Granger came home, went up to the bedroom, and saw a small lump under 3 blankets.
'(chuckle), Okay H, I know you're under those blankets, So. Either you're really embarrassed about something, or you're really cold. Which is it?' Granger asked.
'Why don't you come over here and find out?' She replied, softly.
He walked over, and saw her head barely sticking out of the blankets.
'You okay?'
'I woke up feeling very cold with no appetite. How's your day been?' She sarcastically asked.
'I asked you if you were feeling okay this morning, and you said you were sleeping in a bit because you had somewhere to be later, so. That was a lie?'
'Yes. I didn't want you to know how I was really feeling because you'd insist on staying home to take care of me, and I didn't feel like being babysat. I can handle myself with slight fevers.'
'And how's that worked out?'
'Well, I got myself up and down the stairs, slept on the couch for a bit, handled myself perfectly well all day. But I will admit, it has been a bit lonely all day.' Hetty said.
'Well, Can I get you anything?'
'No. All good here. Feel free to sit down next to me if you want.'
He sat down next to her.
'Go ahead and ask the questions.'
'What questions?' Granger asked.
'Why did you lie about being sick? Why didn't you want me to stay home to take care of you? I know my own body, dear. You can't take a day off everytime I get a minor illness!' Hetty replied.
'I understand. Can't say that I haven't done what you've done at least once, but. What if you were sick with something serious?'
'I had my phone with me the whole time. (achoo!)'
'Bless you. I'm not upset with you, Just. It would be nice if you would tell me if you're sick before I come home to find you like this. You're not alone in this life anymore, you know.' Granger said.
'Old habits die hard. Kind of reminds me of our honeymoon.'
'In this case, you're me. The relunctent patient.'
'Ironic, isn't it? (yawn).'
'You should try and get some sleep. I'll be downstairs for awhile.' Granger said.
'See you later.'
Endnote: There'll be a 2nd part to this
