'How is she?' Granger asked when he called Nell.
'Well, she's been resting her voice for a couple of hours, so she'll likely get it all back in a day or 2. But, she misses you, and she really wants you home.' Nell replied.
Granger had been called for a meeting in DC, and while he was there, he had gotten word that Hetty had lost her voice.
'I'll tell the politicians I need to leave and I'll get the next flight home.' He said.
But when he went to request to leave...
'No.' Congressman Thomas said.
'What do you mean No?' Granger asked.
'This meeting is important, and we need your input.'
'My wife is ill, and she wants me home! I need to be with her.'
'Does she have a nurse with her?' Thomas asked.
'She has a member of the team taking care of her, but that's not the point!' Granger replied. 'Why would you refuse to let a good husband go home to his wife?'
'I know who your wife is, Granger. And she is not my concern at all.'
Outraged, Granger went outside to call Nell to have her ask Hetty if she knew Thomas on a bad note.
'She says he had the nerve to say that the team isn't her family. That's how well she knows him.' Nell said.
'I know she mentioned a ride politician saying that, but I forgot it was him!' Granger mumbled.
Then then knew precisely what he had to do.
After barging in. 'Now listen up scumbag! Either you let me leave this useless meeting now so I can go home to care for my sick wife, or I will jump out of a window into a dumpster and take the next military flight home!' Granger shouted. 'And don't think for 1 minute that I won't do it!'
Thomas granted his request, but then shouted this sneer as Granger left:
'You're just like her. I hope you're proud of that!'
'Better her then you!' He retorted.
After flying all day, Granger was finally home.
'She's resting upstairs. Even like that almost all day.' Nell said.
'Good enough.' Then he went upstairs, and gently shook Hetty awake.
'You're here!' She whispered.
'Had to. Couldn't just leave you like this. How are you feeling?' He asked.
'Getting some of it back. But it could be another day.
'Well, just rest your voice, and I'll handle everything here.'
Her voice came back to her the next day.
'You did what?!' Hetty asked, really stunned when Granger told her how he got home.
'The man is such a jerk.' Granger replied.
'Well, (smiling), I guess we're more alike then we think.'
'Not always a bad thing.'
