Reincarnated in a Pokémon world

4. Eevee

Lyon felt something pressed hard on his chest and before he knew what it was, he already threw up water all over the place. His throat was burning and his eyes were stinging. After a while, he stopped puking and raised his head to look around.

Appeared before his eyes was a mammalian, quadruped creature with primarily brown fur. The tip of its bushy tail and its large furry collar were cream-colored. This Pokémon had short, slender legs with three small toes and a pink paw pad on each foot. It had brown eyes, long pointed ears, and a small black nose°.

- Eevee?

Lyon was surprised at what he was seeing. Isn't Eevee supposed to be rarely found in the wild? Oh, right. This world was probably a little different from the Pokémon world in anime and such. Lyon remembered there was something had pressed on his chest earlier. There was nothing aside from Eevee. Had it just performed CPR? Could Pokémon be this intelligent? He startled at the thought popped in his mind. Looked back, Lyon saw that it was quite a distance between him and the bank. There were some animal footprints, probably from Eevee, and a dragging trail from under him all the way to river. "This little cutie had saved my life."

- Thank you a lot. I owe you my life.

Eevee licked his face as an answer. Lyon couldn't help laughing. He just escaped from the hand of the dead again. Suddenly another figure came to his mind. He remembered that when he'd been buffeted in the water, Chinchou had come to help him. Where was it now? Lyon looked around again but saw no other Pokémon in sight. He turned to Eevee which was next to him and asked:

- Do you see any other Pokémon around?

Eevee tilted its head in wonder. Lyon had to describe carefully how Chinchou looked but Eevee shook its head, gave him a no for an answer. "Well, Chinchou is probably not here anymore. I want to say thank you though."

There was something kept twirling around in his mind. And it just got clearer when he saw that Eevee didn't leave and sat next to him. It was a friendly Pokémon species but they shouldn't be this unguarded to human. Eevee had very high intelligence, could understand human speech and also knew how to perform CPR. It proved that Eevee used to live with human and was trained properly.

- Do you want to stay with me?

As if it tried to confirm his words, Eevee raised its head and looked at his eyes. Lyon then asked again, tried to be as honest as possible.

- I want to be your trainer. We will be partners. And I try my best to make you stronger. Do you want to come with me?

After hearing what he said, Eevee lowered its head, tried considering his offer and looked at his eyes again. Then Lyon received a nod as an answer. Happiness came so sudden that he couldn't believe it was real. Lyon only had an attempt because he thought that Eevee might agree when it was used to living with the human. That was probably the reason it decided to save him. But when it actually did agree, he still couldn't believe it.

- Thank you! Please treat me well from now on. I'm Lyon Heinberg. It's such a pleasure to meet you.

He lifted it up, put a kiss on top of its head and twirled in delight. "This is my first Pokémon. Yay!"

- Oh, right! Could you lead me to a shelter nearby? It's getting dark.

Eevee nodded its head and barked a cute sound. Lyon put it down on the ground so it could lead the way. Eevee took a few steps forward and he immediately followed into the forest.

It had been a few days since Lyon came to this world. His life became easier with Eevee around. It showed him the way to survive in the forest. He now knew how to collect edible berries, plants, mushrooms and the like. He also knew how to start a fire. Never did that before in his life.

Lyon had given Linoone and Zigzagoons some rare berries as a token of gratitude and they really liked it. Thanks to Eevee, Lyon learnt to communicate with other Pokémon though they could only comprehend roughly what he meant to say. Other humans wouldn't know all of this. If Lyon didn't have met Eevee, he would probably be chased after by some Pokémon in the forest.

Lyon was really surprised when he learnt that Eevee already knew most of the moves. It seemed like he got hit by a stroke of luck. Now he only had to make Eevee learn other moves like those could be learnt by move tutor, TM, breeding and such. Eevee probably had to train a lot to finally able to use those moves. The good thing was Eevee had a lot of potentials. It only worked well because Eevee had the ability to put his theories into practice.

Lyon and Eevee walked towards the area where a swarm of Beedrills stayed. He thought of getting some honey to make food for Eevee. Lyon wants it to grow perfectly so eating only berries is a no.

They were hiding in the bush. Lyon would lure Beedrills away while Eevee would stay and wait for a chance to steal the honey. Lyon would probably have to jump into a stream to shake them off. And Eevee would come back with the stolen honey. Hell no! What a horrid plan! They only needed to ask nicely and traded without a problem. Peacefully! After all, Beedrills was a bit like bees. You just make sure to not agitate them.

Lyon came back to the cave with the honey in his hand. He thought of the flower nectar they had got from Bellossoms yesterday. With it and honey he got today, Lyon could finally make some good stuff for Eevee. It's like back in the time when he holed himself up in the room and did some stupid experiments. Lyon was really excited these days because liked to do this after all. Eevee was also in a good mood. It probably understood that it was going to have a treat.

The cave was not so big but more than enough for him and Eevee to settle down. Lyon brought out his handmade utensils and started to make food. He could conduct his experiment later. The important thing was to fill your stomach. "A hungry belly has no ears", they say. Eevee seemed to like his food. Lyon also enjoyed his lifestyle now. "It's not so bad, huh?"
