| Chris' POV |

I called the detective on our case and told him December confessed where Shiloh was. He said he'd meet me there. However, I didn't tell Devin, because I didn't want to get his hopes up incase December led me on some wild goose chase.

Just as I parked town the street from the park in the center of town, my phone started to ring. I picked it up and saw Ricky's beautiful picture on my caller ID.

"Hey, Baby." I answered, glancing at the clock in my car. "What are you doing up this late?"

"I was just about to go to bed, but I wanted you to know that December just came to Kuza's, looking for me. Mike said I wasn't here and threatened to call the cops. That seemed to scare him off." He explained.

I sighed. "I knew they'd figure it out, but Mike will protect you. I promise, he's a good man. I miss you."

"I miss you, too. I hope this is all over soon." Ricky muttered. I could hear the hope slipping in his voice.

I rested my arms over the wheel as I stared up at a key necklace hanging from the review mirror. His necklace. "It will be. I promise. Go get some sleep, Baby Doll. I love you."

"I love you too. Goodnight, Chris."

"Goodnight, Ricky." I hung up and dropped my phone in the cupholder.

My eyes stared out at the open road. This all felt endless. We thought we had been done and over with Jani. Then the fucker had to come back. I was just getting somewhere with Ricky, then that bastard shows up out of almost nowhere.

I saw a set of headlights hit the street from around the corner. A car parked behind mine, that I recognized as the investigator's. I stepped out of my own car, grabbing my phone, keys, and trench coat. I greeted her, then began to walk to the dead center of town. December said Jani dropped Shiloh off at town square. I hope for his sake he didn't lie.

The center of town was a memorial statue. Under it, benches. Considering it was late August now, fall was just beginning, and there were leaves everywhere. They crunched under my boots as we walked.

"Ricky called me just before you came here. He said December came to where he was staying, but was told to leave and was unaware that he was there." I told detective Benson as we walked.

She scoffed. "Keeping tabs. Where is he?"

"Ricky? He's with a very good friend of ours, just down the street from one of my bandmates' store. It's on Kingston road." I explained.

"That's a far way for December to go at this time of night. Jani wants Ricky much more than I thought." She responded.

"You have nooo idea." I muttered.

We came upon the statue in the middle of town. I began to walk around it, examining the benches on each side. Finally, on the forth side, I saw Shiloh's frail little body, unconscious. I quickly knelt down and pulled off my coat, draping it over him. He was barely wearing anything, just jeans, a thin t-shirt, and converse.

The detective shined her light on his face. His skin was ashy and his lips were turning blue. I heard her get on her phone and call for a paramedic. While he waited, I tried to wake Shiloh.

"Shi!" I said as loud as I could without being a disturbance to nearby apartments. "Shiloh! Shiloh, c'mon! Wake up!" I grabbed onto his ice cold hand. "C'mon, Shiloh. Hear my voice, wake up, Sweetie. We need you. Bella needs you, Devin needs you. Wake up, Shiloh!" Saying Devin's name did it. I heard him groan, mumbling what I think was my name. "I'm here. We're going to get you help. I'll call Devin once the paramedics arrive. Shh, stay with me, Shi."

~~~
Devin met us at the hospital. He brought Bella with him, considering he couldn't get a babysitter this late at night. I've never really seen Devin scared, until Shiloh went missing. Then I saw a side to him that honestly shocked me. He was so tender, so... bent out of shape.
The nurse told us Shiloh still had some of the date rape drug in his system, which would make him a little incoherent. Because of that, she told the police to interview him in the morning, but we could still see him. Devin headed towards Shiloh's room the second the nurse told us that.
The room was very dark. I can understand the drugs in his system must be a massive shock to his body and he must not be doing well. I'm sure his head was pounding.
"Chris, can you hold the baby?" Devin asked as we stood in the doorway.
I nodded and took her from his arms. Then I went over to a chair in the room and sat down with Bella as Devin went to Shiloh's bedside.
"Oh Angel." He whispered. "I'm so sorry. This is all my fault. I should've protected you. I'm sorry, I love you."
"Dev," Shiloh responded weakly. "I love you, too. It's not your fault."
"You're too weak to argue. Shh, just hear my voice. You are so beautiful, you know that?" Devin tenderly spoke, leaning over and kissing Shiloh.
