Today was the day that Steven was getting out of the hospital and is stable enough to come home. Luther and I offered to go and get him with the kids. Since, Addison misses him so much. I got in the SUV and went to pick up Luther. We've been dating 4 months tomorrow. And I have never been so happy than I am right now. I had great friends, a wonderful boyfriend, great kids and amazing family. He got in the car, and he kissed my cheek and said hello to the kids. Addison talked to him about her day care drama, and I giggled. When we got to the hospital Steven was at, I walked in alone, and signed him out. I waited for him come out into the lobby. When I saw him, he looked so great. He gained some weight, so he didn't look so sick, he kept his hair trimmed short and he just looked so happy. He came up too me, and smile. I hugged him tight. "Hey there. How you feeling?" I asked. He nodded. "So much better. No more negative feelings." He exclaimed. I smiled. I wrapped my arm around him and walked out side. Luther had the kids outside down at the bottom of the steps and Addison jumped up and down when she saw Steven. Steven let go of me and ran down the steps and picked her up and embraced her into a long tight hug. "Daddy!! Are you feeling better?" She asked wiping her hair out of her face with her palm. He nodded. "Much better Angel face. Daddy missed you so much. How's everything?" He asked. She nodded. "It's so good!" She said excited. He hugged her again and he held her but shook Luther's hand. "Thanks for taking care of them while I was away. I appreciate it." He said to him. Luther nodded. "Your kids are great." He smiled. He put Addison down and grabbed Grayson from Luther. Addison came to me to be picked up and I picked her up and hugged her. "You guys can go with daddy this weekend if you want." I said to them and Steven. He nodded. "Absolutely. We are going to go see a movie, and have a sleepover with Cousin Tanya." He explained to Addison. She clapped. We all got into the SUV and I drove home. When I dropped Steven and the kids off at his apartment, I felt confident that Steven was going to be alright.
We drove back to my house and we got ready for the dinner at the barn with my family tonight. My brother had something up his sleeve, and I had no idea what it was. I had to quickly shower and get ready. I walked out of the shower in my towel and Luther whistled at me. "Funny." I joked with him. I went into my closet and I grabbed my floral sundress that matched the color tie that Luther was wearing. I slipped on my wedged heels, and walked into the bathroom to straighten my hair and put on some makeup. "Come on beautiful. We are going to be late." Luther said knocking on the door of the bathroom. Just as he said that I opened the door, and I was ready. He looked at me, and he smiled. "You look stunning." He looked me up and down. I kissed his cheek and nodded. We walked down stairs and I waited for Octive to finish her makeup. We were meeting Lucas there. I got into the SUV and I drove us there. When we got to the barn, there was a red carpet leading from the grass, to the door of the barn. I smiled. Whatever he was doing, he was going all out. My parents were here already so we walked in and the whole place was full of family and friends. I looked at Luther surprised and Octive walked over to Lucas when she saw him. We found our table with our names on it. We were sitting with my mom and dad, and some of my cousins from my mom's side of the family. Luther and I sat down and waited for further instruction. "I think I might know what's going on here." My mom said looking at Luther, and then looking back at me. I shrugged. About 15 minutes later Lucas stood up on the stage that was made out of wooden pallets and asked for everyone's attention. "I need my beautiful girlfriend Octive to come up here please." He said pointing to her a few tables away. I smiled. When she got up there, she looked confused. There was a DJ table right next to the stage, and he started playing the song, 'Marry me.' By Train. And he got down on one knee in front of everyone and asked Octive, "Will you Marry me?" She looked at him and put her hands over her face and started to cry. I smiled. She nodded because she was to excited to talk. He slipped a ring on her finger and stood up to hug her. We all clapped. And Luther looked at me and smiled. I scrunched my nose at him and he chuckled. "Now, I think that there is someone else here that needs to say something. Where is he?" Lucas asked looking back here. Luther stood up and I looked at him confused. He walked up to the stage and hugged Lucas. "Congraulations Lucas and Octive. Wishin' ya nothing but happiness." He started. I looked over at my mom and she smiled My mom and dad knew what was going on this whole time. I was so confused. "Em. Can ya come up here love?" He asked me. I blushed with embarrassment. I don't like big crowds, and being in front of people made my anxiety disorder worse. I put on smile, and the DJ started playing our song. I finally put on a real smile, when he grabbed my hand, a sign that everything is alright, and he was going to take me into his arms. "I know, that you all know what's going on, besides Em, and Octive. Thank you so much for being here tonight. I met this girl in a bar actually. Crazy right? Then we got to talking, and everything she says, made my heart fall for her each time. I love the way she scrunches her nose when she is being silly, I love the way she is excited to see me everytime I pull into her driveway. I love her old soul, and how she is a great mom to her kids. These past four months have been the greatest. I feel like I have known you for 6 years, rather than 4 months. So, I talked to your dad the other day, and asked him if it would be alright if you could marry me." He said in a speech, getting down on his knees. I looked at him surprised. Was I ready to go all in? I loved him, and he loved me, and we had a great realtionship. Of course I wanted to marry him. I nodded and started to cry just like Octive did. My brother was taking pictures. "I had your brother record this video the other day. Just in case you had your doubts." He explained getting up and kissing my forehead. It was a video of everyone in my family telling me that I should go for it.
