Decoy

"King," I bowed before him. I elbowed Frost to get her to follow my way.

"Rise."

"I brought someone in as prisoner." I tossed her forward. She looked passed out and when she woke up, oh boy will it be Hell.

"Thank you. You will be at the front of the line with the rest. Frost will stay here." He nodded to himself, more than us. I felt Frosts panic rise up in her. How could she escape when she is here?

"Sir, Frost killed more men than I. We need her skills in the battle field. I assure you, it will be no mistake. Sir." I cringed at the hesitation I'm my voice as I said it will be no mistake. The King didn't seem to notice. He stared at me, not bothering to keep his glare a secret. "She was in second place at the hunting games, under Hunter. You must allow her to at least fight, if not up front than in the back." I had pressed on.

"Very well." Did he just agree with me?

"Now, on a more pressing matter, I freed the Giants and they are making a ruckus in the moving village. I also found the Devours which will be to good use with you and..." my throat closed up. no air was being taken into my lungs. I was suffocating myself and I didn't know how to stop.

"Vanny?" Frost put her cold, feather light hands on my shoulders as I began to shiver. She forces them to stay still but it was no use. Something was wrong. Very, oh so very wrong.

The King was talking, no shocker there, but I wasn't paying attention. I was hearing screams, familiar velvet sounds exaggerating their waves. Screams of war, screams of fear and screams of pain. They were attacking, the Dark ones. Not here, no this was a decoy.

"We are under attack somewhere else." I looked the King in the eye.

"How do you know?" He eyed me, skeptic radiating off them.

"I can hear it, part of my Vanishing power. This," I lifted my hands and looked around at the scene that was around me, "was a decoy." We had left our side of the Realm, to come here, unprotected and having it an easy target for the malicious Elves that want us as slaves. This isn't what I wanted; this is exactly what I was trying so hard to avoid. I didn't want my people enslaved to such evil creatures that even the King feared. The stories are horred and just thinking about what they can do had me shaking, stricken with fear.

The king cursed. Not once, but a whole flood of them. "Vanish, take as many men as you can with you. I must try the Devour but we will meet up."

Standing, he turned on his heel and began walking away. "My uncle," was all I could manage. I knew my time was ticking, I knew people I loved didn't have much time. Still, with that in mind, I spoke again at his frozen and stiffen back. "He helped plan this."

He didn't look back but just continued walking. If I had known any better, I would say my uncle wasn't a threat, but I do know better. If my uncle is the reasoning behind this, he would have so many of us craving for his blood to be spilt. His blood will be spilt at some point. My people don't take grudges lightly. We always avenge the wrong doers.

That was a thought I had to push to the back of my mind, though. I could hear my Pappy screaming, my Poppy fighting. Fenrir's growls echoed through my mind, which meant they must need me and need me bad.

Closing my eyes, I started to fidget with my bracelete Pheonix gave me. I began thinking of his gorgeous eyes, tanned, broad chest.; his aroma that was the perfect bonfire smell. I could feel his presence with me and quickly I took on an iron grip around Frost's wrist, vanishing to Pheonix.

"Vanish, what are you doing here?" He looked up from the map in front of him.

"This was a distraction. Kings orders to take as many men as I can with me back to our lands, to fight as much as possible until the rest get there. We have to go, you are one of the best fighters with your gift and with how much we all respect you, we need you to lead us." I reached my hand out to him, hoping he would grab on to my dangling fingers. "We must hurry, I can hear the screams of our people being slaughtered."
