"We are back." I dropped Drake's hand the instant we appeared at the meadow in front of Fenrir. It wasn't that I was disgusted with the human, per se. I just wasn't going to allow what happened before to happen again. I must keep my head in the game. I did this when around Phoenix, I can do it again. Not that this human was anything like Phoenix.
I felt my heart shatter to pieces, thinking about him. He was enslaved like my family. I never thought I would see that day happen, when the all big and powerful Phoenix would be tied up. He was such an amazing fighter. His fire could have caught the ropes and sticks on fire. Why didn't he use it? I couldn't he be here with me to help with the escape instead of Drake?
There wasn't much that could be done about the past, but I had a say in the future. Whether or not the future will actually accept what I have to say, that is a different story. I am going to work towards getting revenge for Frost's death. I will attack my so called 'Uncle' who betrayed my tribe, my village, my people. As a Liosalfar, I can't lie or go against my promise. I, Liosalfar Vanish, promise to bring everyone back as safe and sound as I can.
Frost, why couldn't you have been knocked out like me? I don't think I can do this without your help. I need you here...
"Vanish," Fenrir nudged me.
"Yes?"
"Are you okay, little girl?" He asked, whimpering while bending down to eye level.
"Yea, I was just thinking of Frost," wiping tears from my face. "Let us get going."
"Try to keep up, kid." Fenrir took off, me following him. Drake started running behind us but couldn't seem to keep pace.
"Slow down a tad," I whispered for his ears only. His growl built up in his chest but not loud enough for Drake to hear. Drake caught up after a few minutes.
With a loud rumble, light flash through the forest, rain started penetrating the ground. Fenrir and I skidded to a stop, knowing that when it rained out here, you had to find cover. Fenrir sniffed the air, cocking his ears back and forth, left and right. A thunderous roar echoed around us, the rain getting harder and faster. Fenrir whimpered at the sound, hurting his ears.
"Come on Fenrir, we need to find a place to hide." I put my hand on his muzzle and started walking forward. He trailed behind, keeping his cold, wet nose on my hand. I wasn't sure if there was anything in this direction, but I sure prayed we would find cover before it got worse. I wasn't particularly ready to fight a current as the ground starts to flood.
"Where are we going?" Drake yelled, spitting water out of his mouth.
"To look for cover!" I yelled back at him.
"Where?"
"I don't know! Okay? I am just hoping we find somewhere soon!" I yelled.
"Sorry," he held his hands up in surrender. "I was just curious. Aren't you one with Earth or something? Can't you ask her where to go?"
"What kind of stories do you hear about us?" I laughed at him. "Do we break bones and use them to pick out food in our teeth?"
"You tell me?" He eyed me suspiciously, like it was actually a story.
"You actually think we do that?" I laughed in shock just in time for another strike of thunder.
"Creepy," he pointed at the sky, "and yes there are a few stories like that." He admitted.
"Those are Giants, not Elves." I stopped, my eyes widening in shock. There, in front of me, was an incredibly small opening in a hill. Vines and tree roots hung loose over it, hiding the opening but it most certainly was an opening. It was a place to take shelter, against the flood that was already at our ankles. It would be more difficult getting there, due to the fact that it was a hill and water rolls down while we had to walk up.
