Birthday Time

'Hey sleepyhead, good morning.' Granger said.

'Mmm. Good morning, dear.' Hetty sleepily said.

'Happy birthday.' Then he gave her a box.

'What? You remembered?!'

'I know you don't like to celebrate your birthday, but since we're married, I thought it'd be rude to completely ignore it.' He said.

'Mmm. Thanks. Oh, it's a pretty bracelot. Thank you.'

At work

'Hey. Nice presents!' Granger said, noticing the bags on her desk.

'Yeah. One is from Mr. Beale and Miss Jones and the other is from Mr. Deeks and Miss Blye. Mr. Callen gave me his present personally.' Hetty responded.

'Are you having a good day?'

'Well, I've had to answer 2 phone calls from 2 angry people, So I'm feeling pretty good.' She replied, sarcastically.

'Oh. Anything I can do?'

'You can leave be for now while I work.'

'Oh. Okay.'

That evening

'When you come home, come into the yard, I have a surprise for you.' Granger texted.

'Sigh. I know he's trying to be a sweetie, but I don't like being reminded of how old I am!' Hetty thought.

She was quite surprised when she got home.

'Hey! I made dinner this time. And put up all these lights. You like it?' Granger asked.

'I, I love it! Is this why you went home early?' She responded.

'I actually put up some last night when you were asleep, I came home early to put up the rest and make all this food.

'You, you are amazing.'

'You just gonna stand there, or are we gonna eat?'

A few minutes later

'I'm sorry I haven't been really happy today. I know you're just trying to be nice, but I just don't like being reminded at how older I get every year.' Hetty said.

'I knew that. Just wanted to do something nice for you. I remember you telling me that the team threw you a surprise party years ago, and I wanted to do something sort of similar to it.' Granger responded.

Smiling, 'And I appreciate it all. Really!'

'Want to dance after we're done eating this?'

'I would love to.'
