Lyon sat in the corner while observing groups of people sitting around the room. There was no common point among them and a wide variety of characteristics, so much so that he didn't know how to categorize them. He was only able to roughly distinguish between old and new members based on how dirty and tattered their clothes were or how skinny they became.

Lyon frowned upon seeing the negative emotions which were shown on their faces. Among them, only a handful of them was still able to keep their sanity, while it was simply beyond the capabilities of the others. Those were terrified. Some agonized in despair. Especially most of the old members had given up as the light in their eyes had already extinguished. This scene made his stomach churn. Just what happened that caused such a situation to appear?

Lyon glanced over everyone in the room but didn't find any trace of torture. Aside from their deteriorating mental health, they only had some signs of lacking malnutrition. For a minute, his brain was, like, overdriven from trying to analyze the reason why they were in this state. But then his eyes caught a familiar face. After observing for a while, Lyon finally deduced who she was. Due to a lot of dirt on her face, she was hardly recognizable. But Lyon who had a super huge impression at their first meeting was able to recall his pop-out-of-nowhere sister. Although he recognized her, Lyon decided to give her no more attention. As she locked eyes with him for a brief second, the strangeness he detected in her eyes made him certain that she didn't even remember him. Interestingly, she was one of a few people Lyon found life still existing in their eyes.

He ignored her and turned to observe the others. Lyon especially paid attention to two peculiar men. One was a teenager sitting further behind. What intrigued Lyon was how that he didn't move at all and kept staring at the door with fiery eyes like an animal patiently waiting for a chance to pounce. He kept murmuring something on his own. Although it seemed he had never given up on getting out of this place, he obviously must be under a lot of stress. The other one was an average middle-aged man lounging beside the wall. It was bizarre to see a person relaxing in this situation. Lyon studied that man with his eyes and came to the conclusion that he might be under disguise from some small contradictions he unintentionally showed. He had a common appearance that was likely to forget but had a muscular body that likely came from many years of training. Although his posture looked like he was in a relaxed state, Lyon couldn't sense any weak point. It's just a hunch but Lyon was certain that this man had never dropped his guard. And Lyon could feel that he was studying every detail in the room, that included the newcomers. Lyon tried to maintain his expression. He didn't want to make some stupid mistakes and get caught. Lyon was wary about which side the man was on. It was good if this man was their rescuer or something. Although it was likely that these organizations must have sent this man here and planted him to monitor this group.

Lyon leaned on the wall behind to have a quick rest. He was tired from the whole ordeal. It was too much for this petite body. After a while, Lyon opened his eyes as the heard another commotion from the door. But then he had to blink twice before looking at the absurd scene unfolding in front of him. While the newcomers were bewildered and frozen in place, the old members all swarmed to the door and fought against each other like a bunch of crazy b!tches for a spot closer to the door. For a second, Lyon thought that he had fallen into the depths of h€ll as he watched this pandemonium. He saw food and water given through a hole under the door. The amount was definitely not enough for everyone. That was the moment he realized why most of them sat tightly close to one side and left a lot of empty spaces.

"Why though?" – Lyon contemplated over the reason they were fed sparingly. That was when he overheard the conversations between the guards outside the door. Because he was sitting quite far away from the door, he didn't clearly listen through the details but that was enough to make him feel nauseous. Lyon focused on breathing to suppress his emotion while the guards kept describing what the victims had to go through in their experiments, how much suffering they had to endure before finally dying,... They definitely knew that the people in these cells would hear their conversations. Instead of lowering their voices, they unrestrained themselves from speaking loudly and clearly enjoyed it.

The faces of a lot of people were getting paler. Those who were unfazed mostly had given up. The girl and the teenager were a bit shaken. And the man squinted his eyes. Lyon was repulsed by the disgusting conversations that were spouting from those nasty mouths. This was no different from mental torture. The thought of waiting for their turn to get terrible doom was frightening. If he was in the position of the victims, he must have been puking right now.

Lyon lowered his right hand to touch his belly to calm himself. It was warm and he could feel Ditto's reaction to his touch. He now felt more secure to know he had his Pokémon always by his side. Lyon leaned back on the wall, lowered his head, and closed his eyes again to rest. He and his Pokémon had already eaten and later he could secretly eat some chocolates to pass his meals. Now he needed to preserve his stamina as he planned to move when the night came.
