Monokuma: Two bodies have been discovered! After a certain amount of time has passed, which you may use however you like, the Class Trial will begin!
Those words were still echoing in my head. We were all staring at Mayu's body, but we couldn't forget that Shouko died too. The rest of the group could only infer it by her absence - but me and Asuka had the "honour" of seeing her corpse up close and personal.
And Nanae... she wasn't taking it well. She wasn't taking it well at all.
Nanae: MAYU! PLEASE... STAY WITH... ME! OPEN YOUR EYES!
No response. Mayu was dead, after all.
Tetsuo: Nanae. She's gone.
Nanae: (sobbing) Gone...?
Asuka: Enough is enough. I see you have tried your best, but it's too late now.
Nanae: Mayu? Don't tell me-
Sasuke: Of course she can't tell you! She's dead!
Monokuma: Exactly! And you know what to do, everyone! After all, you've had more than enough practise!
Ukyo: And so is Shouko!
Sasuke: How the hell do you know that?
Ukyo: The announcement mentioned two bodies, she's the only one of us absent... it adds up for me to come to my conclusion.
Sasuke: If that's what you say, you pretentious idiot.
Reiji: (Of course, I knew Shouko was dead. We saw the body together, after all. But I just kept my mouth shut to avoid making me look suspect.)
Iori: Quick question before you end communication.
Reiji: (Goddamn Iori. There was no way he didn't intend for Mayu to heed his "advice", and now...)
Iori: Remember when you said that "Additional school regulations may be added if necessary.", sir?
Monokuma: Yes... Go on.
Iori: You ever stopped to consider the scenario of a pair of murderers killing at around the same time? Who's gonna take the blame?
Monokuma: Well, I have, considering that it seemed to happen a couple of times past, but never got around to it. Just updating the e-Handbooks now, and... done! Check 'em out!
On cue, I whipped my e-Handbook out of my pocket and read the new rule, again added to the bottom of the list. It read:

Rule #12: If two murders by two different murderers occur, whoever murdered first will be considered the "blackened".
----
Iori smirked. Clearly he had banked on some aspect of Monokuma's explanation - most likely to evade punishment for his involvement. There was no doubt within me that he had a part to play in Mayu's death... but could he have been responsible for Shouko's as well?
Monokuma: Of course, if one of the murderers is dead, you'll have to find the living one, so there! Now then, bearwell everyone! Upupupu~
The intercom then signed off. And now we had a little problem: who would handle Mayu's case, and who would handle Shouko's? Naturally, it fell upon Kira to bring us together and allocate us all.
Kira: Okay! I know this is a stressful situation, especially now that we've lost two of our own, but we need to come up with some sort of plan!
Ukyo: I'll handle Shouko, when we find her body.
