Chapter 44: The Party

I feel a rush of adrenaline after being announced as a new avenger, and also the official girlfriend of Captain America. Once everyone saw Steve and I holding hands that became the first question that was asked, which him and I were both happy to respond to.

I had to hide my laughter as Tony rolled his eyes at everyone fawning over Steve and I.

Once Steve and I make our exit leaving Tony and Pepper out there to close things, I stand for a moment stunned over what just happened.

"Well that was-", Steve begins.

"A lot", I finish as we both look at each other chuckling softly. "I've been out of the loop for a couple of things when it comes to the avengers, but does he do this with everyone?", I ask Steve.

He shakes his head, "Stark only does this type of stuff for himself, and now you I guess. Ever since you woke up he's been eager to do this".

I smile up at him, "Honestly, he really makes me feel like I have a father in my life again. I don't mean being in the public eye because that isn't really my thing, but having an older figure treat me like one of his own. It feels pretty great".

Steve wraps his arm around me and kisses my forehead, "I'm glad you're happy sweetheart. But that reminds me, I also have something for you later too".

I look up at him, "Stevie you didn't have to", I say shyly but also feeling excitement bubble in my chest.

His eyes twinkle in amusement as he looks down at me, "I wanted to because I love you".

We stare into each other's eyes for a moment, and the longer we stare the more everything else in the room disappears leaving us alone.

"I love you too", I reply softly as I reach up and bring his head down to meet mine in a kiss.

"Hey! Lovebirds! Come take shots with us!", Clint yells over to us from across the room.

"I guess it's time for shots", I mumble against his lips.

He smiles against mine giving me one last kiss before pulling away and taking my hand as we walk over.

"I guess I have to go find Thor for my shots", he sighs looking around.

"For your shots? Why Captain does this mean you're planning on having fun and getting drunk tonight?", I say in pretend shock.

"You make me sound like such a stick in the mud", he laughs, "I know how to have fun, and I'm certainly planning on having a lot of fun with you later", he says flirtatiously making my core flutter.

"Well I like the sound of that... Do you want to give me a hint of what's going to happen?", I ask raising an eyebrow in curiosity.

He pretends to think for a moment, "No. But I will give you a small taste in a minute".

My mouth waters at those words and more than anything I just want to pull him aside and get started. But I know I'll get to that blissful moment soon enough.

"Heyyy there they are!", Clint says loudly handing me a shot. As I take the glass I look around and realize that they all are already pretty buzzed and must have been drinking while Steve and I were with the reporters.

"Here Steve this one's yours", Bucky says coming up alongside him and handing him a shot glass. I don't have to guess to know that it's Thor's Asgardian liquor.

"Everyone got one?", Sam asks holding up a couple extra ones.

"Rosie and I will take the extra ones!", Nat says taking the glass and handing another to me.
