It was now May, and the earth was defrosting and all the snow was gone. The kids were getting big, and I was really sad that they weren't itty bitty anymore. Today I was taking the kids to the playground for the first time since last fall. Addison liked the playground because it gave her the chance to run around and be a kid. Unfortunately she is growing up way too fast, kind of like I did. And she thinks that she has too because Steven and I aren't together. Tristen and I are not together either. We are perfectly content with being really good friends. He has a girl friend named Jennie, and she is super adorable and sweet. As for me, I'm taking a break from men, to focus on what's really important. My kids. I'm working full time at the my favorite childhood bakery doing baking and decorating. I'm starting to feel a lot better, and accepting myself. Steven had a new girlfriend her name is Taylor. Yes, the Taylor that was my friend. I am not sure I feel really great about it, but I have moved on. We hang out occasionally, when we have to get the kids together for holiday's such as Easter. But other than that we keep our distance. "Mommy. Can we get some ice cream?" Addison asked me. I nodded. "Sure baby. We can get some ice cream when we are done." I agreed. She nodded. I got the kids into the car and Lucas and Octive followed behind. Livy was with her actual grandparents for the week. Lucas lets her stay in contact with her grandparents and her aunt. But not Lucy. Once we got there I got out and Addison helped herself out and ran immediately too the playground. "I got her!" Lucas said running to get her. I laughed. I grabbed Grayson who was sleeping and put him in his stroller. He wasn't too interested in the playground just yet, and he wasn't mobile yet. Octive helped me lift him over the steps and we went to go get a seat at the empty bench by the swings. Once I sat down, I checked my phone.
Tristen- Hey, Addison left her minion over here, I brought it back and left it in your car.
Me- Thank you. Appreciate it.:)
I set my phone down and noticed that Grayson was awake. I took him out and I played with him. I took him over to the swing and set him in there. I swung him lightly and he laughed. Once we were done at the playground we went and got ice cream. Addison got bubble gum, I got butter pecan, and I got Grayson a small vanilla to go at it. We ate our ice cream and Addison talked about her swimming lessons. Once we were done Steven pulled in to pick up the kids. It was his weekend and he was taking them to Great Wolf Lodge. I hugged the kids and I left. Tonight, Lucas, Octive and I were going out, and I was going to dance! I went home and I got ready, I put on tight pair of capris and a floral tank top with gladiator sandals. I was really excited to get out of the house and enjoy myself. Once I did my hair and makeup I walked down stairs to my brother who was in a nice pair of jeans and a stripped long sleeve button up shirt. And Octive was wearing a dress that made her curves look awesome. I felt under dressed. But it didn't matter. "Come on! Lets go! I wanna dance!" I said letting out a happy squeal. Lucas was driving because I knew that I was going to have a few drinks tonight. When we got there, I paid my cover and I opened up a tab for the three of us. I ordered a Rum and Coke. I took my drink out to the dance floor and I found the cutest lone cowboy I could and I asked him to dance. "I'm about to ask you to dance, but hold on." I said taking a drink and setting it at the table with Lucas. "Needed a little bit of liquid courage. Alright, would you like to dance with me?" I asked the green eyed boy. He nodded and laughed. "Sure. You know how to line?" He asked smiling at me. I laughed. "I've been line dancing since I've been 4 years old. Come on!" I said grabbing his hand and joining in on the line of people. We danced a couple of group dances and then I was done. "What's your name?" He asked me sitting down. "I'm Amelia. But I prefer Em. And this is my brother Lucas and his girlfriend, and my best friend Octive." I smiled introducing them. He nodded. "Nice to meet ya'll. I'm Luther." He said with a crooked smile. I blushed. He was really attractive, and had some kind of accent. A slower song came on, and I swayed to it for a couple seconds and then he asked, "would you come and dance with me pretty lady?" He smiled in aticipation. I nodded and looked a Lucas who winked at me. He pulled me softly and gently out to the dance floor and he pulled me in close to him. I didn't mind being so close to him, because he smelled like Old Spice Original. Attractive! He walked me around the dance floor as the song "Don't Take the Girl" By Tim McGraw played and filled the room. I couldn't help but feel safe and secure with him. I barely knew him, and I felt safe, I felt like the only girl in the room in his arms. When the song was over I hugged him and thanked him for the dance. He took off his hat and bent over bowing. "My pleasure." He said in a twangy, but really attractive accent. I grabbed my drink, and I followed him outside. He smokes. Something I'm not really into, but I wouldn't judge him. "How old are you?" I asked taking a sip of my drink. "24." He said putting out his cigarette noticing I made a face. "Sorry darlin'. I don't usually smoke. Just jitters and nerves." He said. I laughed. "Why are you nervous. You're gorgeous." I asked then covering my mouth and blushing. He laughed. "Why thank you. I don't know, a pretty lady like you make me a little intimidated. How old are you?" He explained. I got butterflies. "You don't have to be nervous around me. I'm 19." I nodded. He smiled. "So no boyfriend, I take it?" He checked. "No, but I do have kids. Two to be exact." I laughed and held up two fingers. "I love kids. No dad?" He asked kind of personal. I sighed. "Their father and I were together since 7th grade in high school. But we just kind of drifted apart." I explained. He nodded. "I get that. I'm sorry darlin.' How old are your kids?" He asked changing the subject. "Addison is two, and Grayson is 6 months. Still babies." I said. He cooed. "Awe. How sweet. Betcha yous a great momma." He smiled. I laughed. "I try to be." I blushed. This guy was totally winning over my heart. "This may be a shot in the dark, but would ya want to go out sometime?" He asked. I nodded. "Absolutely. Sounds great." I replied excited but not too excited. I grabbed my phone so we could exchange numbers and we went back inside. Lucas was getting tired so we left around midnight. When we got in the car, Lucas asked me what happened between Luther and I. I smiled. "We exchanged numbers. We are going to go out some time." I explained. He looked in the rear view mirror and smiled. "It's time you know that right?" He asked. I nodded. He was talking about me moving on and not being involved with Tristen or Steven. It was time for someone new. I was excited for a fresh start with someone. I didn't want to text or call him first, so I went to bed for the night.
