"Amelia. How are you feeling?" The doctor asked me as he walked in the office. I was going for my 5 week check up after my surgery. I nodded. "Much better. I'm not sore anymore. And I am trying really hard to take it easy, but now that I'm feeling better it's kind of hard." I explained. She laughed. "I'm clearing you to go back to part time work, and you still need to be careful lifting Addison, or anything heavy. But other than that, you are good to go my dear." She said with a pitch. I smiled. Today was January 29th, the day that Steven and I were supposed to be returning from our honeymoon in Virgin Islands. "How is Grayson?" She asked breaking me from my own thoughts. I smiled. "Still a little underweight, but everything is functioning at 100%. He's a miracle." I smiled at him who was in his car seat on the ground. He was starting to smile, and babble. "That's great to hear. Well, I want to see you back in 4 weeks for a final consultation." She explained. I nodded. I picked Grayson up, and I walked out to the receptionist to make another appointment. "February 29th at 1 pm." She said busy with every thing at the moment. I nodded and took the card from her. I walked out to the car, and put the baby in the base of the car seat. I got into the passenger seat and we drove home. "Thanks for driving me." I said to Tristen once he pulled into the driveway. He nodded. "Anytime Em. What you gonna do for your birthday?" He asked. I shrugged. "Probably sit around and drink with some friends. Want to come over?" I asked. He nodded. "Wouldn't miss it. See you tomorrow." He reminded me. I had forgot that my birthday was tomorrow. I nodded. I grabbed Grayson out of the car and put him into my car and started it. I had to take him to Steven for the week. He was taking the kids on vacation with his parents on a cruise. I was really nervous about them taking Grayson, but I decided to let him go. I drowned myself in my own thoughts, and I drove to Steven's parents. I got a his suit case and a side bag out and grabbed Grayson as well. Steven met me half way to carry things. I carried the baby inside, and went to say goodbye to Addison. "Bye sweetie. Make sure daddy sends me pictures of you and Grayson. I love you so much." I said hugging her. She nodded. "Love you too mommy." She said hugging me. I kissed Grayson and I walked out not saying anything but goodbye to Steven. I was trying to fully get over the fact that we weren't together anymore. But this was the hardest goodbye to fathom. I got in my car, and I drove home. I was going to be without the kids for a week. And I didn't know what to do with myself. I went in the house and plopped on the couch to catch a break. "Wanna know what you need?" Lucas asked popping open a Corona for me. I gladly took it and I sipped it generously. I sat up and I texted Tristen.
Me- I've got limes. Bring the Corona and we will have a pre- party celebration.
Tristen- Be there soon. :)
I set my phone down, and I turned on some music. "So, how are you and Octive?" I asked Lucas. He nodded. "We are doing really well. And I'm very happy." He said. "She is upstairs using your shower. Hope you don't mind." He added. I laughed. "Not at all. Tristen is coming over for some beers, and food. You and Octive can join us." I said to him. He nodded. "I'll talk to her." He stated. I walked into the kitchen and sat at the table with my parents. "What are you guys doing tonight?" I asked. "We are going to dinner at Shorty's and then we are going to play cards with Aunt Jenna and Uncle Dereck." Mom explained. I nodded. "Sounds like fun. Tristen, Octive, Lucas and I are going to get pizza and drink some beer. Pre birthday fun." I Explained. Mom smiled. "That's good. You need a break from the kids, and everyday hassle sometime." She said. I nodded. I finished my beer and I put the bottle on the counter and cracked open another.
About an hour later, Tristen showed up with both the pizza and the beer. Lucas helped him carry the food into the kitchen and I looked at Octive. "Come on, lets go get some pizza." I said patting her knee. I got a plate and handed her one also. I grabbed a slice, knowing that I probably wouldn't even finish this one and I sat in between Lucas and Tristen. I picked at my pizza. I didn't have much of an appitite but I still ate to appease everyone. "Hey, Em. I have a surprise for you." Tristen said getting up. I smiled but I looked at him confused. He ran outside and came back in with his guitar. I smiled wide and I knew instatnly what he was going to do. "I learned it. And I told myself that I was going to wait until tomorrow. But I think I am ready now." He said sitting in the chair. He took out his guitar, and Lucas moved the table so it wasn't in the way of his view. Octive came and sat on the other side of me and I squeezed her hand once she grabbed my other hand. "Ready?" He asked picking at the strings. I nodded. "Always." I smiled. He started to pick the string and started to sing a few seconds later,
