4 days later it was time to bring Grayson home. I was extremely nervous because he still had to be on oxygen, for a little while longer, and his heart rate and oxygen level had to be checked every 2 hours. I was nervous because I didn't know if I could do it without any help. When I got to the hospital the nurse put me through a set of directions to check everything, and what was good and bad. Steven loaded up the 5 oxygen tanks in the back of the truck while I was helping getting him ready. I brought home the outfit that I wanted him to wear home, and tried it on. It was way too big for him. "Hold on." The nurse who has been working with Grayson since he was born said. She came back a minute later with a yellow bag. "Here, I knew that he was going home today, and I wanted to celebrate his success." She said. I hugged her. "Thank you so much. You didn't have too." I said smiling. She nodded. "I know, but it's not everyday a preemie is born, and gets to leave the hospital the next week. You have a miracle on your hands. Bless him." She smiled. I started to tear up. "That means a lot to me. Thank you." I said opening it. When I pulled out the onsie and matching outfit to match, I started to cry. It was a preemie outfit, and had the words 'mommy and daddy's miracle.' I hugged her again and got him dressed. It fit perfectly. "Don't worry, he will grow into the other outfit." She explained. I nodded. I took a picture of him. "Hey, would you mind if I take a picture of you and Grayson?" I asked her. She smiled. "I'd love that." She responded happily. I handed him to her and took the picture. She helped me put him in his carseat and change the setting too preemie. I wheeled the tank behind me as I carried his carseat. I hugged her again and thanked her for everything. She smiled. "See you." She said waving. I walked down and Steven and Addison met me halfway. "Babe." I said getting his attention. He looked at me. "We are leaving with our babies." I smiled. "I told you we'd leave with him." He stated. I nodded. Addison wanted to be picked up so Steven took the carseat from me. I had Addison in one hand and an oxygen tank in the other. "Gary!" She said squealing. I nodded. "Yes baby. We are going to bring Grayson home today!"I said excited. She let out a gasp and clapped her hands. "Home!" She said. I kissed her cheek. I put her in the truck and buckled her in. "Keep your arms in babe." I said reminding her. She nodded. Steven loaded everything into the truck and we drove home. When we got to our apartment my parents and my brothers were already there. I got out and Levi, Travis, and Bentley came running to me. They weren't able to come to see Grayson because of the flu epidemic. "Sissy! Can we see?" They asked. I nodded. Steven got Addison out and she ran to my brother. I got Grayson from the base of the car seat and I pulled out the tank. I set him on the ground and told them to be careful. They all got down and smiled. Grayson was awake and they were trying to make him laugh. I chuckled. "He won't be smiling for a while. He's still too little." I explained. Steven offered to carry him in and I let him. I followed behind with the big oxygen tank. I hugged my parents and Lucas and we all went inside. I let my parents hold him while I relaxed. Levi came to sit with me in my lap, and Travis in Steven's. Bentley was in the playroom with Addison playing blocks. "Sissy?" Levi asked me. I nodded. "Do you still love me?" He asked. I hugged him. "Of course I do. What makes you think I don't?" I asked. "You moved away and you never come back." He said. I got sad. I was really busy with Grayson lately, and I had no time for anything but that. I looked at Steven whose eyes got big. "Levi James. I would never not love you. You are the sweetest little brother a girl could ask for. I love you, Travis, Lucas, and Bentley all the same. Never could I not love any of you." I explained. He hugged me. "Can you move back home?" He asked. I shook my head. "I can't, I have my own little family I live with now. But you can come over anytime. Just let mommy know, and you can come over whenever you want. Alright?" I explained. He nodded. "Okay." He said content. Everyone stayed for a little while and decided to leave. Grayson was now sleeping so I decided to try to check his levels while he slept. His oxygen level was 90% and his heart rate was 100 bpm. Everything was almost normal. I relaxed. I put him in his bouncer and let him sleep. "Addie!" I called from the bottom of the stairs. She came to the top and smiled. "You want to watch a movie? Or go outside? Or we cna have a snack!" I offered. She smiled. "Movie and a nack!" She said giggling. I let her come down the stairs and she grabbed my hand and walked me to the kitchen. "Gummie mommy?" She asked. I nodded. I grabbed her a package of gummies and I filled her sippy cup with white grape juice. I put on a movie for her and she crawled in Steven's lap. He made room for her and put a blanket to keep her toes warm. "Addie where are your socks?" He asked. She shrugged. "Daddy car." She said pointing to the door. He laughed. I sat at the end of the couch and pulled out my phone. I had a couple texts from everyone.
Tristen-Hey, I heard you had the baby? Everything alright? You were super early :/
Me- I'm fine. The baby's fine. He came home today. His name is Grayson James. He is on oxygen until his lungs fully develop, and he will be alright.
Tristen- Yikes. I'd love to meet him.
Me- Come on over! We aren't doing anything.
Tristen- Alright be there soon.
I let steven know what was going on and he smiled. "Alrighty." He said. I went back to my phone answered some of the other texts I got.
Lucas- Do you think that you can watch Olivia for me and Lucy tomorrow?
Me- Sure, at my house tho. What time?
Lucas- around 5 ish. We are going to dinner.
Me- Okay. See you then.
I put down my phone when Tristen walked in. "Hey man." He said shaking Steven's hand. Addison sprung up and jumped into his arms. Ever since Steven and I had an argument about Tristen months ago, we all sat down together and talked about what we were really fighting over. And now Steven and Tristen are very good friends, and we hang out all the time together. Tristen has become my best friend. He is a great guy with an awesome girl friend named Leslie. Tristen is the type of friend that doesn't sugar coat anything for me. He tells me how it is, even if it hurts because he knows that lying is not any better. I got up and hugged him and got Grayson. He sat down. "He is so little!" He said smiling. I nodded. "I know. I was terrified to hold him when he wasn't all swaddled up." I explained to him. "Am I going to hurt him?" He asked nervous. I shook my head. "No, he's not in any pain." I assured. He held him for what seemed like an hour before there was a knock on the door. I got up and asnwered it. It was my aunt Jenna. She was crying. "What's wrong Aunt Jenna?" I asked inviting her in. "Your Uncle Derek and I, well we had a fight and I left. I didn't know where else to go. I'm sorry." She said crying. I hugged her. "Don't be sorry. Come in and have a seat make yourself at home." I said. She set down her stuff by the front door and Steven got up to hug her too. They hugged for almsot 2 minutes why she cried. I exchanged a look with Tristen. He frowned. Steven let go, and I asked her to come upstairs. "Mommy. up?" Addison asked. I nodded. I followed Aunt Jenna up the stairs with Addison in hand. I was sad for her. She was very upset. I hope she was going to be alright.
