Chapter 32

Jelani

Avery finally left and I led Ty to the library luckily no one was there; I sat down on the couch and soon after Ty did too.

“What’s the deal with Zanara?” He asked.

“Damon is her mate and he proposed to her when they left and know they are engaged. Damon is a prince and they are in the prophecies. Zanara was to make a big choice between us and her family and the two worlds.”

“Aren’t you mad?”

“Yes but what can I do about it? Zanara is wrapped around his finger and I think that she is thinking of having kids with him already. How can I compete with that?”

“Dude you have known her since…well…forever.”

“She can’t stand leaving Damon and the thought that this world could be destroyed because she wanted to go home or to be with someone else.”

“Is Damon filling her mind with lies?”

“I don’t know; but the main reason she is agreeing to all of this is she is afraid of the curse she couldn’t handle the guilt with giving our children a curse because she decided that she loved me. And apparently the curse is real because Damon’s family had it.”

“She is slipping through your fingers like sand or water. But if you mix those together you get mud or something like that. The point is that it slips through your fingers slower and you have more time to catch it.”

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“Find people that survived the curse or find a loop hole and then show her that there could be an alternative to her choices with the prophecies. So if she chooses you then she could still save Damon’s kingdom.”

“So I give her a real option that has a chance.”

“Exactly; so you aren’t going to even look for your mate?”

I was praying he wouldn’t ask that question because I didn’t really know the answer but I had an idea in my head for a while on what I think the answer is, “I think I would’ve found her by now. I mean you already found your mate and you’re a few years younger than me.”

“That doesn’t mean anything; did you look in Russia?”

“That’s where she was?”

“Yea it’s not like I took a stop in China or South America because I felt like it. No I was worried about you guys so I came straight to you.”

“I didn’t look in Russia.” Ty gives me a look that is meant to say exactly! I roll my eyes and ask, “So what’s up with Avery?”

“She is now 10 and she’s my mate. I love her; there’s nothing more to say.”

“But there is something different about her. Like she knows your next move or the next thing you are going to say. It’s weird and she just gives me this look it’s like she doesn’t even like me. I’m sorry but it’s just weird and creepy; she isn’t human.”

“She’s half-human.”

“She isn’t human, Ty.”

Ty gets up, “You don’t even know her! How can you say that? When you meet your mate I will be fully supportive and I will try to make a good relationship with her.” He storms out of the room.

I am left there with my thoughts, “What if I don’t have a mate though?” I say aloud. But no one can answer because no one is there but if someone was they wouldn’t know the answer.
