Don't deserve you

'Why didn't you let me in on the case?!' Hetty asked.

'Because the case was troublesome enough, and I didn't want to drag you into that mess. I was trying to protect you from scrutiny.' Granger responded.

'I don't always need protecting, Owen! I need trust and loyalty! You know what, make your own dinner tonight!'

'Fine, whatever!'

The next day

Hetty woke up well before Granger did. And when he didn't come down to eat, She got concerned.

'You awake?' She asked.

'Bleh. I think I ate something bad last night, because I feel really nauseated!' Granger responded.

'Oh dear! I'll go get you some medicine!'

Hetty stayed with him for the rest of the morning, then she had to go to work.

'Call me if you need anything, and I'll come right back!' Hetty said.

'I'll be fine, Just go. They need you.' Granger responded.

'Well, you appear to need me more.'

'I'm not completely helpless! I can handle a mini stomach issue by myself. Do you trust me?'

'Well, yes.'

'Then go to work!'

Hetty went to work, but she couldn't stop thinking about how he might be doing.

That evening

'Got home as fast as I can! How are you doing?' Hetty asked.

'Been resting all day, and I'm doing fine.' Granger responded.

'I was thinking about the case yesterday, did some digging, and. You might have been right to leave me out of it. If it went sideways, which it came close to, we both would've been in trouble, So, thank you.'

'Chuckle. Henrietta Linda Lange, admitting that it was good that she was left out of a case. What has this world come to?!'

'That's not my middle name. And (chuckles), that's kind of funny.' Hetty said.

'You have a nice smile, you know that?'

'I know, and you have a nice one as well.'

'Smirk. Sometimes I wonder if we really deserve each other.' Granger said.

'Well, I happen to think we do.'

'And I'm glad you do.'
