'How long is this meeting supposed to last?' Granger asked, as Hetty packed up to go to DC.

'A couple of days, I think. I honestly have no idea why I'm being asked to attend this meeting. Like, since do politicians care about my ideas all of a sudden?' Hetty responded.

'Well, anyways. Will you try to call every day?'

'I'll try.'

Hetty did call the next night. But the next night, she sounded, different.

'Wait, another couple of days?' Granger asked.

'Yes. And they still want me here!' Hetty responded.

'Because you have such good ideas?'

'I doubt it. I've barely been able to give out any ideas. I've even asked someone about why I'm here, and he wouldn't say!'

'That's ridiculous!'

'I know. And, I'm pretty tired. I'll try to talk tomorrow.'

2 days later

Granger got a text from Hetty that evening. It said 'Coming home tonight'.

'Thank goodness.' He thought.

4 days. 4 days of being stuck in all day meetings, 4 days of being stuck in a hotel with a noisy neighbor that kept her up half the night. Her ideas were hardly discussed, or heard.

Hetty felt very discouraged, moody, and tired. Very tired.

Granger thought he'd wake up next to Hetty the next morning. But she wasn't on her side of the bed the next morning.

He went downstairs and saw her asleep on the couch.

Gently shaking her awake, 'Good morning'.

'Mmm. Morning.' Hetty sleepily responded.

'Too tired to come to bed?'

'Yeah. I was so tired, I came in and just decided to crash here.'

'How was everything?' He asked.

'It was horrible! I barely got a chance to talk all 4 days, and when I did, my ideas were hardly even considered! I had a noisy neighbor who kept me up half the night. I barely slept on the plane home. And, I'm so tired!' Hetty blubbered.

Silence.

'I don't think I want to go to work today.' Hetty said.

'That's okay. I understand. I'll let the team know you got in safely, and that you need an extra day to rest up. May I make you something to eat?' Granger responded.

'Sure.'

'Okay.'

On the plane home, someone asked Hetty what the best part of being married was. She didn't really answer because she was trying to sleep, but she now knew the answer:

Having someone to come home to, and understand you when you need extra time to rest.
