After everyone left, I locked the door and removed the key.

I was still in shock of how things turned out.

I'd completely forgotten that Lesego was in the house when I spoke about the kiss.

She probably hated me now and was bound to make reckless decisions, the missed calls from Clay told me she had already started.

I didn't want to speak to either one of them, I didn't want to speak to anyone else.

But as usual, the universe was not in my favour.

The sound of someone knocking woke me up from my stupor.

It was late in the evening, but I couldn't sleep one bit.

I remained on my bed hoping that whoever it was, would get tired of knocking and leave.

However, the knocking continued, and it was getting aggressive by the second.

I groaned and got out of bed before one of my neighbours could decide to call me. I quickly put on my gown and slippers and then rushed out of the room.

I only prayed it wasn't Lwandle, because I still didn't know how to approach the situation from earlier, I would have to speak to Bridgette about her.

I opened the door to be greeted by a troubled Ryan; his clothes were wrinkled, his hair a sweaty mess, and his eyes were swollen and red.

"I'm sorry, I lost my keys and–" I jumped into his arms and hugged him.

His arms wrapped around me and he held me tightly as if I would slip away if he let go.

We stood like that for some time as if it would make up for all the time we missed together.

I tried to pull away, but he wouldn't let go. "Let's get inside," I said.

I laughed when he lifted me off the ground and stepped inside the house before kicking the door closed.

"Why can't life be this simple?" He asked as he placed me on the couch.

"It would be if we were not harbouring lies, Ryan. That's what ruined us."

"I guess we have a lot to talk about, huh?" He said with a small smile.

"Would you like some tea?" I offered.

"Coffee will do. Thank you."

"I'm on it."

I made us two coffees and we spent the entire night chatting.

Ryan told me everything he knew about Karabelo and what she's been up to.

I told him about my paternity issues, but I couldn't tell him about Lesego because I felt that I couldn't trust him with the secret.

"She is obsessed with having Lesego's life, especially Clay. So, she took out Lesego and put Zack in prison. She wanted to have Sihle killed too, but I got him out of prison."

Now I understood why he was always coming home nowadays and why he looked all worn out.

A cold sweat ran down my spine. "She's coming after you," I said.

Ryan shook his head. "She's coming after you."

Ha! Newsflash – she's been after me all her life. I thought but didn't say that out loud.

I was not even surprised or scared at all. Karabelo could bring it all, I will always be ready for her.

My phone rang and I checked to find a private number calling me. My gut told me it had to do with Lesego.

"Babe?"

"Huh?"

I needed to take this call, but I needed to play it cool.

"Was Lwandle's car in the parking lot when you arrived?" I asked because their cars were always parked next to each other. "I'm worried about her, I haven't seen her all day."

Ryan stood up and took the teacups. "You should probably answer that because her car is not there, it might be important," he said before he headed for the kitchen.

I picked the phone and answered, "Abigail speaking, hello?"

"Abigail, it's Clay. Lesego left and I don't know where she is. She took all her stuff," he said in a panicked voice.

"WHAT?"
