Kai POV

I woke up in Elysium. Or, I thought so.

Kai: Elysium... But... That isn't right. I haven't made it there yet...

I looked around, and then I saw both of them. Standing by a lone tree on the hill behind me.

Kai: Pyra... Mythra...

I started moving closer to them. My steps quiet.

Mythra: It's quiet today, huh?

Pyra: Mm. That bell... I think it was the sound of our heart.

Pyra was looking out into the distance. Observing the seemingly endless land before her.

Kai: Wait. No... They can't be...

Mythra: Has it stopped?

Pyra looked off into the distance again, as if hoping she'd hear it.

Pyra: Mm... It's stopped.

Mythra: But... Something's still ringing out...

Pyra: Yes! So... ...So we have to go now!

I got closer, making my presence known.

Kai: Maybe spare a moment?

Pyra: Kai?

Mythra jumped with a quiet scream.

I smiled softly at her.

Kai: Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you.

Pyra: How long have you been here?

Kai: Since you two started talking, love. We have an odd sort of connection. You guys have been in my mind, and now I've been in yours.

Mythra: Who told you that you could just barge in here!?

Kai: Listen, I didn't ask to show up. But since I'm here... You guys... looked different back on the cliffs. Explain that to me.

Pyra: As you know... I was a construct created by Mythra, an alternate self to handle things after the war...

I nodded along, taking the information in.

Mythra: That form... it's more powerful. Like both of our minds merged together.

That gave me a little pause. Because earlier it was either Pyra showing through, or Mythra likes me too.

Kai: Not the time...

Pyra: I guess you could consider it... our True Form.

Kai: I guess that would make sense.

I was quiet a while longer.

Kai: Something about that form... I know you two, being the Aegis, are in a different league compared to all Blades. But something... Your true form is more than a power boost or a change in appearance or even the melding of your minds. It's... There's something very old and very powerful about it, surpassing even what you can do individually.

They looked at me somberly, and then the ground rumbled.

Kai: I think you're waking up. See you soon.

The world went white, and I gasped as my eyes opened. Mythra was still waking up, laying in Rex's lap.

Mythra: *waking moan*

Rex: Mythra...

Mythra: Rex...?

Rex: All in one piece?