(These are what the family said about her in the video.)
Mom- I see a huge difference in Amelia. She has a pep in her step, and she never stops talking about him. I think that she has finally found someone that respects her completely and is willing to make this a forever things. Go for it baby girl. Mommy is so proud of you!
Dad- I think that this time, it's the real deal. We've had our up and downs with relationships, but this time... She's found the one. Luther is a great guy. He loves you, and he loves Addison and Grayson like they were his own. I'm so proud of you Pip. Go for it! Love you!
Lucas- I don't need to explain anything. Luther is the one Pip. Please say yes!! GO for it!! I love you!
Addison- Mommy, I think that you should marry Luther. He's funny and he likes Mickey mouse, and makes the best chicken! I love you!
This one really surprised me, one I wasn't expecting this one.
Steven- Em, Luther is a great guy. Any man that can fill in as a father for my kids in my deepest darkest times, is a great guy in my book. You deserve to be put up on a pedestal, and that's what Luther does for you. He does nothing but shower you and the kdis with love. Go for it Em. You deserve this. Love you!
By the end of the video I was crying, and Luther slipped a ring onto my finger. "It was my momma's. She wanted me to give this to the only girl that I truly love. And I love ya with all my heart." He said hugging me and picking me up. I wiped the tears from my eyes, and ran to Lucas and slapped his arm. "You're an ass. Keeping this a secret. Congrats you." I said joking with him. He hugged me tight and for a long while. I loved my brother, we were growing up and I was so proud of him for being a father to a little girl who loved him dearly. "I love you pip." He said finally. I nodded on his shoulder. I love you too Lou. I have a best friend to go squeal with." I said letting him go. He chuckled and I ran to Octive and hugged her tight. "Our dream is coming true." She said squealing. I paused. "Lucas must've found our book. That we made in middle school." I laughed. She went blank. "That's embarrassing. We must never speak of that book." She joked. I laughed and Lucas came over to take a picture of us, then of the four of us. I ran over to my mom and dad and hugged them both. "I love you!!" I said to them. They both said they loved me in harmony and I heard Addison's voice. I turned around and got excited. "Mommy! Did you say yes?" She asked running to me. I smiled. "Yes baby I did." I said picking her up. She smiled and clapped. "Yay!" She said hugging me. Luther came up to her and took her from me. "You like my chicken that much huh?" He asked tickling her. She giggled. I saw Steven come in with Grayson, and I went over to Steven to hug him. "Thank you for what you said in that video. It meant the world to me that I have your blessing." I said thankful. He nodded and I let go. "You deserve it." He smiled handing Grayson to me. I squeezed my boy, and he laughed. "No walking yet?" I asked. He shook his head. "None." He joked as if he had a tired arm. I laughed. I brought Grayson over to Luther, and he took him from me and shook Steven's hand. I knew that I had a good thing going and nothing was going to ruin this for me this time. I love Luther, and I know, deep in my heart that he's the one. I know that we may be rushing it, but I didn't care, as long as I had my sweet loving fiance and my kids, everything was going to be alright. "We have a savings account for both of the two older kids with money for the wedding." My dad explained. I nodded and I knew about it because of my previous situation with Steven. Steven told the kids to say good bye to me, and they left. I slipped off my heels, and I pulled Luther out on the dance floor and made him dance with me. The song Speakers by Sam Hunt was playing and it was one of my favorites. After that, the song Mean to Me by Brett Eldredge played and I saw my mom's eyes light up when my dad asked her to dance. It was my parent's wedding song, and they still sing it to each other after 20 years. I pointed at my parents and Luther smiled. "That's going to be us someday." He smiled. I nodded. "I hope so." I said resting my head on his chest. He danced me around for the rest of the song, and then kissed me. It was great feeling having someone that really just wants to be with you, because you are you, and not to get into your pants, or use you for money. "Thank you." I said to him. He chuckled. "For what?" He asked. "For being you." I smiled.
