"I am fine!" Drake slapped my hand away after checking to make sure his pupils weren't dilated different sizes still.
"Just let me check one more time!" I went back in and grabbed his face. "Stop whining like a siren."
"I am not sure what a siren is, but it sounds like you just tried insulting me." I laughed at his pout.
"Yes, I did insult you. Your eyes are fine, you can go to sleep now." I smiled at him. He tried sitting up but I pushed his head back into my lap. "Just sleep, I will watch. I will wake you up when Fenrir gets back with food."
He rolled his eyes before closing them. "Thank you."
"For what?"
"Taking care of the head injury you caused me." His lips twitched, obviously stifling a smile. I smacked his arm before chuckling with him.
"Don't worry about it. It is the least I can do since I sent you flying into the air." I shrugged.
"That feels nice." He said, his voice rough and relaxed.
"What feels nice?"
He opened one eye and looked at me. "What you are doing with my hair?"
I looked down and realized my fingers were traveling through his hair gently, massaging his head. "I didn't realize."
"Don't stop," he frowned but closed his eye. I continued doing it, hoping it would put him to sleep. "How are you feeling?"
"What do you mean?" I asked, he was the one that was hurt.
"Are you calmed down now? Did that talk we had help?" He peered up at me. I looked away and shrugged. In all honesty, I hadn't even noticed that I wasn't angered anymore. The feelings I was having now, were worse. I was worried about this human and I didn't like it. When I thought he was dead for that one second...
"I am not angry anymore." I turned back to him and smiled. I couldn't say I was calmed down, that would be a lie. How can I be calm and relaxed with my Pappy and Poppy out there still and along with the Elve I love, Frost's death, and this human making me worried for his being?
Phoenix, he has to be going through a tough time. When I was searching through the bodies, I found Misty. He is alone, with out her, and I could be the one to blame for it. "What are you thinking of?" He asked.
"Phoenix." I answered before thinking.
"Who is that?" Drake asked, nonchalantly. I shrugged, not meeting his gaze. It would hurt him to know about Phoenix and I can't do that. What am I saying? Maybe that is what Drake needs to know, the thing to get him to realize I don't have feelings for him and I can't. He is human and I am in love with an Elve, my own species.
I sighed, "Phoenix is the one I love." I couldn't handle seeing the emotions in his eyes. I didn't even want to know what it looked like. Instead of looking down at him, I just continued to stare ahead into the darkened forest.
"Oh, what about him?" He cleared his throat. I acted like I didn't hear his voice crack.
"He is all alone. His, what you humans would call a girlfriend, is dead. I saw her lifeless body and I was thinking about how hard it must be for him with out her there." I answered truthfully.
"Does he love you back?" Drake asked. That caught me off guard and I did glance down at him.
"No, not likely." I shook my head. "He left me for Misty, so he can't love me. That is why I feel bad for him. He lost the one he loves. With Elves, if we lose our significant other, we go insane. I assume that she was like that for him and I feel responsible."
