Chapter 4: The Mice in Council, Part III (Daily Life)

----

*DING DONG BING BONG*

Reiji: This again?

I had gone to sleep knowing that we most likely condemned Iori to a slow death by waiting for him to fall asleep in an area considered out-of-bounds, and yet the morning announcement contained absolutely zero mention of what had happened to him.

But the more concerning factor was Ukyo, who had to amputate his own arm because of that prick. I was uncertain as if to whether Monokuma could, or would even, save his live.

I got my answer when I left my room to see Chie, the little girl with her frog bag, tapping my shoulder.

Chie: Reiji! Reiji!

Reiji: Yeah?

Chie: Come to the infirmary ASAP, croak! Kero-chan has nice things to say, ribbit!

Reiji: Right, then...?

With that, I followed her, past a fire extinguisher mounted on the side, as she merrily skipped around without a care in the world, almost as if she was blissfully unaware that she was stuck in a Killing Game in which she would most likely be either killed or have to kill. When we got to the infirmary, guess who was there?

Monokuma: Greetings! You must be wondering about Ukyo, huh?

Reiji: Yeah. What's up with home now?

Monokuma: He's dead!

Chie: Umm...

Monokuma: Just kidding! After all, this is a world where robots that act exactly like how humans do exist, and I am required to offer aid to anybody in the infirmary. (cough cough) Iori. (cough cough)

Reiji: What did you do with Ukyo?

Monokuma: Oh, so you are worried about some guy who you barely know! Here he is!

The door swung open, and he staggered forward, a little disheveled but mostly none the worse for wear. Obviously, the most glaring difference was that where there was once a surgical glove, now was a black and white prosthetic hand. He was repeatedly clenching and unclenching his fist, as if trying to get used to it.

Monokuma: Say hello to your new cyborg!

Ukyo: I would not call myself a cyborg, thank you very much.

Chie: Ukyo! Thank goodness you're alright, ribbit!

Ukyo: Well, guess sooner or later I will have to resume my duties. Which is a big problem considering that I am no longer fully flesh and bone...

Reiji: But at least you're alive.

Ukyo: Listen. I do not feel as though I have anything left to lose anymore. Maybe I should ask that man for advice on what to do next.

Who did he mean? Sasuke? Tetsuo? Monokuma? If he didn't mean me, then... none of the answers were good.

(Free Time Event #15: Kira Aozaki)

I excused myself from both Ukyo and Chie, and sought out some comfort in the closest we had to a leader. She was hanging out in one of the classrooms - I legitimately could not remember which floor it was exactly, but I have a hunch it was the second, and she seemed to be waiting for someone to approach her for a chat.

Kira: Heya, Reiji! You have anything to say?

Reiji: Yeah, I'm questioning why you're still sane in these circumstances.
