I had just finished cleaning the house when there was a knock on the door. It was Steven. I opened it up and invited him in. "Hey Em." He started. I smiled. "Hey. The kids are still sleeping. Well, Grayson is awake, but Addison isn't." I explained. It was the weekend again, and I was going to miss the kids. I have been working all week, and I had wished that I could have them this weekend. But I didn't want too take away his time with the kids. "Alright. I will go get her up." He said slipping off his shoes and running up the stairs. Once he got the kids ready I hugged them, and helped Steven bring them out to the truck. Once he pulled out of the driveway, I sat on the swing on the porch and texted Luther.

Me- Hey there.

Luther- Whatcha doing tonight?

Me- I'm doing nothing that I know of. Why?

Luther- I want you to come with me to a picnic.

Me- oh? Sounds fun!

Luther- More like a party. But with a bunch of my friends. But I want you ta be there.

Me- wouldn't miss it. Pick me up?

Luther- Sure thang darlin.' See ya at 6.

I set my phone down and I walked into the kitchen to my mom. "I think Luther just asked me on a unofficial date tonight!" I said excited. She laughed. "I love to see that smile. That's the smile of pure happiness." She explained. I blushed. Luther was such a sweet guy, and we talk almost all the time. "Thanks ma. I'm really happy." I explained. "You guys dating?" She asked. "No, I don't want to rush into anything." I nodded. "Good. That's awesome." She said getting up. I decided that I was going to go shopping for an outfit tonight. I went by myself, because it would be faster any ways. I went to forever 21 and bought a new pair of jeans, and a long sleeve shirt with a belt and pair of sandals. I bought my stuff, and then I stopped to buy a a six pack of beer, just in case. When I got home, I noticed that I was running late. I quickly got ready, braided my hair and put a little makeup on. I grabbed my purse and a sweater and walked out the door too see Luther was waiting in a 1989 Ford pickup. I just about melted. I got in and he greeted me with a smile. "Ready to go?" He asked starting to back out. I nodded. Once we got there, we arrived to St Lawrence State Park and beach. Luther helped me out of the truck and he walked awkwardly next to me over to his friends. "Em, this is Franklin my brother, and this is Alise. His fiance." He introduced me. I nodded and shook both of their hands. He introduced me to a whole group of people who I have already forgotten their names. We sat around a fire sharing stories about people's home towns and childhood's. I sat quietly and listened to everyone occasionally looking over at Luther. "Hey you. Want to take a walk?" He whispered getting close to me. I nodded. I grabbed m sweater and slipped it on. He grabbed a beer for me and opened. We started to walk and he grabbed my hand. I blushed and looked at the ground. We stopped at the end of the private beach and sat on the rocks. "It's so peaceful down here." I said softly. I listened to the waves hit the shore, and I got chills. He smiled. "I know. It's so nice and quiet. I come down here often to get away from life." He said looking down. I knew that was something was wrong, but I didn't want to push. "Are you alright?" I asked finally gumping up the courage. He nodded. "Yes darlin.' I just can't stop thinking about that dance we shared two weeks ago." He smiled looking up at me. My heart started to melt, and I got butterflies again. "Let's do it again." I said getting up. He chuckled. "Here?" He asked. I nodded. I pulled my phone out and I went to YouTube and put the song that we danced too last week. I made him stand up and he had a sarcastic smirk on his face. The moon hit his face just enough to see his bright green eyes and brown worn out base ball cap. He pulled me in close, but this time, closer than last time. I entwined my hands in his, right hand and my right hand on his back, and rested my head on his shoulder. We danced the whole song and then some. I let go of his hand and I wrapped my hands around his torso and he swayed me back and forth again. "I don't know, if I should ask you this, but can I kiss you?" He asked putting his hand under my chin. I smiled. "You don't have to ask." I smiled biting my lip. I stepped on my tip-toes to reach him. He kissed me softly, and like no other boy has ever kissed me. It was a different kind of kiss, it wasn't sexual, it was a kiss that was full of love. I smiled, when we stopped. He kissed my lips gently again and I giggled. I hugged him again, and he just held me tight. I didn't want to let him go, but I did. "Want to get out of here and go get something ta eat dear?" He asked. I nodded. I probably should've eaten before I started to drink. I wasn't drunk, but it wasn't agreeing with my empty stomach. He grabbed my hand and helped me into the truck. "Where is the best place to go around here?" He asked. I shrugged. "My favorite is Shorty's. Are you not from around here?" I asked. "We will go there then. And naw ma'am. I'm from Georgia. Recently moved here because my brother wanted to join the military." He explained. I nodded. We got to Shorty's and he wanted to sit over by the window. "So, what's there to do in this one horse town?" He asked in reference to Watertown. I giggled. "Not much of anything, unless you like to shop. Or see a movie." I laughed. He rolled his eyes. "That's a whole lot of fun." He laughed. I nodded. "I'm used to it. I've lived here my whole life." I explained. We got our food and we ate and talked. I thanked him for the meal and he picked me up and carried me to his truck. I let out a girly squeal once he threw me over his shoulder. I wasn't used to having this much fun. He opened the door for me and he sat me on the seat. I looked at him, and I kissed him again. I instantly felt goosebumps run all over my body and I shivered. He slipped off his Flannel jacket and set it on my legs. "Thanks." I blushed. He nodded and shut the door. When he drove me home, I didn't want to get out. "Can I walk ya to the door?" He asked. I giggled. "Absolutely." I smiled. I couldn't believe it. Someone that actually wanted to be with me till the last possible second felt so different. He grabbed my hand once we got to the door, and I he kissed it. I was falling hard for this kid. And fast. "Goodnight beautiful." He said hugging me. I hugged him back, and lingered hugging him for a while. I opened the door and I walked in and waved goodbye. I shut the door and watched him walked to his truck. I couldn't believe it. I was smiling ear to ear. And I couldn't stop.
