At home
Granger saw Hetty was really enjoying a book she was reading.
'Must be a good book'. He said.
Hetty looked up from her book. 'Oh it is! It's about two people who fall in love through a series of events that were not exactly coincidences called Godwinks.'
'You women sure have a thing for romance books.'
'Oh, I forgot to mention that this is a true story.'
'What? Really?' He looked astonished.
Hetty then described what a Godwink was. (It's an impossible coincidence that might be an answer to a wish. And it's always a sign of hope.).
'So, you're telling me that two people, were brought together by, the universe or fate?' Granger asked.
'Yes. When you're meant to be, the universe tends to have ways of letting your soulmate know! It's really amazing.' Hetty said.
'Sounds ridiculous to me.'
'Why?' Hetty asked, puzzled.
'To me, knowing if you're meant to be with someone, takes really trying to get to know that person in a natural way, like dating, or hanging out with that person. And over time, if that person treats you well and wants to be with you, then you can ask that person to be with you forever.'
'Then, how did you know you were meant to be with me? Because I don't recall us ever dating, and I accidently tried to kill you once. Not to mention, when you 1st met my team, you tried to make it look like you rigged the boatshed to explode! So again, what's different about me?' Hetty asked.
'With you, it took a few years of warming up to your team. And remembering how I felt about you back when we were spies. It took a lot of time.' Granger answered.
'Well, to me. I think we were meant to be. We both thought we would never be with someone on a long term basis because of our jobs and what they make us do. Also, we both clearly care about each other.'
Silence.
'What's with the smile?' Hetty asked.
'Pretty good, coming from the woman who basically got 2 agents to be together.'
'When you're meant to be, you're meant to be. I merely just gave little nudges.'
'Chuckle. Whatever.'
'We're together now, and we're both happy now, that's important!' Hetty said.
'Yeah I love you too.'
'Men. So weird about romance.' Hetty thought, and chuckled.
