"Mrs Martins!" I ran into the room. "Abigail, why is she tied to the bed?" I shouted.
"Keep your bloody voice down," she gritted.
"Untie her." She glared at me, and I cowered back. "Please untie her," I said quietly. She rolled her eyes and shoved me out of the way before untying Mrs Martins from the hospital bed they had in this place.
The place that Abigail had saved me from the last time. I never found out what happened that day, and something about this place was still off.
Mrs Martins was already up and smiling at me while Abigail stood there throwing me daggers. "You have ten minutes," She said leaving the room.
"Lesego," Mrs Martins said with a sweet smile. "I'm so glad you are okay. I was worried about you."
I just nodded, not knowing what to say to her.
"I need to speak to you about –"
"Karabelo?" She interrupted.
I swallowed. Hearing Mrs Martins say her name made her feel and sound more real than ever. It hurt knowing that my teacher knew about my evil twin sister and probably knew about my life but pretended not to know anything all these years.
I shrugged. "Seems like everyone knows about her except for me." She flinched at my words, and I smiled sadly as my heart ached.
"Well, I'll tell you everything you need to know, but you have to be quiet."
I nodded and sat on the bed. She started talking, and with everything she said, I found myself losing every part of me that I thought I knew. It was the longest ten minutes of my life, and by the time she finished, I was numb.
Abigail was right, this was a terrible idea. I shouldn't have come here, but it was too late. I couldn't unhear everything that Mrs Martins just told me.
My entire life was a lie. Everything I believed in and stood for was not real. "Just...who are you?" I shook my head at her with tears streaming down my face. "Who am I?"
"Lesego–"
We both jumped back as the door flew open, followed by stretched silence as we waited to see what was next, but nothing happened and there was no one outside.
"What's happening?" I breathed.
Out of nowhere, a strong wind engulfed the room, sending everything into turmoil.
I stood still as I felt a familiar force in the room. Lwandle stood outside and I felt it from her energy that it was not her.
"How dare you go against me?" She screamed in an angry ghostly voice, and I knew right away that Lwandle was gone.
The quiet nurse was gone, and we were now facing an unknown force.
In a flash, Abigail came flying into the room and knocked straight into the wall.
A possessed Lwandle walked entered the room and the temperature dropped to below zero in at instant.
I froze when she turned to look at me before turning her attention to Abigail on the floor.
My eyes widened in horror as she lifted her off the ground from a distance without touching her.
"How dare you go against us? How dare you go against my instructions? You betrayed me," She said before yanking her out of the room so hard that I wouldn't be shocked if she was dead.
Mrs Martins, frozen in her bed had her eyes on the woman.
Without notice, in a swift movement, Lwandle was strangling me.
"No!" I screamed. "Lwandle, stop." My eyes were burning, and my neck felt like it was being crushed by heavy rocks.
"You have to die," She said monotonously, her eyes glowing like an amber moon. Her hands tightened in a strong grip around my neck as she continued muttering to me in a ghostly, husky voice.
"Lwandle," I whispered, fighting to keep my eyes open, but she just laughed at me.
She mumbled some words under her breath, and the glow in her eyes started to switch between red and white before she instantly dropped me on the floor.
I shrunk back against the wall while coughing up and rubbing my neck.
"Lesego?" I froze. "What happened? What are you doing here?" Lwandle asked.
She moved closer to me, but I shrunk farther into the wall. "Stay away from me," I said.
Her eyes widened and her face turned to ashes as she took me in. "Oh, no," she breathed. "I'm sorry, Lesego, I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over me." She covered her mouth while shaking her head.
"You looked like you were possessed."
"She was possessed," Abigail said. We all turned to look at her sitting against the wall outside the room. She was clutching her arm, and I feared it could be broken.
"Abigail, are you okay?" I rushed to her.
She gave me a sad smile and nodded before turning her eyes towards Lwandle.
An unreadable expression crossed her face and she quickly covered it.
"We have to get out of here," she said, and I couldn't agree more.
