it nervously looked back with eyes full of tears.

- MINC.CI.NO!

Minccino kept saying sorry and bowing its head repeatedly after hearing Lyon called. It sounded remorseful for what had happened and tried to explain the situation earlier. Lyon had Riolu translate Minccino's words and finally understood what had happened. Apparently, Minccino and Celebi were playing. But that green onion had too much fun and accidentally used its psychic power to throw Minccino in the air. The result was Minccino hit the back of Lyon and he dropped the egg.

After Minccino finished explaining, it turned its head to look at Celebi for confirmation but there was no sight of that sh!tty green onion. Minccino couldn't find whereabouts of its new friend. It then understood that Celebi had run away. Minccino had a look of a naive person who just recognized he was betrayed.

Lyon felt like he's going to have a headache so he decided to delay its punishment. And the most important thing to do right now wasn't meting out punishments but how to deal with this mess. Looking at the cracked egg on the ground, he felt like his heart was torn apart. Lyon and his Pokémons were really happy while thinking they would welcome a new member to their home. But... He hoped the membrane didn't get cracked. Unfortunately, judging from how loud the sound was, it was unlikely so.

Minccino was now sobbing like a child. It's also expecting a new family member. Lyon knew that Minccino was counting down the day Togepi would come out of the shell by checking the egg every night.

- Haizz.

Lyon couldn't help but sigh upon seeing how sad Minccino became. He didn't know what to say to make Minccino feel better. Lyon decided to pick up the egg and check if there's a way to fix the egg and save Togepi. There's no use in trying to delay what's to come.

But to his surprise, Lyon could feel the egg was slightly moving in his arms. "Wha-- Maybe it's still alive?" He really hoped it would be the case. Then everyone could see the egg started glowing gently.

"YES!!!" Lyon wanted to jump in delight but he had to restrain himself from doing so. The egg glowed because it gathered the energy in the air and that also proved Togepi was alright. "This is a crucial time. I don't want another drop." He put the egg gently on the ground and everyone flocked together to witness this important moment.

Wait a minute! There's something weird mixed up in the crowd. Lyon thought he had seen the silhouette of that sh!tty green onion. "Just where were you when I started scolding, huh?" Lyon also wanted to teach Celebi a lesson but unfortunately, he couldn't do anything to it. He gave up and focused on watching Togepi's birth. Well, Lyon couldn't do anything to Celebi, but that didn't mean he wouldn't punish Minccino. He intended to change the training schedule and let Minccino had a glimpse of what hell was like.

A part of the shell was cracked. Now that part started to fall off and a cute Togepi emerged from the egg. It was a small, light yellow Pokémon with a round body that was still encased in its eggshell. The Egg had red and blue shapes on it. Togepi had stubby hands, round feet with two toes each, black eyes and five spikes on its head that seemed to form a crown. It also had semi-oval, brown pads on the soles of its feet.

Everyone was very happy to see Togepi's appearance. The egg had to be about to hatch so Togepi had already been formed inside before the drop. Lyon was glad that everything turned out quite well. He thought egg hatching was something simple. They just needed to wait and watch the process. It's never once been on his mind that such an accident could occur.

Lyon intended to leave Togepi in his Pokémons' hands. He wanted to rest a bit. Unfortunately, just when Lyon put his butt on the sofa, Togepi started crying.

"When the egg hatched, Togepi still cutely looked at them. Why was it suddenly...?" He immediately examined Togepi to see what was wrong. There's a little bump on its head. Lyon then asked his Pokémon to take some medicine but forgot to specify who. And at that moment, they dispersed into chaos.

"Urgh, I think I have a headache." The veins on his forehead were about to pop when Lyon heard all kinds of sounds coming from their so-called searching. "I asked for medicine, not for wrecking the house!!!" The worst thing was they were not the ones who had to clean up. He was!!!

Finally, Minccino came with medicine on its hands. Lyon immediately applied it to Togepi's head. After a while lulling Togepi to sleep, he put it down and had others take the babysitting role. Lyon then jumped onto the bed, ignored the fact that their house was now a mess. He could clean up tomorrow, but right now he's desperately in need of a rest.
